  1. This is very true. Years ago, Me and RMI High Tech kept bidding against each other in various auctions, always going after the same high grade DD books. He knew it was me. I knew it was him. We'd confirm that via email from time to time, talking about how high we would or would not go.
  2. Picked up a few things. One a bit higher, the other a bit lower than GPA lows.
  3. I like books in any grade. The good, the bad, the ugly...
  4. I think this is spot on. I've been saying the same for a while. The supply is growing too fast and the demand is....retiring, selling, dying. There will always be collectors, but I worry non-key books in mid to low grade will decline and then flatline for a very long time.
  5. Echoing what Dr. Balls said. Try selling here first to save on fees. You get to name your price and if there are no takers, then you can go to Clink or Comic Connect.
  6. I remember when that went down. He was so hopelessly wrong, rude, socially inept, and an all around horrible person to a super-fan who was doing him a solid. I'm unable to divorce his work from the gross man-child behind it.
  7. I don't think he'd be able to keep the lights on. He's been paid for all those back orders and that money might be long gone. So no way to pay the bills while trying to catch up. If he sent all the books back with an apology and a promise to make good when he can (if he can) that would at least stop the reputational bleeding. We'd be talking about a failed business and not grand theft.
  8. Pretty simple. It's not libel if what you're saying is true. Mike is in the wrong here.
  9. If you hated the documentary, you'll love this bio, it does a great job digging into the creation of certain characters. Also, I had no idea J.C. Lee was that crazy.
  10. Yesterday Heritage sold a Hulk 1 - CGC 4.5 for $26,400 Last year they sold a 4.5 for $38,400 Both books were off-white to white. The one that sold last year presented incredibly well, so I'm sure that's why the hammer price was so high. But still, that's quite a drop.
  11. This is awful. Does Mike even have all the books that have been sent in? yes or no If the answer is "no" then where are they? Was any of the work subcontracted to someone else? Does Hero currently have the capacity to do the work people have paid for? There's no reason to hold on to people's books. None. Even if Mike wants to do the work and make good, if a customer wants a book back, send it. If it's lost, admit it.
  12. I don't know Mike well, but my interactions with him in the past have been overwhelmingly positive. That being stated, I do think this is a situation where his recovery time is unknown, so he's been in a holding pattern (according to a former employee). Also, it may be impossible to get books back right away if he's done the work and already sent them to CGC for regrading, so there's that wait factored in as well. The whole thing is sad and a mess and I'm so sorry for those not made whole. I'm so glad I didn't drop off my FF1 last fall. If I couldn't get that book back, I'd be on his doorstep wanting my book or some answers. So glad he popped on the boards. Mike, come back, people need answers. And their books.
  13. I can't remember if I posted this one or not.
  14. Take FF 84, 88, 92, 98 at 30% off
  15. I was expecting some juicy prices, but nothing like these. WOW. I own Harlan's first typewriter, so this bodes well for its value.
  16. Thor 144, 145, 146, 147 TOS 81 (Is this being "listy"? I wasn't sure what you meant by that. If you want me to quote/take each comic I can).
