  1. Dear God - your basic book keeping skills are heart breaking. Please explain your math on the little books section. $3,401.68 bought and $5,686.67 sold but you had $1,716.62 in loss but $568.37 in profits??? This is what really matters: Total Comics Bought $11,048.55 Total Comics sold $10,424.16 Inventory $1448 If your numbers are correct then it looks like you will be up $823.61 when you sell the rest of your inventory. This is assuming your sold number has subtracted fees and all cost to sell the books. I'm assuming the inventory number is what he paid for it...who knows what it'll actually sell for. I think most reasonable people would come to the conclusion that after 3 years and being in the red, that it might not be the best business for them. The inventory is not how much I paid for it that's already calculated in how much I bought everything for and everything is starting to finally move forward. Any idea how much the rest of your books (inventory) will sell for based on previous sales? About 500-750 Wait, nobody else picked up on the fact that by his own accounting he has $1,448 in inventory that he expects to sell for between $500-750?
  2. I think there is a Silver Surfer JCP variant in the latest Clink auction. It's a slabbed 9.6.
  3. I'm just about finished scanning/grading for my undercopy sale. Looks like I will have eight total books, three CGC graded and the rest raw. They will cover the four "main" pre-hero titles of JIM, ST, TOS and TTA plus one non-Marvel that is sure to appeal to fans of pre-hero Marvels. They're all solid books, no resto that I can find, and range from VG- to CGC 6.5. I'm planning to do the sale tomorrow (Monday) evening, hopefully around 7 pm Central time. I'll probably add the books to my FF #52 thread I started today, and will change the title to be appropriate. To be fair to everyone, I will unveil the books in the thread, no previews via PM.
  4. Agreed, but at what point does it just become sad? Do we really need proof that water is wet? Gabe apparently does. He keeps jumping in with both feet expecting to stay dry the next time he buys a $800 book to flip.
  5. Because if the reason is politics I don't understand why they didn't delete other posts related to it. Didn't they? I don't see any from that tangent of the conversation.
  6. Hmm you're right I wonder what that's about? Apparently the Civics lesson was deemed to be politics.
  7. As long as they give me time to catch up - again. I do need Constantine Season One and Arrow Season Four. No, you don't need Arrow season 4. Trust me.
  8. Looks like all that golden information on the world's only two parliamentary systems got poofed overnight.
  9. Let me rephrase that. I'm selling comics and I know may grammar isn't perfect but they can understand me. .. have you heard of the saying: You are what you write? If people see lots of grammatical errors, they will pre-judge you as a simpleton. Yeah, sure .. the odd one-or-two ... everyone's human afterall ... but when whole sentences are strung together with no punctuation, well .. you are what you write. No I heard of "You are what you eat" though and yes my grammar needs to improve more
  10. That was sarcasm I got it right this time. Technically, that one shouldn't count. The spinning head emoji was kind of a giveaway. Oh, what the heck, at least your getting better at something. This time it was a couple things. The head spinning, The wording and the fact that she only really comes here to say sarcastic things
  11. And you counter-offer, which at least starts a conversation on the book. At the price you're at there is zero chance of that happening. Or, leave it at the price it is at. Hell, double it to make it even higher. It is only two days, right? No I won't make it worse then it is but why is two days such a big deal? I don't sell comics that quickly Then make it four days. Or six. What's the big deal? Because I only post and bump comics three days in the week and making it any longer then it's supposed to be would be pointless If you actually wanted to sell the book you'd change a price you know to be wrong. What if your potential buyer sees it today? But if that'd be too much work then leave it for two more days. Or four, if it's too much work to change it Monday. It appears he mostly only listens to the stupid advice and largely ignores the good advice. I cannot blame that on a learning disability...I blame that on willful ignorance. What stupid advice did I follow here? I honestly don't care enough anymore to explain things to you. Good luck, you're going to need it. This is exactly what I'm talking about you say something and when I ask because I don't understand you get angry if I knew I wouldn't ask but thanks for the luck. For Petes sake, Gabe, for someone who posts as much as you do, you would think your writing skills would improve, if only a little bit. This last post of yours should be three sentences, not one. If you want people to take you seriously, work on developing writing, grammar and comprehension skills that aren't overshadowed by a ten year old. Three sentences? I only see two at most and what does my grammar have to do with how people take me? I know I'm not the best but I have improved if you haven't noticed. There's more the one reason for sure but the big one was boardies didn't like me saying nice comics. That is exactly what I'm talking about. You say something, and when I ask because I don't understand you get angry. If I knew, I wouldn't ask; but thanks for the luck That's one option.
  12. And you counter-offer, which at least starts a conversation on the book. At the price you're at there is zero chance of that happening. Or, leave it at the price it is at. Hell, double it to make it even higher. It is only two days, right? No I won't make it worse then it is but why is two days such a big deal? I don't sell comics that quickly You won't sell them quick because your prices are not in line with what books like that go for. You just don't get it. You're really clueless. I agree for the most part and some comics I really underpriced and people still didn't ask anything about them and I can't sell them for free That should tell you one of two things: 1) You're not really underpriced or 2) You are holding onto comics that are literally worthless, meaning nobody wants them at any price. There are literally thousands of these books out there, it's only logical that you would acquire a few of them in your career as a comic book flipper. Have you ever heard the saying "There's an for every seat"? Well, forget it, it's not true. There's tons of stuff out there that you can't pay someone to take. You are obviously sitting on some of that stuff, so get rid of it. Give it to the Goodwill, or better yet, give them away to kids (the kid friendly ones anyway). In any event, just get rid of them, if nothing else, you'll free up some space, and you won't be constantly reminded of the mistake you made when you bought them every time you see them. I agree most of what I have is overpriced junk but I can give a good example ASM 101 6.5/7.0 for 75 bucks and now one wanted it and I know that's a good price This is where credibility comes into play. First, the grade of the book is either 6.5 OR 7.0 (or another, likely lower grade), it can't be both. You need to learn to grade, so that you can say exactly what grade a given book is in, unless it's a third party graded book. If you're selling a book and you think it grades 6.5 to 7.0, call it a 6.5. Nobody is ever going to complain that you sold them an undergraded book, but if you don't have enough confidence in your grading ability to assign a firm grade to the book, most people won't even bother with you. Also, and if you don't understand anything else, understand this: A collectible, be it a comic book, car, coin or anything else, is worth exactly what someone will pay for it, nothing more. The amount you paid or the price in a price guide means absolutely zero. Let's say you have book "X" that you paid $20.00 for, and the guide value is $75.00. You put it on eBay and it sells for $10.00. What is that book worth? The answer is $10.00, because that was what the high bidder was willing to pay. You need to learn some simple economic lessons or you will never get ahead. I only take issue with you saying that no one will take him seriously if he calls something a 6.5/7.0, there are several reasons no one would take him seriously and that is not one of them. I see lots of "long time, well respected" boardies do the exact same thing and no one cares. If they price it at 6.0 or below nobody cares. Ok thanks for fixing that and you're right no one is going to point out a underpriced comic because it will cost them money they could have made That's not what I meant. If the book is priced appropriately relative to the fuzzy grade it works. They aren't leaving money on the table, they're selling a book. Better to make a $20 sale than get silence at $25. Books are only worth what you can get for them. You hear this a lot.

If you have trouble pricing how do you know your junk is overpriced?
  15. On weekends is once per week. How did you get to every two days when you were told holidays and weekends?
  16. And you counter-offer, which at least starts a conversation on the book. At the price you're at there is zero chance of that happening. Or, leave it at the price it is at. Hmmm I did think of that and it's not that's it too much work it's that I don't want to keep bumping it as it will give the people the impression that I'm desperate and there's not many people online at the time I bump it Or is it that you're just to lazy to do it? Or he really likes owning coverless books and wants to keep it at least two more days.
  17. With all due respect to the OP I can't imagine that book being worth more than $50-75 So when you come out with an asking price of likely more than two times fair market value it doesn't do anything to instill or create buyer confidence Or assist with seller credibility Ok but I don't understand what credibility has to do with this unless they would think I'm trying to rip them off? It's a OBO and right now I'm testing the waters to see if I'll get any offers for it. I like to think the questions being asked are comig from a child but I know that it's coming from someone in their mid-20s. So sad... I don't think it's sad to ask about something you're not sure about I may not be as smart as you guys but at least I'm trying. It's sad how a 27 year old can't figure out how over pricing a book can impact their credibility as a legit seller. You seem very sure of your pricing methods and it makes total sense to you however your prices don't make any sense for the reasons mentioned by the other posters. It seems like you're hoping to sucker a new collector in over paying for your book just like the seller did to you. Gabe, the market for that book is going to be very, very difficult. Overpriced books can be a big turn off. Being at the high end of GPA is one thing but books that are in the stratosphere, like yours for this mangled, coverless ASM #7 just make legit buyers/collectors laugh or scoff and move on and if you don't think buyers make "mental notes" of sellers, you are wrong. You are showing this inexperience over 8 FB pages too no less. LISTEN TO WHAT GATOR IS TELLING YOU. Also, I am not surprised to see that you did not listen to my advice about cleaning up your online presence. You still have My Little Pony and far right American political stuff on your FB page. Seriously, you are CANADIAN. WTF? Share if "You Think (Obama) Wants Civil Unrest to Disrupt the Election" - Are you out of your freaking mind? Also, what is with this "Meninist" ? Your rant against Emma Watson was the icing on the cake. She has accomplished more in 15 minutes than you have in your entire life. Get an education. Or, at the very least, understand that excessive posting of social/political views online, generally not a good thing. As an employer, if I saw your online postings, your application would be going straight to the garbage. I don't like her views and feminist logic so I'll leave it at that. I know that the comic book community is small don't get me wrong but I also know that you can ask whatever you want because it's your comic and as you said they'll just scoff and move on, that said it only means I'll be sitting with a overpriced comic and with what gator told me I said that I would change the price after the weekend if I get no bites. Why wait so long to lower the price? Only two days not that long 2 days wasted. I had a complete low grade ASM 7 a while back and that was even difficult to move at $120. I see now I'll change it later then Later is perfect.

  22. A few PMs announcing the sale, sent to the usual PHM suspects, might help things along.
