  1. A reminder for everyone thinking of donating comics to organizations for kids - please remember to take a look at what you are donating and remove all of the inappropriate stuff, not just talking about Horny Biker Sluts and Preacher, but anything that is inappropriate for little kids.
  2. I do not believe that was proven or decided at all.
  3. I'm lumping it in with ASM 430-431 as being viewed as a relevant book in the "dead era". http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMAZING-SPIDERMAN-430-431-Silver-Surfer-Possessed-Carnage-NM-9-4-SET-/350509752605?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item519c02611d There's a few more Amazing Spiderman issues that always pull 2X to 3X Cover Price or More that are from the "Dead Era". Here's a list of them. Amazing Spiderman Vol.1 #403, 408(Variant), 410, 416(With Cards), 430-431, 432 (Wanted Poster Variant), 434, 435, and 438-439. and Amazing Spiderman Vol.2 #1(Sun Burst Variant), 1(Dynamic Forces Variant), 19, 21-29, and 36. Quite an old topic but can someone tell me what the 'dead era' is? I think of it as 1997 to about 2001 or 2002. Print runs shrank by huge percentages of prior orders.
  4. I googled the hell out of it and came up dry. The regular #1 had CapCity orders of 250k+, so the actual print run is bound to be a lot higher than that. I have seen longboxes full of the regular editions. I wouldn't be surprised if it were double that or more.

  6. Nope what I am saying is that your love of SWII makes me feel a ton better about this:
  7. Secret Wars II makes all the deities, across all the pantheons, throughout all the sentient life-bearing galaxies in the universe, cry.
  8. Because the white knights must save the board from the cancer (or rather the individual who is like a cancer). I'm sure one of them has an iPhone app that lets them know when RMA posts, then an automatic PM goes out to all the knights with the link to the offending thread. Everyone expects this inquisition. I realize you consider RMA a friend & feel the need to defend him (enabling is always a good thing), but is it really that difficult to understand why someone would find his posting style offensive/annoying? There's a group that defend him at every turn, many times before he is able to defend himself. I understand you feel he is the underdog & that everyone is piling on, but he has really ramped up his style over the last few months. When someone disagrees with him he takes it personally & goes on attack mode. It's just like if you are out at a restaurant & there is some clown making a scene at the next table. First time you may overlook it, second time you might confront him, by the third time you go to management. That's all that is happening here, management has been notified of his behavior & they are the ones making the decision. Name ONE other Boardie that gets gangraped like RMA. One. No one has to put up with what he has to put up with. Regardless of how "annoying" he is. If I said I like NFL Superpro and 15 people told me I was stupid, that is one thing. But if, every time I got engaged in any thread (at least in General) a 15 headed Lernean Hydra of Internet Trollhate came at me, I would leave this place. It would suck so bad, i would leave. RMA won't leave. He will keep hacking at heads until there are so many that finally he gets gobbled up. And that will suck.
  9. Sounds a lot lke a volunteer fire department.
  10. I have decided to allow you to Richarddup whenever you care to. I will notify you, however, when you have, in fact Richarddedup.
  11. Without all the beating around the bush, it looks like you guys are talking about BK's three threads. The one was started 12/30 and got a bump. Not sure if that should count. The other two are relatively close in time. I would give him a pass, but he is a pretty good friend of mine so . . .
  12. Worse for him if he stumbles into your Beyonder love fest thread. I have scared everyone away from that thread. No one wants to play with me anymore. I'll just be the kid in the corner with the mismatched clothes eating boogers. A role with which you have some passing familiarity, I assume.
  13. I don't see much following and goading in this last round of frothiness. Nope, just Bosco calling him a "scummer." My memory might be fuzzy, but I sat through the catfight and I don't recall Nick calling Rocky a "scummer." Did he cross the line of poor taste and judgment in his argument? Yes, certainly. Should he have just shut his mouth and let it go? Most assuredly. But the main point he was making was that Rocky's behavior impacts people's willingness to deal with him on a business level. As dismissive as Rocky or anyone else might be of this point, it is undeniably true (and would be true of anyone else who engages in polarizing behavior on this board). What's a "scummer"?? Is it onomatopoetic"? I googled it, but that didn't help.

  15. Tubthumping, stumping for votes and fomenting negative energy against a Boardie that is a cootch hair away from getting banned will act as internet Levitra at times. YMMV.
  16. I pity you for your hatred of the short and beautiful.

In the WTB thread, where RMA was admittedly "gaming the rules" by saying that there was nothing preventing someone from soliciting PGX books, Bosco865 called RMA a "scummer."
  18. You prefer a different color? Nope. It is the concept that someone's style of posting on a message board could infuriate one to the point of actually spending valuable time stumping against them. I got pretty close myself, so i know the seductive allure of constantly having a bete noire-style boogeyman to rail upon. Especially when you just know that 8 or 10 others are going to pile on. But, that is fundamentally wrong.

  20. Great post. Most of RMA's detractors are suffering from the same dogged determinism that RMA is chided for. They can't let him go. They are just as much like a dog with a bone as RMA himself is. The problem is that they can't see it, because they are too busy saying "Look at RMA, look at all the threads he is in causing trouble," rather than saying to themselves, "Why am I following this guy around and pointing out what a I think he is?" It is almost always patently false. He is not causing trouble. He is zealously, vociferously and aggressively debating all of the points that he feels are worthy of his efforts. If you don't like it, go away. I did. Go find the last time I really engaged RMA. It was about the comics distribution system. I thought he was full of mess, but he kept on steaming along. Finally I gave up. He is still my friend, even though I think he was cuckoo for cocoa puffs for thinking that he knows exactly what may or may not have happened with pallets of Silver Surfer #4s circa 1969. These are posts on an internet chat board and the haters get themselves wound so frickin tight about his posts and then they blame him. HUH? The bottom line is that haters want him gone, and they follow him around to goad him into engaging all of them at once and making himself look like he is frothing at the mouth, because they want him gone. The real question is whether he will stop taking the bait before the haters get what they want.
