4K in my opinion is a pretty fair, even low price, if it's complete - for that Tec 31 Gator is offering.
A CGC .5 Tec 31 missing a back cover and missing a bunch of the front cover sold for $3,400 in 2008.
http://www.comicspriceguide.com/blog/post/2008/11/13/Detective-Comics-31-CGC-5-Brings-243400.aspx
I think 4K is the bottom floor on the Tec 31 nowadays.

as promised the "best" worse condition tec 31...solid fr- (.75 on cgc scale because it is slightly better than pr/fr .5 )
that said, it has decent image and paper is actually pretty derned nice and supple!!
was a library type check out copy (even has check out paper attached to interior of back cover)... a conversation piece for sure and cost a 1/3 of a good copy (thumbs u
I love it!!!

Awesome pick up! Freaking love that cover!

Grail acquired! It's been a long time coming. I've wanted a Superman #1 since I was a kid. Special thanks to ciorac for the encouragement. Thanks buddy!
Massive Congrats to you RedFury!!
That's as awesome as it gets!!

Very overlooked, I have never even noticed this book in my years of collecting. But I must say that is very cool! Tom and Jerry brings me, and I'm sure all other boardies, fond memories of another time.
Do you know if this came before or after they aired as a cartoon?

I actually bought this copy last year but never scanned it in, and then it was on exhibit at Yale Law School from Sept - Dec 2010. I had it graded at Wizard-Phila on Fri.
This is the Court copy from the 1939 litigation between DC and Victor Fox over Wonderman.
I am happy to say that it is now the highest graded copy! The highest unrestored copy is a CGC 6.5 and the previous best restored copy is a CGC 7.5.
Incredible!!

Picked this up a little while ago not sure if I have posted it here but its so nice there's nothing wrong with twice
WOW!
Now that's a super high grade GA gem if I ever saw one!

Picked this up from Phil. Just came back as a 4.0 from CGC. I'm very happy with it.
Especially with the nice surprise I found inside the cover.
And one of the best centerfolds ever...
That's a real beauty, with a nice surprise! Congrats!!!
WOW!!!! You could call that centerfold a MASTERPIECE, but having Kirby's signature is PRICELESS!!!
Great pickup. (thumbs u

There's another Tec 35 coming up on the Clink ebetter auction.
It's a CGC 3.0 EP with Slightly Brittle pages.
wonder how this one will fair in comparison to the EP 5.5 that just sold?
The 5.5 EP selling only at 4927 may hurt this one, and further more this one having slightly brittle PQ (while the other had OW/W) may hurt it as well. But we can all agree no matter what it won't go "cheap"
Oh boy and the staples have been replaced as well.
My guess that it will sell at $4250
$4350.
There may be a ceiling for restored or even slightly brittle copies, but it seems like there's also something of a floor. I'd guess that "most times" a #35 with a cover that presents that well is going to break $4K, almost regardless of its other qualities.
I agree with both of your range of estimates.
And P5, I completely agree with your reasoning of Tec 35. As I said earlier I believed (and still pretty much do) that the general going rate of a Tec 35 with a cover regardless, should be more in line with 5K. These EP are just odd balls right now and the fact that there are too so close probably hurt the rate of the former.
I think your dead on with the floor being 4K, and frankly due to the volatile nature of the book, even though sources indicate the 3.0 EP should logically sell for much lower (say a grand or so) than the 5.5 EP, I still would not be surprised (however unlikely) if the 3.0 EP somehow sold for more than the 5.5 EP - given how volatile the market is. And as Rick said that 5.5 had a poor visual appearance in person.
It's already sitting at $3,101 with 12 days left.

it helps to have the Gator connectionnot nearly as complete as Sharon's but here's a foursome.Ben, you the man! You the man!
Gravy, just gravy. Does it get any better than those four monster grails, nope.
Quite something Ben, to say the least.
Does indeed

Finally had the 26 graded and although I pretty much had an idea what range the book would be in- I disagree with the pq given. I really do believe at worse the pages to be tan but cream was more of what I expected. Anyway as for the better news I did enjoy reading the notes on the label. Finally the 26 gets the recognition it deserves.
Fantastic book John!!
Very very strictly graded IMHO.

Waiting for this baby to arrive Thanks to a fellow board member. The Red Skull covers have always been my favorites from the Cap run.
Great book John!

If you are a hoarder, I am a pre-robin whore
I think Pre-Robin King, is more appropriate for you, with your collection.
Ha, I wish! Maybe I can accept the title if I add that 4.0 Tec 27
There are two on the market!
What's an organ or two anyway?

I've officially turned into a Pre-Robin hoarder
My second Tec 32. (And my third double Pre-Robin)
Hey, my old 32 is back in your hands again Alex. Glad you did get back. It is a very solid low grade coppy.
Yes indeed, I enjoy my Yannis hand-me-downs.
Third time I've bought this book. (And believe it or not, the cheapest! )

Hoarding is great since it's what you enjoy (pre-robin).
It is, and feels good to hoard.
I have an obsession!
Great Batman collection Alex.
Thanks!!!
Now if I can only find a Tec 34!
Someone please sell me one!!!
