  1. When books get optioned some producers and directors welcome input, while others want nothing to do with the author. So the EP thing can be ceremonial, or participatory. So far I've been lucky to be part of the decision-making process, but once a director is signed, it's their project.
  2. Coming in late but since I'm an author who has two projects in pre-production, I can share how this affected my recent contract. The first offer stipulated that I'd be paid roughly 20% of a reasonable buy price and the rest would come from residuals if/when the show went into syndication. My film agent immediately rejected it because streaming shows don't go into the old network syndication model, so they were offering me 80% of nothing. The contract I ended up signing had a fair price that would be paid on the first day of principle photography, then a set payment per episode produced. No residuals. It's been my understanding that SAG actors were offered similar pay structures, where most of their earnings would come from some vague, ill-defined source, if at all.
  3. Thanks! When you think about it, MEL has the same power as Galactus. Just on a slightly smaller scale.
  4. I've been winning on eBay with some of my placeholder bids. That's never happened to me before. SA is hurting.

  6. Halperin has bought a few things from me on eBay over the years. Always a weird surprise. Especially when he makes an offer on a book and I'm thinking, "You're a multi millionaire with one of the most valuable collections on the planet, and you want this Forever People comic for $100 off?"
  7. I see this all the time. Big auction houses bringing in hefty prices while virtually the same book sells at almost the same time for 20% less on eBay. But WOW, that's a huge difference. In related news, I've been picking up bargains on eBay for the past month. Big buyers giving up on that site?
  8. I bet this will go for a ton. It's so ridiculously iconic.
  9. He's the reason the Legion was my favorite series in the 80s. The Darkness Saga was incredible.
  10. I haven't had problems, but I am waiting for books from the same auction. (I'm in the US).
  11. I've bought and sold on Shortboxed with no problems. When you sell a book, you receive an email asking you to confirm you still have the book (some people cross-post and it ends up selling somewhere else). Once you confirm that you have it, they send a mailing label, you pack it up and off it goes. It takes a few days. And honestly, it takes longer to receive a book from the major auction houses.
  12. That is incredibly sad. I hope his collection brought him joy while he was alive. Amazing stuff. Let's hope the FBI nails those creeps.
  13. I'm pretending this is coffee instead of tea.
