  1. Both Spain Rodriguez and S. Clay Wilson canceled appearances last year. I am hoping to pick them up and get Larry Todd on a high grade Dr. Atomic #1, and also hopefully pick up a Ted Richard this year. I've gotten bitten by the underground bug pretty hard.
  2. I saw that. I'm sure JJ doesn't think it's crazy. Believe it or not, before next season hits, I believe a BLUE label 9.8 will go for a $900-$1k It will happen....... This property is so fekking hot, I am just in awe of prices being realized. And right at that moment you should have the exact same tingling sensation you got when you sold a Magnus #12 for $200 in 1993. It is that kind of analysis that has me thinking about selling my multi-signed 19 and 27. I don't want to, but I feel like a bad capitalist if I don't. Since you're a confirmed bad capitalist already what's the problem? That is so frickin' true.

  4. Here are my latest two Underground SS books, signed by Joyce Farmer, a pioneer Wimmen's Libber in comix and William Stout, who became a very famous straight artist doing dinosaur illustrations.
  5. I would love to see the 1st challenge and would vote for the Crain to be the challenger!!
  6. Occam's Razor provides that the most likely place that they got the replacement book is from whomever got the mislabeled 3rd print that actually had a 1st print inside it. You pay that guy what he paid for the 3rd print plus a little juice and voila, problem solved.
  7. Kudos to Richie for giving me the opportunity to get a couple of Hannigans, the 368 is my OO copy
  8. You have done a nice job of tracking down great creators, Steve!!
  9. Theres something Gollum like about this one I can't tell from the look on his face if he is horrified or intrigued? Is this like charades? I would have gone with constipated.
  10. Due to the amount of drinking and the tendency to eat bad food at cons, my show etiquette involves dropping daisycutter-style.
  11. The best thing about TBH is that no matter how old I feel, if I can muster enough synaptic activity to remember that he is still alive, I feel young again.
  12. I had always heard, anecdotally, that each printing has a separate date in the indicia - some month in '84, later in '84 for 2nd print, '85 for 3rd print and yet another for 4th print. If that were true, it would be almost impossible to not be able to nail down the printing - before it gets slabbed.
  13. That cover looks very Gil Kane influenced. I would have never suspected that DS had ever been influenced by Kane!
  14. This is why GACollectibles is a stone cold pimp. Peter Weller (Robocop) and Nancy Allen (Officer Lewis)
  15. I don't get down on the "co-creators can sign any book where the character appears" logic. I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with the logic, I just don't personally like it. It seems as though it is fairly well accepted in a lot of circles, especially for older creators, where folks want to get sigs on modern, less expensive books (Stan on Marvels, Joe Simon on Cap 25, Romita on Punisher etc.) I wouldn't get Wrightson on that book. No doubt about that. Get Tom Yeates if you want to add to it.
  16. If you use good masking tape, there is no danger of any residue unless you cut the tape itself (which I have done a number of times.) Taking care not to cut the tape will eliminate the possibility. I co-opted Michael's techniques immediately upon seeing them in action at one of the Chicago cons in 2008 or 2009 and they work flawlessly. I also have started using the flap to much success.
  17. I thought both books went pretty cheap. I bid on the B&W up to $300 and I already have one. I figured once I got knocked out that it would have had some pretty aggressive snipes, but it never moved again. You just never know. Someone got a tasty deal, methinks.
