  1. Holy! Insanely nice book Mr. Parker! thanks y'all. you know how there are ugly 4.0's, so-so 4.0's and PRETTY 4.0's?? i was so happy to see this one falls, imo, firmly in the latter category. i'm just thrilled. I agree completely. Pretty may even be an understatement. Love the PQ btw.
  2. Thanks I was able to get it quite a bit cheaper than his original 17k asking price I did not win the 36 but another Boardie did and he should post it Was it really $17K asking price? I thought it was around $7-8k. Again congrats on a nice pick-up and yeah the other boardie who bought the 36 should post it I post mine all the time Im pretty sure Alex (batman) won the 36 he posted it in a few pics a few weeks back. Correct! I posted it here along side my Jerry 33 and 35. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=4448867Post4448867 It's a small world - I did indeed pick up this 36 from the same seller who sold spideyinacase his gorgeous 37. Here's the 36 again: And I also had the pleasure of picking up spideyinacase's lovely 37 CGC 2.5 undercopy a few months back: Winners one and all. (btw spideyincase it was again a pleasure to work with you back in October - your an Ace in my book! )
  3. Ultra cool to see this come out for sale. But the price, eh, is very optimistic. But I have seen crazier things I guess.
  4. +1 Anyone land any Pre-Robin Tecs recently? Just got this in yesterday.. A nice upgrade and early X-mas gift to myself AMAZING. Any story behind this one? I believe he was tempted by the devil for this book and all it cost was a piece of his soul. Sweet book well worth the price I believe this book is from the Diamon Run collection. This book was definitely a nice upgrade for my pre-robin 4.0ish club. What did you have before? A 3.5 blue now in my collection It's nice when we can all upgrade! And yes, DK, your 4.5 is from the DIamond Run collection..I had a chance to buy it raw for $10k about 4 years ago, but I passed because the seller would not take a return if it came back PLOD. Shoulda rolled the dice but hindsight 20/20..thanks Andre and Gator for helping this mega deal swing though BIG Congrats DK and Primetime! Wow, just incredible to see one - but two!!!
  5. Any chance you can share those with us? (Page and panel number citations would be greatly appreciated!) Yeah, I'd love to hear more about what he said too, Forrest. Plus, you should get it down before you forget it! +11111
  6. If ever there were a group shot to drag me out of my hole...this would be it! (thumbs u Congratulations Alex. Any collector would be privileged to own any one of the four, and you may even have another Pre-Robin Tec or two (or three, four...it's hard to keep track these days) to complement the bunch. Very, VERY impressive if I do say so myself. I'm a bit partial of course to the 33...it's kind of an important issue; but they're all magnificent. Thank you for your kind words, I'm beyond thrilled.
  7. As far as 28-37 go, I'm missing two, and ironically of those two one is the "easy / cheap" one of the run and the other "hardest / most expensive" of the run.
  8. That's what motivated the purchase. Jerry Robinson = a very cool 1 of the 3, he polished the gem which we all know today. I've become greatly interested in him and am reading the Jerry Robinson: Ambassador of comics currently. Didn't you meet him at the con!?!? This should answer your question: He was sitting at the Comic Connect booth with the original artwork for Superman 14 and Tec 69. That ALONE was amazing to see firsthand, but I was lucky enough to be able to talk with him for a few minutes as well since there wasn't anyone there waiting. I can tell you that he spent an all-nighter working on Tec 37 (doing the inks I believe) and he was really excited when I let him look through my Batman 11 which he lit up and asked if he could take a look through it. I laughed and said "Are you kidding??? PLEASE do!" Seems that this was one of his favorite Batman books and if I had it in front of me, I could tell you which panels he enjoyed doing most. Honestly, meeting him was my #1 top priority at this con and he was initially looking like he wouldn't attend. Suffice to say, I was ridiculously jazzed when it turned out he was going to be in attendance. That is way too cool! To have met the man! Such an important figure to all comics. And talking to him in person about Batman 11 is the closest any of us will get to "being there" in 1940 when it was all originally going down. That's beyond words kind of cool to have met him. Very interesting about the Tec 37 all nighter! If I had Jerry Robinson thumb up one of my old Bat books I probably would have a heart attack........well I guess he did thumb up the 33 and 35 above quite often over his 70 years of ownership. Love the pics as well btw!
  9. Awesome stuff. Some of the best looking lower grade books I've ever seen. What makes the 33 and 35 1.0s? Both books have low PQ, and spine wear. The 33 has a few inch spine split at the bottom to the bottom staple and the 35 has a few inch spine splits along the cover spine, but both covers are still firmly attached. But I agree, never see 1.0's this good. The back covers look just as good as the front. CGC is killing books on PQ and splits now-a-days.

  11. That's a tough call. Not to be cheesey but I like something them all equally. (though if my 31 was in the shot I'd be partial to it perhaps )
  12. Was able to (finally) upgrade my copy of AA17. This book is not as hot as it used to be, be remains one of my favorites (because I cannot afford an AA16.) Got it for what I consider a bargain and I'm in with the OW/W Pq.
  13. I've been busy the past few months A few new additions to my Pre-Robin Run: the 33 and 35 are noted as SS & OO Jerry Robinson - his personal file copies and his only copy of 33 and 35 ("From the collection of Jerry Robinson" on the labels) and come straight from the presses of the DC offices when he worked there in '39 - there provenance gives me goosebumps and my wallet heart attacks. Picked up the 33 and 35 from a fellow boardie, the 36 from eBay, and the 37 from a boardie as well!
  14. Wow, that's too much GAtor too much. 4 31's together, 2 - 5.0's Blues together boggles my mind. (so does the ow/w PQ on the one old label copy!)
  15. we caught it (thumbs u That was some strong bidding for a .5 - but what a nice displaying .5 it is. Whew! The cover is there. Such a cool book. It was, probably the nicest .5 I've ever seen. (Wish I had the money to hoarde - but I don't ) (showcase your sig line is & Incredible! )
  16. 5K does seem like a good fair deal for such a nice displaying and ow copy, even missing the bc. Really? Glad I have a copy but I may now never upgrade 2011 will be fun to watch.
