  1.

I have seen some great rooms on here and finally got time to take a few photos of mine.

Years ago it used to be all prettied up, but now it is purely functional due to my collection getting seriously out of hand in size.

I have 21 filing cabinets in all. You can get approx 600 comics per drawer.

I think that they are best as I can get to most of my collection (SA & BA anyway) in minutes.

I still have lots of overspill into other rooms, loft and the garage in long boxes.

    I need a bigger house.

I don't want to fill out this thread with photos of comics, but I will pull some out if someone posts a link where to show them....and anyone wants to see.

  2. FP should be avoided wherever they are.

I know, but I needed to visit somewhere where I could hear comic geeks geeking out... :cloud9:

Alas that is not FP, blooming pit.

Living in Old Jersey is like being in solitary - no effing comic shops.

I live in Newcastle and FP is the only real choice, which is no choice at all...it wasn't always this way, FP bought out the competition and ruined everything.

I remember when it was Timeslip, they used to have a decent back issue stock and looked like a proper comic shop. :cloud9:

Timeslip was a fantastic comic shop, it was originally down Pink Lane in Newcastle, they had a great selection of back issues and reading copys of the new stuff.

Buyers were all around chatting and recommending titles to each other.

You felt welcome and the people working there were happy to see you and knowledgeable about the subject.

They relocated to the Haymarket at the top end of the city center into a port-a-cabin and it wasn't really the same, then there was a big fire.....no comment...... and then this shop was bought out by Forbidden Planet and ruined in the usual way.

This was the best LCS I have ever known and was largely responsible for getting me into comics. FP has no personal touch and you don't feel welcome at all, add to the fact that there are no back issues. A complete waste of time for me.

That sounds just Skinny Melinks. We welcomed everyone into the shop, and talked about comics, books, films, basically anything and invited anyone to join in. It was a true comic shop, with it's own little community of geeks having fun - it was a place where friendship were made. :cloud9:

    Good Times.

  4. I can remember the good old days when the indoor markets in Newport & Cardiff had stalls selling comics dirt cheap...some of the comics weren't in the greatest condition but that didn't matter in those days it was all about the reading and not the collecting of comic books

    I truly am a child of the 1970's :cloud9:

There was a second hand book shop in the early 1980s, when I was skint I tried to sell him a box of comics.

He insisted that he didn't sell or know anything about comics and wasn't interested.

Eventually I just gave him the box of about 200 and told him to sell them for 25 pence each and pay me 10 pence each for any sales the next time I came in.

The next time I went in he had sold them all and was desperate for more.

It was great for about 10 years as everything he bought in, he would keep behind the counter until I had 1st pick. Also I got to offload anything that I didn't need out of collections I was buying.

I got some good stuff very cheap in those days and he made a fortune.

I was gutted when he retired.

    A very sweet deal. :cloud9:

  7. Well, the dream is dead :sorry:

I LOVE the Suscha news pedigree books and even though the Suscha news #1 was a 5.5 and lower than I'd like, I really wanted that book. It's been on eBay for over a year with a ridiculously high BIN. I tried a couple times to work a fair deal with no luck. I looked the other day to see if maybe this time I could work a deal and saw this :censored:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/AVENGERS-1-CGC-SS-5-5-SIGNED-BY-STAN-LEE--AYERS-SUSCHA-NEWS-PEDIGREE-1963?item=320794533806&cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D1%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7309302528131570784#ht_1904wt_689

I'm not a sig guy at all so I'm biased but those sig placements are especially horrible IMO. Even if the price wasn't insanely high, I'd never buy the book now. Those sigs just completely kill the entire book. Now, I get that lower grades like 5.5's are the perfect cAndidates for SS but NOT Pedigree books for gods sake!

So sad! Guys, don't SS Pedigree books please!

I am the opposite, I love SS books, but I have to agree, the placement of both sigs are rubbish and totally spoil the book.

Its getting hard to find a book not signed by Stan these days.

    Keep off the pedigrees.

  8. I think my collection is upwards of 60000 with probably about 25000 duplicates.

99% of my collection is raw and I like it that way, as I do like to read them aswell.

I am pretty much complete with Marvel maybe need 50 issues or so.

I have most Marvel keys some in great condition and some not so good.

DC, I am complete from about 1958 on, ( again except for about 50 issues ) with most titles that I want to collect and working backover on the impossible task.

Other companies I have in varing amounts, some titles complete some not.

I could definitly do with some upgrades as I went for quantity over quality, back in the day.

Would love to see that! :applause:

I would love to show it, but its where to start ?
