  1. There was a 9.8 a few months ago that ended up selling for $15k on ebay. There have been a couple of other non-graded ones too. keep checking Heritage auctions and Comiclink (to name 2 auction houses) as they seem to pop up often on those sites. I think we'll not see any of the 9.8's again for a while though. What grade were you looking for?
  2. Well, I don't know about feeling bad for the seller. It's not a fortune he's missing out on, but I get where you are coming from. I wonder what a 9.8 of this book would sell for...

  5. I may have a few ungraded ones if you are interested....
  6. Here is another pic with some other foil issues:
  7. I'm a little crazy about this cover and have collected these so far: Thanks to OV and Par2ch for their help!
  8. how offensive? I have never seen the lurid art within the book...
  9. unlike most I thought the 1st one was entertaining, looking forward to this one.
  10. "when the money "posts", whatever that means" the cheque is in the mail?

  13. Don't want to make you think we are ignoring you 4turtles2007 but honestly I don't know much about cover art. Cool pieces regardless! (thumbs u +1 have no clue what these would be valued at. There is a forum on this site dedicated to OA (original art) so you may want to repost there... Welcome to the boards
  14. Why is that a 2.5? Someone tape the back? Creases, spine tics, heavy cover wear? yup, I imagine it could press to a 4 or higher...maybe 1 day...
  15. at the comic store where I submitted it to CGC the staff thought I was crazy!
  16. just got this back from CGC: I know, I know...2.5.... but I thought it would be fun to get one CGC'd....
  17. I'm quite suprised at the Qualified 9.8's final sale price on ComicLink. The 9.6 sold for the same... Are the GLOD's really that dangerous to the value of a book? Even with the accompanying certificates?
  18. How did this get a 9.8? Unless the pictures are messed up it sure looks to have a lot of scrapes on the back cover. That just looks like poor printing. What baffles me is that stress mark on the back of the book. I've seen countless 9.8's with tiny stress marks, but that one is just way too big. The more I see this stuff the more I want to crack and re-submit mine just to see if it gets higher. My 8.0 (graded 10 years ago) is really nice and clean with a few stress marks but I see 9.0+ copies all the time that seem to have more than mine (and with OW pages - mine are white). I may make that a pet project of mine...to see if CGC has gotten softer on their grading standards. +1. I was thinking the same thing. I can't see how any comic would be graded as a 9.8 with any kind of stress mark. It's very disappointing. It's almost Orwellian (some pigs are more equal than others) where it seems some 9.8's are more equal than other 9.8's. This makes a case for CVA to step in and say which one is better than the other. I really don't think CGC should soft grade anything regardless of what book it is.
  19. update on the auctions (as of Feb 26): ComicLink #1 9.8 $3655 with 40 bids ComicLink #1 9.6 $3500 with 28 bids Comicconnect #1 9.8 $1050 with 11 bids
  20. I reckon the 9.6 will go for $8500, the clink 9.8 between $14k and $15k, and the other 9.8 for $16k to $17k
  21. The CGC slab for the early TMNT issues is the same size as a magazine slab so a frame for a magazine should fit. I don't actually have a slabbed magazine but I have a CGC magazine box and they fit perfectly in there.
