  1. Asking about this book in the Wolverine Deadpool appreciation thread is like asking about a Civic in the Impala appreciation thread. It's nice to look at but it won't be much of a conversation piece K.
  2. It's a low feedback bidder but what sense would there be in shilling an auction with less than 5 seconds left, and for only $50 more? I think he was just sniped. -J. Outbid by $50 is only because jump_ace put in a max bid of $3K. If he put more in, it would've gone higher. K. Actually, no Jump Ace put his bid in first and was the top bidder at $3k. He was sniped in the last couple seconds by that next $50 bid. -J. I know. But if jump_ace puts in a bid for $3200 and it starts at $3K, it will only show $3K as the going price. If someone bids another $50, they'll get outbid automatically because jump_ace has a max bid of $3200 and the auction will then be at $3100. The idea behind shilling is to drive up the price and to get the maximum bid of the highest bidder. In this case, jump_ace only bid $3K so there was no room to drive the price up. K.

  4. The person who outbid jump_ace only has 2 stars as feedback and bid on this item? I think it was shilled but if we see it relisted by the same seller sometime soon, we'll know for sure. K.
  5. Those census numbers are not based on "rarity", they're based on the book not being slab worthy. Expect those numbers to drastically increase in the coming weeks and months. -J. I tend to agree. Just because the Census shows a book in low number doesn't always make it rare. K.
  6. This book does seem to command a premium so I can see where he's coming from. K. I take it you were the guy that Jump Ace wanted to trade his AF 15 for your Wolvie 1 and ASM 667 D'O? -J. I am . But it's not that he didn't make a good offer. I'm still on the fence. I have a big problem with selling comics. I'm kind of a horder K.

  8. I think they were an exclusive that someone ordered. Not sure how many were ordered or even who did it but they're very hard to get. K.
  9. One book that's eluded a lot of ASM collectors (including myself) is ASM 546 Book Market Variant. I've only seen one sell on eBay in the past 5 years. It doesn't seem to be as sought after as ASM 667 or 678 Variants but it's definitely a very tough book to get. The last time I checked, there were only 4 9.8s on the Census but that may have changed. K.
  10. That listing ended. But another one for a CGC 9.4 is up: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Marvel-Comics-THE-AMAZING-SPIDER-MAN-678-VENOM-VARIANT-CGC-9-4-ONLY-ONE/141639888527?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D30002%26meid%3D457aafd3615a4a6cbd9ecb5debe77187%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D10%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D221745558767 K.
  11. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spider-Man-2014-3rd-Series-4B-CGC-9-9-0253416029-/131487991763?hash=item1e9d4b87d3 And the listing was ended again and it's up to $1975 . K.
  12. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Spider-Man-2014-3rd-Series-4B-CGC-9-9-0253416029-/311339130145?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item487d421d21 A massive price drop. Now selling for about $1500 (down from $2800). I think the folks at MCS read this thread K.
  13. Well, here you go then. Even though it's the only 9.9 on the census, I doubt it goes for that much! I think it's too much but that's just me. K.
  14. The census will not double on this book any time soon. It has taken 7 years to get from 12 to 135. Harbinger #1 selling for $2500 was a watershed. Everyone and their grandmother slabbed whatever copies they could find. In that same time period, starting in Jan of 2008, Batman Adventures went from 1 9.8 to 280 9.8s. New Mutants #98 went from 128 to 1597 9.8s. There will be no "census doubling", just like with ASM #301 (which, since the discussion last August has added NINE 9.8s to the census, despite selling for $1000 several times.) Some people may believe that there are endless copies of every single 1980-up book out there in raw 9.8, just waiting for attention to be paid to it so it will go in that slab. That isn't the case. Will there be a few here, a few there? Sure. But will there be a large jump in the census? Of course not. The book hasn't sold for less than $300 in 9.8 since 2002; it is a easy money. So where was the flood...? You're looking at it. 135 copies. That's the flood. The book had a relatively low print run, a good chunk were manufactured with spine splits and bindery tears, and another good chunk had the coupons cut out. If...and granted, this is a colossal if...but if Harbinger were to ever gain any sort of mainstream, widespread buzz....the book will have no problem being a $2,000 book again. And this time, there will be no flood to mitigate prices.... Great post. Is there somewhere you can check past Census numbers, or did just keep a record of various books? Just curious, as I would love to compare issues for fun. Yup. Use CGC Data (cgcdata.com). They have a feature that allows you to compare various census dates. K.
  15. how is that "going" anywhere? anyone can ask a ludicrous price. it takes two to tango. If you look at completed sales on eBay, over the past two weeks numerous sales for this book have completed, mostly in the $100 range. Something seems to be up. K.
  16. So WTF with Sleepwalker #1 going for $395!! Sleepwalker (1991) #1 CGC 9.8 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sleepwalker-1991-1-CGC-9-8-1097033014-/311274866012?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item48796d855c K.
  17. I missed the ASM 546 that sold recently on eBay. The raw copies that are still listed are not 9.8-ish. I think one is a 9.4-9.6 but I'm looking for a 9.8 . I agree that aside from the census numbers, 546 doesn't seem to as sought after as 667 and 678. BTW, how many ppl use the Registry to show off their collections? K.
  18. Thanks! It's definitely one of the nicer books I have in my collection. I myself am interested in getting ASM 546 Book variant and ASM 678 Venom MJ Variant. ASM 546 is brutally hard to get but I still want it, nonetheless. K.
  19. I don't have a 678 but do have a 667 Dell Otto variant: K.
  20. I have the Seige 3 book too, signed by JSC. Once I get to my storage unit, I'll take a pic of the book and post it K.
  21. I have to say, while I'm a huge Spidey fan, I love this book. When I saw the cover, I knew I had to have it. But paying $375 for a CGC 9.8 was nuts to me. Now, I don't feel so bad K.
