  1. I've seen a few posts regarding the first colour printing of TMNT 1 and later that point to various issues over the l;ast 10 years. I'm afraid I cannot be more specific than that without searching through loads of posts to find them. I have a couple of Trade Paper Backs from 1986 done by First Publishing that collect 1-4, 5-8, then 9-12 in full colour. This is the 1st one: would this not be the first time they were printed in colour or would it have to be published by Mirage Studios to count? There was a poster of the image above which I still have rolled up in mint condition. Love this cover... Does anyone have more information about these? I know #1 went into second printing and that they stopped with the 3rd TPB. Also have a hard cover that is impossible to get information on: There were 1000 printed and collect all micro series and regular series up to #12. Each is signed and sketched and numbered. I have never seen one for sale, not heard about any one else asking about them. I got mine in the mail by direct order (I think it was '86) but it has gone under the radar since then. I had CPG create a listing for it recently as they didn't have any record of it either... Any one seen one for sale or know how much it would go for?
  2. http://www.comicbookdaily.com/daily_news/4830/ interesting article on this cover
  3. Nobody ever said there is only and will only be 5 copies out there.
  4. no I don't need a daily journal but thanks for the offer, seriously I'm saying that this is a very expensive, very important book. To brush off the subject without anything official is not prudent in my mind. apologies if that does not suit for you. as mentioned this is all spit in the wind without CGC chiming in...
  5. It would be great to get some info directly from CGC. If they made public what happened and what they did to rectify the situation we wouldn't be spitting out "what if's" and my confidence and loyalty to CGC would be restored. spit spit.....
  6. There was a TMNT #1 first print in CGC 9.8 lying around for them to use??? Does this mean there are still 5 on the census or that they used one of the other 4 to fix their mistake? So many questions!!!
  7. I think you're wrong in the second part. The buyer shouldn't have to be the expert because they are banking on the name of CGC. CGC said it was a first and that should be good enough for any buyer. By buying a slabbed book, you are buying the assurance that it is what is says it is. CGC screwed the pooch here and bears full responsibility. +1 Personally I rely on CGC to be right 100% of the time so that my hard earned money is not wasted on mislabelled items. If CGC steps up and takes care of the issue and admits to it publically then I think they are still in good standing. We are all human and mistakes happen no matter what kind of checks are in place. It's how we deal with it that is important. I wonder how long it will be before we hear about the 9.0 (on Ebay) and the 9.8 (that had the record sale price) and how it is resolved...
  8. I've got some CGC slabs on sale here: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=5454765#Post5454765 All copper/modern
  9. There is a 33 for sale on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GI-Joe-33-Platinum-Foil-Michael-Turner-Variant-/200709794452?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item2ebb3c6a94 it is only $3 right now. The seller won't ship to Canada so I can't buy this one up.... $3 is a wicked deal if you get it....
  10. I take it the #5 is not slabbed so the signature is not verified. I suppose a small stain like that would reduce the grade to between an 8.5 and a 9 depending on the rest of the book. The unverified signature will probably mean the grade takes a hit too and would come under qualified. I'm no pro but I would guess $40-$50 on Ebay. If there are no others on sale at that time you may get some higher bids... The hype on this book is bringing some high prices at the moment in any condition...I wonder if the show will sustain the interest in the comics and for how long...
  11. hang on!?! you mean these aren't photochopped into sketches but are real sketches published somewhere? this is not a hook line and sinker?
  12. I love it!! I suppose this is the limited to 10 copies sketch variant! does the signature sketch come with a COA???
  13. Ha. Just playing. That was the first thing that jumped to mind when I read that. I wonder how many Art of Chew sketchbooks there are actually are... Well, if you think about it, even if it's (not saying it is or isn't), even if it was 1000...the the greatest GI Joe cover of all times in foil version, is still rock n' roll (thumbs u
  14. I was thinking along those lines.... for instance the Gijoe 33 foil says limited to 500, and then there are 200 foil with Turner's signature. I had thought that meant 300 regular foil and then 200 signed ones but most likely this is 500 reg foil and another 200 signed foil....
  15. Pssst! Little boy. You want some Tick comics? *opens trenchcoat* Is he showing off his "T"ick?
  16. How many years did this spread out to?! I think I stopped at issue 10. I remember coming across the number 1 by chance and loved it after reading. I tried to get the whole run on a monthly basis but they had sold out of the issues I was missing for those months (even though I had asked for them to be put aside). I never read past issue 12...
  17. Cool thread! I bought these off the shelf at my LCS when they first came out:
  18. The foil one is gorgeous! The non-foil has that extra sig that makes it a one of a kind... me likey very much! congrats on those... if you ever want to sell them please let me know....
  19. totals: #21 - 8 #33 - 5 It would be interesting to see if amost of the copies out there were held by members on this board....
