  1. Thanks man! I've had a rough two weeks and maybe my patience has run thin...very thin... Since school has started my son (5 years old) hasn't slept through the night at all. Every night for 2 weeks I have been up with him at 3 or 4am....needless to say I can't even think or see straight. I get the ribbing that goes on here...sometimes it's even on the most benign questions that don't need to be drawn out into 20 page tome's. Once you guys get to know me as well...you'll know I might snap a little but I'm pretty easy going 95% of the time. So, in summary Calamerica is a good guy. Thanks. Get back to the roast!
  2. You know...some of you guys are just d-bags. And I mean that with all sincerity. When I started that thread about Filter81...He suggested I do it as I was making a large purchase and recently joined the forum. I didn't know anyone on here and to make me feel comfortable making a multiple thousand dollar purchase he suggested I get feedback on him. I'll continue to ask for feedback on sellers on here and will expect that the helpful people will continue to provide guidance. Those who like to think they have attained some grand master status because of your tenure or post count can blow it out your arse. Just because someone is new to this forum, doesn't mean they need to be chastised every time they ask something that might have been asked before or is obvious to you. If that is the case, go create a closed forum so all of you who don't like "noobs" can sit around and play circle jerk.
  3. Soooooo, that suppository greggy sent claiming to be the entire board history files isn't really it? Depends where you inserted it...
  4. Ahh, interesting information. Help you I can, yes. Strong am I with the force. When 900 years you reach, look as good, you will not.
  5. Cmon guys, I don't know everyone on this forum and I thought this was the place to seek help on these types of things. I have not purchased one comic from eBay since getting back into the hobby. Ok, thanks. I didn't suggest he wasn't one of the good guys. Relax! Thanks
  6. Wondering if I need to be concerned or is this one of the reputable sellers... Thanks
  7. Go see your other thread...lots of great advice there
  8. True....but for $5 bucks...not much to lose...I agree that I need to learn more though
  9. Very cool! Thanks for posting. I'll buy two just to check it out...
  10. Too expensive. Don't display your comics near the sunlight. That will avoid all of the trouble. Oh yeah, those $2.99 sunglasses at Thrifty have full UV protection and it must cost a bundle to make those lenses... You really think those glasses have full UV protection for $2.99? I really don't think so. And, if they use that kind of protection from UV you wouldnt be able to see the comic book. Oddly enough "60 Minutes" just did a story on this a couple of months ago. You would be surprised how well most all of the cheap sunglasses did. Most fared just as well as the high priced ones. That's good to know. Thanks!
  11. You put your slabs in a Mylar bag? It makes little sense to me. Bags to protect the slab (that's already there to protect the comic. ) Next we will have bags to protect the bags that protect the slab that protects the comic. While I understand your point...I don't agree. Putting protective bags on the slabs just takes an extra step that the slab plastic doesn't get scratched. Plus, almost every slab I have bought from boardies have come with protective bags (either the ones CGC provides or the better ones). So lots of others here think these protective slab bags are good to own.
  12. You put your slabs in a Mylar bag? Yes to protect the plastic from scratching. Lots of forum members put mylars on their slabs. You can get them from Hotflips. I'll be ordering some soon. (thumbs u Hotflips' CGC bags are poly, not mylar. Ok thanks!

  15. Too expensive. Don't display your comics near the sunlight. That will avoid all of the trouble. I agree that it's too expensive to incorporate UV protection in the plastic...would be great though. I have three slabs displayed in a wall unit in my home office...it's nice to look at them as art pieces and not have to look for them if I want to check them out. But, that comes with all kinds of concerns...UV fading, theft, etc. I'll probably put them away and rotate some books on display so fading won't be a concern. The smartest thing to do is put them away in a safety deposit box...but I probably won't do that...I enjoy looking at them too much. It's bad enough I can't read the damn things!
  16. Update: I went to Pepboys today (auto store for those not in the USA) and bought their lightest tint...brought it home and it's way too dark...you can't see the comic. Oh well, I love the idea of displaying my books but I was hoping I can stop asking my wife to keep the blinds closed all day. Oh well....
  17. I'm going to pick up some UV tint tomorrow at an auto parts store to see if I can protect the books that are on display. Will let you know what it looks like.
  18. I have a few of my prized slabs on display in my comic room. I was thinking about them fading over time and thought that maybe a UV sheet between the slab and the slab Mylar bag would provide UV protection. Anyone ever do this? What type of UV sheets would be good to get? Obviously it can't be dark as you won't see the book... (BTW - I posted this in the Comic Events forum accidentally). Thanks
  19. Thanks for this sticky! I used the tips and shipped some books recently.
  20. Nice book! Oh no...you admitted you purchased from Pedigree....
  21. Kudos to Comicdey (Collin). I purchased a lot of TOS books from him and he is a real pleasure to do business and is just a really nice guy. Thanks man! I love the books! Marc
