We try to get to northern Vermont at least once a year. There's no greater craft brewing town in the northeast, and the Alchemist is legendary. I've seen guys in out-of-state plates (including NJ) literally following the Alchemist delivery truck route. Both Focal Banger and, especially, Heady Topper live up to the mythology. Though if you like Focal, an easier to find alternative that's in the same league, if you're up there, is Phaze (also an American IPA) from Four Quarters Brewing in Winooski. Those guys and Foam Brewery, on the Burlington waterfront, are two of the better new brewers up there.

The stuff Foam Brewers puts out is sooooo good. Discovered that place soon after it opened and absolutely fell in love with their hazy IPAs and DIPAs, but with the border closure I've been stuck in Montreal and unable to get back down there en route to the family home since early January.  I've been lobbying them on Instagram to drive up to border and throw some cans into Canada... lol

  2. Many years back in one of my first sales threads, I sold a book to Bob and as a relative n00b, was actually a mix of nervous and excited to have a transaction with someone who was clearly a respected veteran on the boards. Interacting with him and then getting some nice feedback about my packaging and shipping - and my grading of the book itself - did a lot for my confidence and sense of belonging as a member of the community.

Very sorry to learn of his passing and will miss seeing his contributions here.

So cool to see this offered on the boards (even though I can't afford it). I always wondered if the poor guy on the cover attempted to smoke a cylinder of radium, and what would have possessed him to make such a poor life choice.

As an important experiment, I actually stared at the back cover here and *on my computer screen* saw the 3D "Mallrats" come into focus.   I figured I should share.

    Amazing Spider-Man #39
"How Green Was My Goblin!", --script by Stan Lee, pencils by John Romita (who begins as regular penciler), inks by Mike Esposito (as Mickey Demeo) and John Romita.
I would grade this copy as a FN/FN+. Italian date stamp (June 1966) on front cover.

Love that date stamp! So cool, and great placement.  It's fun to think about a fresh stack of these being unloaded onto a magazine stand somewhere in the Bel Paese in 1966.

  6. Sharon, I've long appreciated your generosity and contributions to the boards as a lurker in threads... I've been watching this one too but figured I might as well pipe in on behalf of my 9-year-old daughter, who would definitely love some of these. Do you still have the Teen Titans on pink background and the Ariel (purple/pink print on white background) in medium available?  If yes I would certainly appreciate claiming those.

  7. I recall that book fondly from my childhood - growing up in the late '70s there was a box of comics at my grandmother's house my uncle had bought off the rack from around '61-'65, and this was one of them that most captured my imagination with its mix of fantastic monsters and twist storytelling. The Kirby influence on me was strong from an early age!

  8. Fun collection of books indeed.

As a relevant aside, not sure if anyone out there is a Joe Hill fan (but if you aren't, you should be); the intro to his latest collection of short stories, Full Throttle, opens with an anecdote about how his dad used to read Bring on the Bad Guys to him as a kid every night, so that in his childhood memory, Captain America sounded like Stephen King, Dormammu sounded like Stephen King, Sue Storm sounded like Stephen King in a high-pitched voice, etc.

Great intro to a great book by someone who obviously loves the genre, if his contributions to Locke & Key weren't testament to that already.
