I had it at an 8.0 initially, but then talked myself up to an 8.5 just prior to submitting. The small scans look nice, so had to go with big scans to pick up the flaws on that one. I saw multiple small creases at the upper right corner, about a half dozen light spine ticks (the group of 3 by the logo were a little more pronounced than the others), possible light stacking dirt on the BC at the top, but the clincher for me was the thumb crease along the right edge.

Tough round...whiffed pretty bad on the Hawkman. It looked nice, but didn't think it could go 9.x with that upper right corner. Good luck to all the remaining graders!

Most of my losses were to that team with the black sharpie too...hope there won't be a lot of that going on in the tournament. I was recalling a GA book in the green eggs contest that had red marker scribbled over an otherwise nice book that came up a 4.0, so that influenced my guessing. Maybe the CGC rules are black = 6.0 and red = 4.0? Personally don't feel like any book with marker writing on it should go higher than a 5.0...should be an automatic thing like a subscription crease.

Yep...the bidding flew right out of my raw comfort zone in a hurry at the end. It was part of a collection of SA Batman's listed with some really difficult books that rarely surface in FN or better like #88-92.
