  1. I haven't got the book back yet. A friend jokingly suggested that perhaps Miller signed his swooshy signature right over the color touch. I suppose it's possible.
  2. I've sent in a bunch of Bronze 9.8s to be signed. They've all come back 9.8. For this most recent CGC signing event, I sent in a Purple 9.6. Had it pressed. It came back Blue 9.6. They must have pressed out the resto...
  3. Two eBay buyers have sent me messages saying they haven't received their comics. Both were sent USPS Priority, which has always been reliable for me. It's 10+ days and no delivery yet. Tracking shows they're still midway to their destinations. On the other hand, I ordered something from Amazon and it arrived a day early via USPS.
  4. What's the buyer's eBay name? This exact thing happened to me a few months ago.
  5. Both of mine involve resto. Worst: Sent in an X-men 8, thought it was a 9.0. Came back 9.2 purple (C-1). Best: Sent in a purple DD 168 9.6 (C-1) for a signing. Came back signed, 9.6 blue.
  6. Isn't the oldest 10.0 something like Thor 133?
  7. Any examples of slabbed comics kept in a safe when there was a fire? I have a fireproof safe, but still, I imagine the heat might melt the plastic?
  8. Maybe they're rejecting more CT removal after they butchered that TTA 27, which was posted and widely discussed here?
  9. In a weird twist of fate, the 9.6 that I sent in for a signing came back...9.6 Except I sent in a purple label and it came back blue
  10. I did. Was a C-1 when I bought it. Had the resto removed, but then it came back C-2 as there was more color touch found. Was told that it was originally on the margin between C-1 and C-2, so they knocked it back to a C-1.
  11. Did you get yours back already? I did the same with a DD 158. Sent in a 9.6. Hoping it comes back a 9.6.
  12. Yeesh. I sent in a few books for the Miller signing. Still waiting for grading. The instances mentioned above, along with my recent grading fiasco where a book had more restoration discovered after resto removal, and I'm lowering my expectations even further.
  13. I'm sorry this happened. I hate to say it, but CGC seems to respond to problems and errors based on the value of the book. Have a problem with a book that's valued $200 and they're "meh." Have a problem with a book that's valued $20,000 and they're "Here's postage, please send it back and we'll take a look."
  14. I haven't notice a huge slowdown with USPS, but I have seen a huge price increase with international FedEx. Because FedEx sometimes subcontracts freight on commercial flights, and with fewer flights because of covid, the cost comparisons have been wild. Here's one example: I sent 7 slabs to Malaysia USPS was $160 FedEx was $480 Obviously I went with USPS, because yowza!
  15. Two lovely books in search of new homes. Avengers 16 CGC 5.0 OW/W -- $115 Hulk 200 CGC 9.8 WHITE -- $230 Free shipping in the US. PayPal or Venmo
  16. I signed up for their premium service, just to try it out. Was curious. After two months I wasn't terribly impressed. Went and cancelled. Later found out I wasn't cancelled. Emailed them. He gave me a hard time for cancelling before finally closing my account. Not a good way to run a business.
  17. This has been...interesting. Pricing + free market = variance
  18. Hmmm... I couldn't block the bidder who bid it up 30 times because...they were actively bidding. In the end, that person won, and just sent a message saying they didn't bid that high and is confused, asking to cancel the sale. Not sure if they're just a haphazard buyer, a total newbie, or it was a glitch on their end as well.
  19. It's back to where it was now. Guessing it was some kind of glitch? I wish I had a screenshot of the way it looked this morning. There were 30 bids so I'm thinking, "Great, lots of interest." But then I got a cancellation notice from eBay, clicked on the link, which took me back to the auction and it was only one bidder, who had bid 30 times, which isn't possible with no other bidders, right? Now it's back up to where it was with 4 different bidders.
  20. I've never seen this happen before. I'm selling a comic on eBay via auction. The first person to bid, proceeded to bid 30 times, until it looked like the book would sell 3x GPA. Effectively scaring off all other bidders. Then hours before the auction closes they cancelled all bids except their first bid, which was the minimum. Not sure what to do in this situation. Seems insane that eBay would allow this.
  21. I bought a DD 8 and an X-men 6 from Bell in the 70s. I wish could remember what I paid for each, but I don't think it was more than $5. I have a vague recollection of having to include stamps for return postage, but I may be confusing that with another old mail-order comic dealer.
  22. Not a date, per se, just a nice store stamp. Bought this at a used bookstore for $2 when I was in the 4th grade. First collectible book I ever purchased.
  23. I probably will if I ever decide to sell it. I mentioned the conundrum on the boards a while back and some people reacted as though I were committing a crime against humanity. I was just pointing out an area in resto grading that was problematic.
  24. This. I have an AF15 with a 3/4" piece trimmed from the cover. I could tear it, send it in, and it'd come back blue and worth substantially more.
