  1. Wow. The cover to 150 is awesome. I don't think I've ever seen it before. I'm not sure I would be so cavalier about busting out of the Bottles of Death, though.
  2. Barton is not exactly a new kid. He has some of the most sublime Marvel Bronze out there.
  3. I read it too quick and thought you said Beautiful books . . .Tough Titties."
  4. Nice book Joey! For a huge Bronze Hulk fan, that is a sweet Trimpe sketch.
  5. It was only because of the community's good graces toward you, that you're not a permanent member on the list. This is an interesting comment, as I would have thought that the reason that he was not on the list is because he completed the transactions that he had originally defaulted upon. It has always been my understanding that completing the transactions to the satisfaction of those who were afffected was the only way to get removed from the list. I was not aware that there was a community good graces subchapter.
  6. Even an excellent and concise story with a twist. Awesome. Agreed. I also really like the Ditko-esque demon in the last panel and I really appreciate that the artist didn't show his junk, although it was really close.
  7. A 9.6 sold for $3,479 in June of 2009.
  8. This is a good cause. I will bust out a CGC 9.4 SS Megaton Explosion Giveaway, signed by Medina, Liefeld and Larson. A True Copper grail if there ever was one. I'll get some really craappy digital pics tonight. --S.
  9. I just saw this.....are you kidding me??? Yea it was an honest question and this guy had to respond like that to me? I thought he was joking around and that's why I posted it again. Someone needs to get some thicker skin..... And if you ask my friend universal I have no clue about pressing, I PM'd him over pressing a few weeks ago. Sorry guys but I'm not a huge comic geek like some on here, I dont know how to grade/press/etc. Hilarious. Oh and the reason I asked was because the seller kept posting (PRESSED) and I had wondered if CGC would display (PRESSED) on the label. I havent gone in his for sale thread since then and really dont remember which thread it was. Oh one more thing, if you have a problem with something I said just PM me and we can work things out. Clear? I guess all the people giving you craap in this thread are going to ignore your post. I won't ignore it. Just like I won't ignore you inserting yourself in as the staunch defender of anti-pressers and those accused of being anti-pressing. What a joke. Raw books rest easier tonight, safer in their mylar homes because of the yeoman's work that you are doing, sir. (thumbs u Taking PEP's statements at face value, it looks like he walked into a buzzsaw. I'm amazed that someone that has been on the boards as long as he has would not know anything about pressing, disclosure or whether "CGC would put (PRESSED) on the label." But stranger things have happened. So I apologize to PEP for imputing an agenda upon him that apparently was incorrect, and suggesting that his attempts at finding information (that should have been clear by looking at the labels of the books in question) were threadcrapping.
  10. I certainly understand what you are saying. Whether a question about pressing in a thread is acceptable etiquette as opposed to a PM is a completely different issue. I certainly would do it via PM if I had such a question. My OP asked about this type of activity in a thread that has proactive disclosure, since that was the shibboleth of the anti-pressing crowd for years. Since PEP hasn't come on to support Bosco's theory that he was merely trying to find out some general information about pressing; , I am going to continue to assume that he has a BS axe to grind, and continue to assert that he chose to grind it in a rude fashion. People that act that rudely deserve to be called out, big time.
  11. Because they can be. I don't care for pressed books but jezusHchrist I won't sabotage a fellow boardies sales thread. If it's important to know about a book, PM the seller. There is no need to start mess in a sales thread(usually). But it is worse than that. There is nothing to PM about. He clearly states that it is pressed. Not this book may have been pressed, or might have been pressed or any intimation that the Pressing Fairy may have dryhumped it. It clearly says it was pressed. So why f with him? There was an incident in another sales thread and the poster probably should have sent a PM. I wasn't just referring to one sales thread. My bad for not being clear. Peckershiners The seller has every right to chose whether to disclose or not just as the perspective buyer has every right to ask. However, that doesn't give the perspective buyer the right to ask in a manner that brands every book in the sales thread with a scarlet letter "P" just for the hell of it. I don't think enough credit is being given to the folks reading the threads and looking to buy. Is the thought that the person asking the question is the only one wondering about pressing when a high-grade book is posted? Really? I'd say someone that can drop $500 on a mid-sixties 9.6 Spidey is already thinking about the possibility when he throws up the More likely is the fact that the one dumping in the thread is just the only one with attitude enough to try to disrupt the thread. Read their rhetoric, remind yourself how you don't want to come across, and move on. Ever been to a Wal-Mart and watched a mom beat the *spoon* out of their kid for acting up? Who you are you whispering about to your honey? The kid or the mom? Don't be the mom in someone’s thread either. Just to make sure I'm clear...I don't think anyone should be posting a pressing/price/degrading question in someone's sales thread. However, I also don't think there should be four pages about how much of a *spoon* someone is for posting the question. Read it, send a PM and tell the person how much of a *spoon* they are if you want, but don't make it a spectacle for them. Everyone holds responsibility in keeping the board from becoming a Wal-Mart. Since reading comprehension appears to be an issue: THE SELLER EXPLICITLY SAID THAT IT WAS PRESSED. THERE WAS NO QUESTION TO ASK. HE TOLD EVERYONE THAT IT WAS PRESSED. Then, a person with an apparent agenda decided to f with the Seller who had proactively (that means without anyone having to ask) disclosed the pressing. If you are talking about KOR's thread, that is not what is being discussed. Although that was a bunch of wildly_fanciful_statement, too.

It just makes my blood boil. Everyone has the right to believe whatever they want to about any of this. But when someone proactively discloses and then there is threadcrapping, it is rudeness of the highest order.

  14. If it's not spooned, it doesn't count. Cartman is your best avatar. It is hard, however, to hear Cartman's voice with a Southern accent.
  15. Sean, I'm not against pressing, and I applaud Tupenny for posting ahead of time books were pressed. I think what happened in that thread, possibly, was an innocent question may have been misread. The way I took Pep's question, if I may frame it based on perception, was, "Hi. I think it is great you mention a book was pressed. What do you look for when trying to detect pressing?" Just the way he asked it, it may have come across like a challenge. At least, I hope that was what happened versus beating up on a thread when a seller is trying to be up front about book prep work. Then that would be totally wrong! But knowing how the pressing debate can get heated, I probably would have asked that question via a PM. I'm still leaning towards it was such an innocent question, Pep didn't realize how it came across. I'm going to do some research and pwn your azz. Research inconclusive. Pwning postponed, possibly indefinitely. I still maintain that PEP acted like a douchenozzle.

  17. Maybe that is the endgame. Run off the high grade sellers who disclose pressed books, run off the people who like to buy high grade books and don't care if they are pressed and leave the marketplace for folks who want to buy and sell over-inflated Mid-Grade Silver. Sounds like every flea market on I-70. Whooppeee.
  18. To all the anti-pressers and purveyors of disclosure: What would possess individuals to troll sales threads of folks who have high grade books who disclose pressing? Are you upset that people still want these books? Do you now want, along with disclosure, an indelible stamp or perhaps an audio chip that screams out "PRESSED!!!!!" whenever anyone gets within 15 feet of it? Why do some people have to be such peckershiners? Are you upset that your 8.5 OO copies are not as highly regarded as pressed 9.8s? They never will be, and wishing won't make it so. Enlighten me.
  19. Plus the obligatory vertical printer's crease as well, I'm sure. The curse of the Albatross #1. The piece de resistance of my copy is that it is mislabeled as a Color Special, so I can't even keep my damn Registry straight.
