  1. Ive purchased double cover comics from him before. He had several double cover ASMs and he still bids on them once in a while.
  2. Very nice. Probably a 9.2 with an outside shot of a 9.4. There is a better description in the "This week in your collection?" thread for all three books.
  3. I made a trade and got these three books this week. (Sorry, can't find the thumbnail for this one) Go to the "This Week in Your Collection" Thread for more information!
  4. I picked up these three from a trade with another double cover collector. This is probably the biggest acquisition that I made towards my ASM and JIM/Thor double covers since the purchase of a double cover ASM #129. My focus narrowed significantly since I decided to look around for a house. Apologies, as I can't currently find a camera to take a picture of the inner covers. This one was probably the trade fodder of the lot: Thor #139. Silver Age Thor with a double cover. The big crease on the cover translates into the second cover, so they both run around a VGish. A solid book, but nothing too remarkable about it. This book is my second favorite part of the trade: CGC 9.6 Thor #222. Gotta love the fact that it's a double cover #222 with a $0.20 cent cover and both covers are the same grade. If Two-Face collected comic books, this would be one of his grails. This was the central piece of the trade: Amazing Spider-Man #45. The outer cover is nice, but there are some odd scratches toward the bottom. The inner cover for this book is the reason why I really wish I had my camera. The colors are even brighter and fresher than the outside and probably grades at a 9.2 with an outside shot of a 9.4. The size of this scan is bigger, so I opted for a clickable thumbnail rather than a full sized pic. I traded some double cover books for it, but it is always convenient to trade with other collectors with differing interests so we both get what we want. I'm happy as a clam.
  5. A little bit late, but kudos to BUTM for an easy and flawless transaction. I love it when I can avoid the hassle of eBay!
  6. I don't know if this one has been mentioned before: Quadruple Cover Incredible Hulk #340 Sadly, the seller wants $3k for it.
  7. Those prices are not too bad at all. I will likely include the UXMs I have in the next batch that I sell. I need to get off my bum to do it!
  8. In my experience....it depends. For books that are highly sought after, you may be able to expect larger premiums. Batman/Detective Comics and Spider-Mans usually fetch pretty high premiums. However, I've noticed that books that normally command a large dollar amount do not command a very large premium percentage-wise. For example, that ASM 280 that Terry recently purchased (a lower grade, non-key) for $74.00 is probably 25-50 times what a normal one would have sold for on eBay. However, a book like the CGC 9.8 ASM 238, which features the first appearance of Hobgoblin is not finding any bidders at only $829 on eBay. This book routinely sells for over $500 normally. This is a premium of less than 2x! Imagine a 25x multiple on a $500 book! Paying $12500 for a double cover ASM #238 is pure insanity! As for your friend, you can probably expect a nice premium for a double cover X-Men #1, just not a 25x premium! If he can get 3x GPA, he should consider himself lucky.
  9. That was the one I just sold on eBay. Are you cc_buffalo? I'm planning to sell some more double covers in a couple of weeks to raise more cash for a down payment on my first house. Yep, that's me. Thanks for the book Ya should have let me know. I had a thread that offered free shipping to all board members who won my eBay auctions! I'll send you a PM next time to let you know! I plan on doing another round in maybe 3 - 4 weeks.
  10. Do you know who owns this now? That should be a really sweet double cover. I'd like to know what it looks like.
  11. There is a Avengers #4 with a double cover. It has been on eBay.
  12. That was the one I just sold on eBay. Are you cc_buffalo? I'm planning to sell some more double covers in a couple of weeks to raise more cash for a downpayment on my first house.
  13. That's nice...is that from Doug Sulipa? I think he had one that was NM that he was selling.
  14. There is a triple cover on eBay right now...looks to be in pretty good shape. Triple Cover on eBay
  15. I can't speculate on their practices, but I assume that the the condition of the spine on the inner cover reflects conditions on the outer cover. Meaning that a flawless spine on the outside translates to a flawless spine on the inside. I don't really see how damage could be sustained to the inner spine without affecting the outer cover first. Under this assumption, I am always grading the inner cover at the correct grade or slightly undergrading. CGC may have other methods or rationales, so this may not be the case for them.
  16. That's quite a pick up! Congratulations! I recently won this one cheaply. Besides ASMs, I also collect JIMs and Thors. Thor #350 The inner cover is closer to a NM- than the VF in the description.
  17. Kudos to Terry (cosmic-spider-man), a friend and a competitor! It is always a pleasure to deal with other double cover collectors!
  18. Kudos to WOXL (Bob). A man of infinite patience. A true gentleman. A person who follows his heart.
  19. Soon soon! Been busy. Looking to buy a house soon, so I have completely cut off my buying recently. I'll probably liquidate some of my collection, but not the double cover ASMs yet. Can't part with those just yet.
  20. He's had that one on several times for a few months now...for the same price too. Never any bids on it, but maybe luck will be on his side this time. That is not a completely unreasonable price given the price of 9.8s these days.
  21. Kooties to finecomics for some sweet double covers! Thanks Jeff!
  22. I won one of these on Ebay and sent it back for a refund. It was never mentioned in the auction that the outer cover was not attached. It looked legit but I did not have enough proof. Someone could have easily just taken the cover off one book and placed it around another. The seller appeared legit and everything but it wasn't enough for me. I have no idea how CGC could verify this. If it is not glued on, then how could it be attached? Not sure about that one. They probably check for the same cut and other characteristics that should be indicative of a squarebound double cover. At the very least, I assume they would check to see if there was any evidence of glue on the first cover. It seems intuitive that it would be next to impossible to take a cover off an existing book without the presence of glue detected. At any rate, I was really happy to to confirm with CGC that both covers are indeed attached.
  23. Probably F/VFish. Not that great. Probably won't send it in for a while, if I do decide to do it at all.
