  1. I really wanted that book from this dude, too. It was a GA Submariner that had the first appearance of the ankle wings. It was long enough ago that I probably was fixated on GPA or guide or some combination thereof. And leave off my wiles, or I'll bump the Moves Like Jagger thread . . .
  2. Hey Fred, Is the Eisner sig on the interior? Alex's is signed on the inside and I don't see it.
  3. I tried to use logic and my cunning wiles to get him to sell a book to me for something approximating recent sales of similar books and I failed.
  4. You should feel alienated by flippers that white out personalizations, not creators who are made to feel like organ grinder's monkeys.
  5. Once CGC is on notice that the creator doesn't want their signature slabbed, they won't slab it. See e.g. Dave Mazzuchelli.
  6. I have always wanted one of these. Were they maybe advertised in one of the Superhero Catalogues? I don't know how I would have known about it as a 9 year old unless it was. Perfect except for the grease pencil price, which I don't really mind.
  7. I bought a ton of those from Koch as well. The issue I got multiples of was the 1st Betsy Braddock appearance.
  8. Michael Schmidt and I were discussing Lenore last week. Roman Dirge is going to be @ C2E2. He had mentioned that the #1 had about a bazillion printings a la JTHM. I had no idea. Here is some good information from Dirge himself http://books.google.com/books?id=8GgqEj8p0rMC&pg=PT11&lpg=PT11&dq=xenophobe+magazine&source=bl&ots=d94W9EPVOe&sig=Rz7DDUPZy0zn6Pvy-3xQrUZmxlg&hl=en&sa=X&ei=HPpxT9SSBoi6twfnyJ3KDw&ved=0CFUQ6AEwCA#v=onepage&q=xenophobe%20magazine&f=false
  9. Thanks, guys. Would LOVE to add Luis Domingues . . .
  10. Vicente Alcazar was a surprise (to me) guest at NYCC this year. I was very excited to be able get his sig. Also, it came up so quickly that I had to dig through my longboxes rather than go out and find a primo copy. Was very happy with the grade under those circumstances!
  11. Boom Shakalaka http://www.ebay.com/itm/WALKING-DEAD-19-CGC-SS-9-8-SIGNED-4-MICHONNE-/330704691804?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item4cff89225c
  12. Trusty, reliable, occasionally needs to be hit with a hammer? Sounds about right.
  13. Latest acquisition from one of my favorite Modern series:
  14. I traded JJ a 9.8 TM signed 19 a couple of months ago for a Hemsworth signed Thor book. I feel like a complete dillhole. I could get four of those for what they are going for now.
  15. I find the whole thing fascinating. I have flipped my share of books and even tried my hand as a part time dealer in my late teens. But to actually be able to sit and watch this book explode, pretty much in real time (with the accessibility of GPA data and Ebay) is pretty trippy.
  16. Negative. Very heavy offers are being made. They will not be able to be resisted very long.
  17. I predict that a new high will be set for a Yellow label WD 19 today.
  18. If you guys are looking for anything specific, you can always drop me a PM. Tim @ Bookery has an amazing stash of Undergrounds. He bought the collection of some dude here in Yellow Springs that used to date Melinda Gebbie. Some of the stuff is even pretty high grade (e.g. the Weird Trips, which looks even better than the grade.) I have been able to track down a lot of what I was looking for, but someone bought the Quack #1 out from under me.
  19. He just got $999 for one. Time to up the ante with quad signed and sketched. BOOYAH!!
