  1. yes Saw that one coming... I'm probably missing something right? I figure that if I owned one, give what they've been selling for, I wouldn't want to advertise just how big a fish it was. Unless, I'm missing something. Sorry, I wasn't thinking that way. That would make plenty of sense. (thumbs u I must be dense because I'm still missing it. Me dont understand either. Hasnt it been stated several times here in public on the boards what that specific book was (the resub, the bump, etc)? But perhaps Action#1 has grown so big that everything becomes hushed these days? Its ok with me. Peoples privacy should be respected imho. Or maybe its another book thats being adressed ...

  4. Hey Gator! Whats the nicest restored book you have owned? (nice = desirability + eye appeal + $$$ factor combined )
  5. yes... pretty much all of them that come out each week, even if I don't want to have to keep up with titles in case my customers have questions, need recommendations, etc ones I would read if I didn't have to read most all are walking dead Terry Moore's Echo any Luna Brother release Batman Powers any garth ennis Only title on that list that I am aware of is Batman. Although I remember Ennis from my retailer days
  6. Dear Gator Whose art sucks the most: (i) Al Milgrom (ii) Rob Liefeld
  7. Will hippies ever learn to favour comics?
  8. Someone get this man's washer ready and a fresh pair of pants ASAP! Well I wouldnt have shelled out 43K. But somebody else apparently did. (thumbs u I would have. That book was one centerfold away from being a complete Action #1. Do you think if a centerfold comes to market that it's going to cost more than $100K? I don't think so. Looks like somebody got a steal IMO. Its pretty hypothetical isnt it? One centerfold away and then it might be perhaps this - perhaps that. Again IF a centerfold turned up (and didnt cost 100K ). And the issues inside remain undescribed for all who dont know the book. Its a big world of 'If's'. A steal ... I dont know How are the interior issues undescribed to most? The label clearly states the centerfold is a color copy. The 7th-15th wraps were married. And there are pieces out of the 19th-26th wraps that affect the story. ALL IN CAPITAL LETTERS And if I am correct you can call and get more detailed descriptions. Not exactly "undescribed issues" imho. I think Roy was probably right, somebody got this book for a steal if they have inroads to a complete interior. Which I understand is easier said then done, but not unthinkable. * Well 'the pieces out' designation on 8 pages inside leads one to think how *much* is actually missing. Large chunks? or a small corner? Since this is an extensive book I thought there was no further notes to call for? When I called cgc recently on an Ext GA book at least thats what I was told ...
  9. It's a steal. Here's why...this is what the individual wraps sold for: Action 1 5th wrap $6353 Action 1 6th wrap $3010 Action 1 13th wrap $1300 Action 1 14th wrap $890 Action 1 15th wrap $850 Also a 1st wrap sold for $3100 several years ago...pretty sure it would sell for much more. That's $15,000 for less than 1/2 the interior with 10 (or 11 wraps) still to be accounted for. Then you have the cover, which would easily be a 5 figure piece. There are several incomplete copies of Action #1 out there and if someone with an interior were to purchase this copy you basically have a $90,000+ plus book by adding one centerfold. Thats convincing figures you are pulling, - that is *if* its legit to calculate complete-copy-value by adding FMV for each wrap? But thats the problem isnt it? That for the big ticket books value is not easy to determine? So nobody can be blamed for trying to calculate what is cheap or steep. There was an Ext 4.5 Tec27 that sold out of metro a year ago in the mid 30K range. The UK Ext. 4.5 sold recenly for close to 50K. An Action #1 I guess is even more incalculable when it comes to determine FMV at a given moment in time ... Well, considering FMV entry level price for a complete Action #1 is going to run you approx $100K (remember, even a ratty copy that is restored to EP is a $100K book) and the wraps have never sold for more than $6K, I just can't call it anything less than a bargain. Remember, all you need is one wrap to transform this book into a complete copy. Yes - and should a dilligent seller of this specific wrap be (or come) around, then it will be widely known that there most likely will be a big whale circling the waters to snag exactly such a wrap. And that off course will send the pricetag on this specific wrap into orbit Impressive analysis. But consider this, maybe the buyer is just happy to have an Action 1 and doesn't give a hoot that he doesn't have a centerfold and really isn't too concerned what he/she will make if they were to ever find one and then sell the book. Some folks just like to collect comics. Hell - ciorac is right. This is ed. New subject

  15. Flash 105! A similar A1 mod 6.5 went for 150K just moons ago. This is an Ext .5 book. If this goes north of 40K I will mess my pants. But then again IF the hulk #181 cgc 9.9 sale is legit, - then anyhting can happen. Reality sometimes seem to surpass reality ... sometimes at least
  16. we'll know pretty soon Anything north of 40K must be considered outrageous ... or hillarious

  21. 30 year, zero down, fixed rate, and lifetime Disneyland passes should do it (thumbs u I say make the loan now before interest rate goes up. Well, at least Dark Knight does not have to pay property taxes...but insurance though. can't wait to see the pic of Pre Robins with the 4.0 Tec 27 in it DK He earned it. yes and one of the youngest Pre Robin go getters in our hobby (thumbs u I'm wondering who the youngest person is/was who completed the set I guess that depends on what young is. I have 28-30 and plan to get a 27 at least this year and I am 33, is that young enough? James G
