  1. I had my choice of 20 9.6/9.8 copies at Barnes & Nobles a few weeks ago. Did you know the is two different hued covers to these too. One glossy and one dull.
  2. A Walking Dead spin-off series... That's an interesting thought - a split off group heading another direction; a single goal or search for something; one north/one south... As comic collectors with encylopediac knowledge of appearances, I am very surprised no one ever pointed out this scenario before. It totally makes sense, that it would follow this tradition instead.
  3. Not sure, Jeff. Everything feels different with this property. It's like Kirkman and company is watching us too, to give us the unexpected(no matter how terrible-underground nuclear silo, T-Dogg, bad Carl actor, etc...). Personally, I think Chandler Riggs is doing a GREAT job! There is improvement, but your talking to someone who considers the child actors of "Let The Right One In" as the best child actors on celluloid. Heck, even just watching the remake "Let Me In"(my review is on Facebook, Steve ), Chandler Riggs cannot hold a candle to those kids either. My main issue is that he's just too distracting in his performance, as one of my favorite characters of the book. Especially, last season. OK, back to the fight. Of course he hasn't been given anywhere near the material or the spotlight to work with that all those kids had in those films. That alone makes me suspicious and disappointed with all the rich Carl Grimes mythology there is to offer, he easily could be one of the best characters on the show, if not best.
  4. A little of both now that you ask. Not sure if they will just bring her on at the last minute of the Season. I imagine they would want to open a Season with her instead. As expectations would be set too high if she appeared at the last moment. Michonne is kind of a low-key kind of gal making her away across the terrain after-all(a female Mad Max). Audiences would find themselves slightly disappointed. If they did what they did in #19, it would feel shallow and comic-booky. What plays cool on page, doesn't always play great on the screen. Your analysis is sound... for superhero-type books. With on and off again characters. Riddler first appearance, the Crow first appearance, and on. But, The Walking Dead is an ensemble piece, where they play off each other, blend into the woodwork and then re-appear. I believe her first appearance or the Governor's won't matter. Because who is Michonne without the Governor, or vice versa and who are they without Rick? Do you understand what I'm saying? Another way to look at this is, I could see a Michonne first appearane in #19 being valuable if she was spun off in a series and/or wound up in another Image series. Another example of this; Dodge's first FULL appearance in Locke & Key was Locke & Key #2. I don't see that ever going up in demand or value, even if there was a TV show. But, if he was defeated by the Lockes and went into another series tormenting kids, maybe I could see him/he/it as a viable character for this reasoning from an ensemble piece. But, for now he's just one of the legs holding up the L&K table.

  8. It really depends. How many characters from the floppy have made a positive transition to boob tube audiences so far, for increased prices on funny books? Add on the fact the actress has to be pitch perfect too, to create an "awareness" and need for anything Michonne. So far, I haven't seen that with the actors so far. (Rick is OK, Dale and Glen have their moments, Darryl is the only one growing character wise for an audience connection, but unfortunately... he's not from the book) Maybe Kirkman is telling us something as collectors.
  9. That's some nice wording for feedbacks left. I might do a cut and paste and catch up on mine.
  10. Add sexyghoul to that list. She's the first owner and fan to lead the Crow Registry.
  11. Very cool, I wonder what kind of impact this will have on the book pricing. Usually, I would say it's more than half way to syndication and that's where everything gets bank for down the road. But, these are 13 episode seasons, followed by half that last year. It's gonna be a while, maybe half a generation before we know what long term effects on pricing will yield. If you are talking right now, I basically see little or no change in current prices. Four to six months, might see a decline of interest from television fans who might have crossed over to the comics medium. You don't see them releasing Paranormal Activity 3 at Christmas do you, same with this property. Actually, they released Scream #1 around Christmas '96. It did poorly at first, but had legs to cross $100m. OK, we'll use Memorial Day. I think in the end, the #1 issue will retain most of it's current value and the others will drop off signifigantly. I remember in '04 when a #2 was actually worth more than a #1 in raw.
  12. I see they have a new edition of the first season of The Walking Dead on DVD/Blu Ray, with more content(I think extra commentaries among them). I wonder how many times they think we are gonna double dip?
  13. If you have this gut feeling about quitting now, don't wait until the marketers "milked" your wallet dry. I was gonna jump off Locke & Key at Head Games #1 when all those variants were announced, but stayed on for three arcs too long. Even the prop keys had variants. Don't make my mistake, and wait too long.
  14. Her career is dead now and will have to rise from the grave to become relevant...so I can see the tie in.
  15. Moderns are EVIL! But, I hear the fustration. This once little affordable book is becoming something a little too commercial for alot of tastes. Collecting everything can seem daunting. Or being forced to buy various wares can seem insulting to the purists. It loses the book's impact a little with each Walking Dead/Hannah Montana crossover into dolls, backpacks, costumes, etc. My
  16. OK, sorry. I just saw it in the paper this morning and went "Uh-Oh, Spaghettios!" "Carry On" then.
  17. It's what us Walking Dead-heads wanted in the show. A "cinematic realism", that TV has a hard time conveying sometimes. http://blogs.indiewire.com/thompsononhollywood/2011/08/11/walking_dead_why_did_amc_fire_showrunner_frank_darabont_thr_blames_amcs_joe/ Should have stuck with Locke & Key, Frank! http://geektyrant.com/news/2011/8/12/frank-darabont-shopping-new-series-and-why-walking-dead-is-b.html

  19. Has anyone bothered to report or mention Frank Darabont, has stepped down or was possibly fired(the rumors tend to go in both directions) from the series. Tonight is his last contribution to the series. Not a good sign.
  20. I had a funny dream last night, where I was an extra on The Walking Dead and Merl was the Governor and took off Rick's hand out of revenge for his own. It could be a premonition.
  21. Don't say that! Kirkman might hear you and knock her off next.
