  1. Giving my age away here, but I was a paperboy when Happy Days was a hit TV show, my pal and I would time picking our rounds up just as the show started, the girl in the shop would ask us to watch the shop while she went in the back to watch it. We pocketed the money of anything we sold and scoffed more sweets than should have been possible for an 11 year old kid. Also all the comics I delivered I kept and read overnight before I delivered them the next day. Yeah, paperboy, the best job I ever had
  2. Not at the time but I wasnt satisfied with the copy I had so upgraded a few times over the years, I never sell anything so maybe ended up with half a dozen or so copies
  3. I have TWE 1-4, I will go and check the splash pages as its not a cover of any of those issues. I am back - I just had a quick flip through those issues and its not from any of these books The search goes on...
  4. I have a few Rex but only have the first issue scanned, they are tough books to find in the UK.
  5. You really dont want me to start caring about stamps, do you ? Laurel & hardy are the greatest comedy duo of all time, one of the few things that still makes me laugh. Things I found funny when I was a kid, even up to just a few years ago just doesnt do it anymore, but Laurel & hardy never gets old for me.
  6. I just had a quick look at my Harvey's, most of my collection is too old to fit the criteria and I only have 71 books scanned, a couple have stamps but alas not T&P
  7. I would have liked those too, but not at those prices, I dont care about the stamps. I thought I was the only person collecting IW. Whats going on ?
  8. I hate it when the picture is someone holding the comic and his finger nails are rotten, no chance of me buying that, puts me right off Or even worse you can see his cheesy feet in the photo, yuk Ebay is minging.
  9. I would agree, go with a proper Auctioneer, never a dealer offer. Anderson and Garland sold the Ian Penman collection for a supposed 500k+ that was just a mid sized collection with a lot of missing keys and no Golden age books, the thing it did have was great publicity, I saw it on the national and local news a few times, thats the key to a nice sale, I think, nerds around the world Ian Penmans sister knew nothing about comics, imagine she rang Silver Acre first, Darryl would have made what seemed like a sweet offer to her I am sure I have spoken to John Anderson a couple of times about my missus cashing when I am gone, she knows nothing at all about values despite living surrounded by comics for 25 years
  10. I was a paperboy who couldnt afford comics, so someone got their comics a day late as I read them overnight and delivered them the next day, there I have admitted it Okay, okay, I read Jackie, Bunty & Mandy too
  11. Nah, I have had it years. The only FF book I have tried to upgrade in recent years is FF 49 from a local auction house (lesson) never bid without seeing for yourself in hand, especially if its partially obscured
  12. Not sure the exact numbers of Frazetta without looking them up, I have never seen them in hand in years. This is what I have, my 283 is nice enough I suppose, I had it a long time. I was a Superboy fan so chased Adventure for the Superboy stories originally, I still need a few, the main Superboy title I need 11 issues, so I may have a realistic chance to complete that.
  13. Thats really nice and a pity about the top left, I think its a tough book in nice grade, I have upgraded this book a number of times and never been happy with what I got. I think this is my best copy but still not happy and will go again if I see another and the price is right. A couple of others that have stamps just to keep my post legit. All pretty scabby I guess, I just never come across a real nice copy in the UK
  14. I am short 17 issues from 149 - 523, the latest issue I need is #260, there was a reasonably priced one on here a few months ago but I dithered when I should have grabbed it, it can be pricey due to Aquaman origin I wont ever complete this and most DC titles, but c'mon you gotta try
  15. My first Fantastic four was #100 and the title was the 2nd Marvel I completed after Amazing Spiderman. Maybe 10 years or so ago, I pretty much completed all main Marvel titles up to late 90s when I stopped buying new books, apart from a few pre-hero, Western and the Millie the Model type books, I could just never find them. My first love was always DC though and my collection of DC is much larger than my Marvel and my DC collection is dwarfed by everything else. I collect all titles from all companies so will never be complete though and continue to upgrade anything if an opportunity rises. My none DC & Marvel books are boxed and not in any particular order (okay a mess) recently I searched through for Charltons and manage to put together 3 long boxes as I was sick of buying books I already have. I have never really collected British books since I was a kid, however I am feeling nostalgic lately and that will be what I look for in the next rummage. Its never the end, there is always something to collect
  16. Cant really argue against any of the above, but I have always loved these two.
  17. Love all those Star Treks Makes me want to dig mine out for a look as never seen them for years
  18. when I first seen Mike post here, I thought we were gonna get told off for all our Philip Kaying around
  19. I have to agree, even more so that a recent big budget movie has never been made, they seem to have revisited everything else. I have all the old serials on video and DVD somewhere, I have to find and watch them again at some point, they remind me of Saturday morning local cinema in the early 70s, there would be a monster movie like Gorgo, followed by Flash/Buck and a few cartoons. Great run of comics, its been good to see them altogether, I think I still need a few to match you
  20. Fawcett/Arnold. There was an Arnold copy on ebay a few months ago, the only copy I have ever seen. I wanted it so bad, but of course I forgot about it until the auction was over due to being ill. It went for about £30
