  1. If it's any help, here are two recent sales:

    Avengers #4 CGC 4.0 SS signed by Lee/Simon: $550 (Dec 2009)

    Avengers #4 CGC 5.0 SS signed by Lee/Simon: $680 (Dec 2009)

No idea of PQ... or cover alignment... or clarity/placement of the sigs... or if these books are solid examples of their grade...

But just based on grade alone, then $600-$640 seems like the going rate for a CGC 4.5 SS copy.

Drew, thanks a million. That does help Kind of felt that he was asking a grade up. Even if we can agree on the figure, still torn with buying a higher grade without the autographs for the same price.

Do collectors prefer grade or signatures?

    Any input is appreciated.

    Cheers

  2. Hi Guys, I am looking to pick up an Avengers 4.

Being offered a CGC 4.5 which is Signature Series and signed by Joe Simon and Stan. Asking price is $660. Seems like seller is asking a bit much.

    Do people agree?

Also, do people really think it worth the premium for the autographs.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  4. Just got carried way in an auction on Comic Connect and bought a GL 7 double cover in purported 6.5. Outer cover is 5.5 according to the description. Paid $717. Think I did ok?

Likely going to submit it to CGC. Any advice as to how to proceed with a double cover?

    Would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  5. They are not HG comics but you have to start somewhere.

    1 is a 5-5.0

2-5 are about a 4.0 with my hope that they will be a grade higher. I think I got them for very reasonable prices so will not be disappointed if they come in at 3.5.

Thanks for the tips on the other issues. Will be trolling with interest. My real goal is to find a B&B 28 next but you never know when opportunity will knock.

    Cheers

  6. HI guys I just joined this club....well dipped a toe compared to the majority of the guys on the thread. I picked up a low grade copy which looks like a 2.0-3.0 (if I am lucky) this morning off ebay at 6 am. Based on the picture cover has nice gloss and it apparently has cream pages. Biggest issue is that there is a significant spine split that someone tried to fix with tape. Thought it was worth a gamble as there was a Buy it Now price of $275.

Plan will be to grade up over time but at least I have a starting point at a reasonable price point.

    Cheers
