  1. Hey that's a cool one! I've never seen that double cover ASM around before. Great condition too.
  2. Kudos to Adam (filter81) for a great post-VCC transaction. Hopefully we have another one coming up soon!
  3. Heh, I've got one of those too. There's at least 4 copies of these with double covers out there. Yours looks nicer than mine though. Mine is probably 7.5-8.0
  4. Another one that I am not really happy with. The inner cover to this one is really nice. I haven't called yet to see what the grader's notes are, but I'm sure there is a good reason. There is an odd fingernail sized crease right underneath the petal of the lowest rose that may have translated to the second cover (which wasn't there when I submitted this book). It isn't very visible because of the white cover, but it's there.
  5. Here is the ASM 252. You can't see the water damage that clearly in the slab, but maybe that's a good thing . Regardless, the stain left by the water damage is pretty visible on the left hand side and a little bit on the right. One of those instances when a second cover doesn't really do squat for the inner cover.
  6. I finally got my books in today. I still have not had the time to scan them yet, but I placed descriptions with the books that have a double cover. So if you want to get an idea of what it looks like, you can click on my registry set and look for the ones with a description next to it. I've got 14 CGC'd Spidey Double covers and still a couple more raw ones, including the very very nice ASM 45 which I may get graded around the end of the year.
  7. She was one of those sellers that you knew didn't sell many comic books. The picture was crappy but you could see that it was definitely nowhere near NM. It was so beat up that I was afraid that it was a fake.
  8. I expected a fairly low grade, although maybe not that low. The book has some water damage and stains. All in all, I probably overpaid for it ($56.91) but I couldn't resist owning a 252 with a double cover though (First ASM with the black costume). The funny thing is that it was advertised on eBay as NM. It also arrived in a typical large brown envelope used for documents, without even a bag or board.
  9. Here's a list of what's coming back from CGC. I'll see if I can't throw up some scans when they arrive: Daredevil 179 Double Cover Modern 9.4 WHITE Detective Comics 605 Double Cover Modern 9.2 WHITE Amazing Spider-Man 161 Double Cover Universal 6.0 WHITE Amazing Spider-Man 206 Double Cover Modern 8.5 WHITE Amazing Spider-Man 252 Double Cover Modern 2.5 OFF-WHITE Amazing Spider-Man 253 Double Cover Modern 8.5 WHITE Amazing Spider-Man 270 Double Cover Modern 9.4 WHITE Amazing Spider-Man 293 Double Cover Modern 9.6 WHITE Thor 277 Triple Cover Modern 7.0 OFF-WHITE Thor 350 Double Cover Modern 9.2 WHITE Overall, this was an okay submission. Based on my previous experience in submitting double covers, I was expecting some higher grades. The Daredevil 179, Detective 605, ASM 270, and Thor 350 I expected to be 9.6's. I am much more disappointed by the grades for the ASM 206 and 253. I thought that they would come back at least in the 9.2s.
  10. What happened to the wedding?! At any rate, if you have double cover ASMs, I (probably Terry too) would appreciate getting a first crack at them. Maybe we could even trade for some GA books.
  11. I just had this conversation with another member about values for multiple covers. To be honest, you can expect an extremely wide standard deviation for the prices of multiple covers. The issue is that there are basically two or three bidders on eBay that are throwing the numbers out of whack. So it comes down to whether or not those individuals want that particular issue. If gijoed and comicwars already have a certain book with 2+ covers, they may not bid at all. He asked me what a certain bronze age issue of FF is worth with a double cover. My answer was basically, if Joe and Tina already have it, then as low as $25. If not, then probably over $100. Percentagewise, we're talking about huge swings in value. For your triple cover I can't see it here from work because they filter out photobucket images, but I'd say that it would go for way over $100 just by virtue of it having 3 covers and my understanding of what the market is for these types of books. I would not be surprised if it goes for over $200 or $300, even without looking at the images.
  12. I trade with him (and sell also). We exchange correspondence once in a while when we have something that interests one another. I never met him personally though. I'm not sure if it was mentioned on this thread or another, but he actually owned a lot of these double covers that are floating around these days. Supposedly he had to sell them quickly due to family and personal reasons. I never thought to ask. Currently he has over 1000 different double covers and is getting pretty close to his goal of 100 triple covers.
  13. If you throw it up on eBay, you'd get a nice price for it. gijoed is trying to be the first one to collect 100 triple covers so he's going to be very interested.
  14. Heh, it's up to you. I only slab the ones that I want on my registry or plan to sell. Otherwise, I like my double covers in the nude.
  15. Let's hope that the interior cover does not have that crease on the upper left corner. If not, it has a shot to be in the 9.X's.
  16. Wow, what a score! What's the story with this one?
  17. I never noticed it until you mentioned it to me. I understand that in Overstreet guidelines, a 9.6 book must have at least OW pages. C-OW would knock it down to 9.4. However, with CGC not clearly defining their grading guidelines, who knows? They either have a different threshold for PQ or missed it altogether in consideration for the grade.
  18. The grades given for the 1st cover and the interior cover include the back cover.
  19. That's rough. It's still a nice looking book though.
  20. That's a fantastic deal! Doesn't it feel great? It's tough to get a good deal on eBay anymore on these double covers.
