And as an Iron Man fan I bet you absolutely love the movies and I mostly think they're krap. Fans who know nothing about the characters will now see that Iron Man as THE Iron Man, even though I know the Iron Man I love has almost nothing to do with what is represented on the screen.

I really doubt Bob Layton is going to convince a whole generation of fans that he created Iron Man.

Then why is he posting it?  Ask yourself that.

Your points really aren't making sense to me, sorry.  The movies have nothing to do with this argument.

He's making a money grab for something and it's disgusting.

And I hated Iron Man 3

I've met him and had a positive experience.

I think it's OK to let this one go (shrug)

First, I've met him too and he was mostly fine.

That really has nothing to do with what he is now claiming.  And, to let it go would be to say it's okay for him to claim he co-created Iron Man.  It's not okay.  Yes, most Marvel fans will know he didn't co-create Iron Man but it's those who might not be familiar that will be mislead.  And, over time a lie eventually can become the truth in some eyes if heard enough.  As comic fans who have respect for the real creators of these great characters, we should just let random artist make false claims?  This isn't a claim of some small time character.  This is IRON MAN.  One of the top charachters of the MCU and I have too much passion and respect for Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Larry Leiber for this overinflated ego to pass off that he had anything to do with the creation of Iron Man.

    Just my opinion. :)

He MIGHT be able to argue that he was the seminal Iron Man artist. That is a matter of opinion.

But "co-creator of Iron Man" is just a flat out lie. Trying to bend semantics to justify his lie is wrong and futile.

"BUT WHAT HE MEANT....BUT WHAT HE MEANT...."

No! He meant exactly what he clearly stated. He sees himself as the co-creator of Iron Man. Simply not true. We are dealing with verifiable FACT here.

Thank you for being as passionate as I am about how this is a bold LIE.  It seems I can't call him out on it anymore but others can.

Maybe this part of his "mature sex symbol" scheme. I can see him on a cheap cruise warming up to a lady 20 years his minor. "Hey babe. You know...IRON MAN (wink wink)? No? You haven't seen the movie with Downey Jr? Well, I MADE Iron Man! See this picture? That's me and Downey right there on the set!"

He's slimy. Having met him twice and once with my daughter.

Would anyone be questioning this if he had just clarified that he was partly responsible for the Bronze Age revival/version of Iron Man? Similar to Miller’s work on Daredevil or Claremont/Cockrum on X-men. Layton definitely had nothing to do with the ORIGIN and initial creation of Iron Man. In that same sense, Michelinie would probably say he originated most of the characters that initially appeared in his works.

If he clarified his involvement, I wouldn't be questioning it.  He was part of the BA revival and created some iconic stories and armors.  That's why I am (having a hard time now to say) a fan of his work.  I own 3 cover recreations by the guy so I recognize his importance in the history of the character.  Co-Creator of Iron Man is ridiculous and beyond an exaggeration.  It's silly.

David Michelini is his best friend and the writer part of the team that co-created these characters so I wouldn’t rush to judgment on anything except for the original Iron Man. Layton was the inker part of the Iron Man team for many of the other characters but may have participated more than we know. (They came over to Marvel as a team.)

John Byrne is the listed artist for the creation of War Machine. Joe Staton has the artist credit for the Bronze Age Huntress by writer Paul Levitz.

What he is claiming is misleading at best and a lie at worst.  "Co-Creator of Iron Man" is just ridiculous.  He was an artist on Iron Man.  Created some great stories and some versions of the armor.  Co-Creator of Iron Man? NO.  That's like Todd McFarland claiming he is the "Co-Creator of Spider-Man".  Has he ever done that?

  7. So now Bob Layton in addition to calling himself a legend....says he is the co-creator of Iron Man.  Does he feel the need to write this now that Stan has passed?  Why would he write that when he knows it was Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and I believe Larry Leiber?  That's a credit he doesn't deserve.  New Ant-Man?  Sure.  War Machine, sure.  Some new armors for Iron Man, sure...but Co-Creator is over the top a lie.
