  1. Super happy for you! But sweet jeebus...how? With the spine dings, the staple stress, and the dings along the bottom cover? I know CGC grades a gazillion books and they're overloaded, but the inconsistency of grading really sucks (at least with the 800+ books I've sent in). It shouldn't be grading roulette.
  2. This happened to me with Mound City Auctions. They did not make it right. Caveat emptor
  3. Sorry that happened. I'm guessing 5.0 is where you'll land
  4. Ten 9.9s. Actually kind of surprising that there's no 10.0 after 20-freaking-thousand graded books.
  5. I don't collect very many moderns so I had no idea this many had been graded. Why the desire to keep slabbing these when they're so common? Just for resale? Protect the family heirlooms? Social inertia? Congrats in advance to whoever gets the 20,000th label.
  6. Impressive. I like the beautiful chaos of the thing.
  7. Journey Into Mystery #121 CGC 9.0 White Pages - From the Collection of Harlan Ellison. The back of the slab does have a few scratches that you can see in the scan. $225 $195 shipped in the US. Outside of the US will vary. Payment via PayPal, check, Bitcoin, gold bullion, etc. First get's it.
  8. I love the Larry Lieber sig. Stan is pretty common, but to get the two of 'em is
  9. Wow! Great looking book, too bad about the fading. I'm guessing 4.0-3.0
  10. Low grade copies let everyone be a completionist. I love my well-loved comics.
  11. Off-center trim from the bindery, or whatever you call it when books are perfect-bound like that (glue, not staples). If it's the same size as other untrimmed books, it's just a sloppy cut. You'd be surprised at how many go to recycling like that while in production, or not.
  12. It's a mini-run, but I had the top Miller Daredevil run in the CGC registry. Included three 9.9s and a bunch of books signed by Stan and Janson. Took several years and I always had to outbid the guy who now has the top run. I sold him one of my 9.9s, so he's going to be on top for a while (I think he has five 9.9s now).
  13. My book. And the post is in the Restoration area. There's a scan if you'd like to weigh in.
  14. It was graded years ago, perhaps their standards have changed (again)?
  15. The other ugly side of this is that there was a generation of dealers responsible for a LOT of these color touch ups. Some of you know who I'm talking about. These guys did it to increase the value of books, which now are devalued because of the PLOD. And they've washed their hands clean...
  16. I had a great experience with CCS, but this was right after they joined the CGC mothership. And Matt even recommended against pressing a few books for fear of popping staples, cracking spines, etc. Maybe they're just too busy? Or so busy that quality is hit and miss? Is there someone else you'd recommend for CT removal?
