  1. This will be a quick thread, just two undercopies of books I have recently upgraded. in the thread or via PM is fine. I will do my best to determine the new owner in the event of a near or apparent tie. I will mark a book as sold in the thread ASAP and will notify the new owner that the book is theirs. If the book is taken via PM or in the thread that will trump any ongoing unconsummated negotiations. Shipping is at cost either domestically or internationally. Must be trackable to wherever these may go. Payment via Venmo, Paypal, checks, or MO is welcome. International buyers must use either Paypal or Venmo in US$. Returns on raw books are always welcome. Returns are at buyer's expense if it is a simple disagreement on grade once it is received, and if it is due to my error I will pay return shipping. Nobody on any naughty lists, or who has previously backed out of a deal with me, is welcome to buy here. Marvel Tales #94 G- -- asking $100 + shipping SOLD via PM This has been a very difficult book for me to find, I think it is a bit less common than the #93 based on many years of looking. This copy is rough, as you can see, but the cover is attached at the top staple (tears around staple so I wouldn't open the cover on a windy day) and the centerfold is attached at both. Interior is complete, with no problems that I noted aside from some edge tears. No missing paper and book is totally readable. Significant tear at lower spine, but no paper appears missing. Another 6" tear across the middle of the front cover, stretching from above the "Haunted Love" word splash to the devil's mouth. Back cover has a large piece out at upper left, and also has some tears. It is a great placeholder or entry level copy that looks fine in a mylar.
  2. Oh, I'm far from comfortable. While my town has only about 400 cases, over 100 of those have popped up in the last week. It is just interesting that some places are seeing huge increases while areas that hosted large non-socially distanced gatherings in the recent past *don't appear* to be seeing the same. It is just kind of interesting to see how this thing is developing and what we may learn about it from these patterns of spread.
  3. Just had two more smaller local shows cancel (early August and mid-September), so I am starting to wonder if this might be my first show of the year...
  4. It sounded like it worked well as a pre-SD sort of event to focus on comics, but I wonder if it will be as successful if it is stretched out to a full weekend show. Also curious if a similar dealer crowd would trek out there without a full week of selling to make it worth their while.
  5. Same in my not-so-major city, but the testing data from protesters in Minneapolis and Boston is so far running only 1% infection rate per an article I read this morning.
  6. Couldn't possibly get tired of seeing those!
  7. These are just back from CGC, thanks to @jimjum12 for a great deal on the raw copies!
  8. Can't wait to see what book got you back to buying!
  9. Really hoping this is still happening. Anyone hear anything?
  10. One of these days when things open back up in Dallas we can have a board get together. It didn't even occur to me to check the boards before the signing.
  11. Is that you on the left? If so, we met under the blue tent out back of the shop. I was in a blue Spider-man shirt. Kind of funny we met and had no idea of each other's board personae! EDIT: Hmmm, maybe you're on the right, with the shirt and all...
  12. I think that is what most people will decide once they do the math. Our next shows on the schedule are in August, and local, so we can wait and see. But if we had to travel any real distances I'd be strongly inclined to cancel if it were possible to get the money back (or transfer it to the next event). Even if shows are held in 2020, and that is a big if, I can't imagine attendance and sales would be any better than staying home and selling online in a much safer (and pajama friendly) environment. Unless there is a serious breakthrough on a vaccine or treatment it may well be Spring 2021 for shows to start ramping back up.
  13. I have been pondering a trip up for this, but may just visit in late July or early August to get a dose of Chicago food and visit some friends, and punt any thought of attending the show. My last WW Chicago was 2017, and I am in serious withdrawal.
  14. Interesting, thanks for that! Robin #1-2 joins Action Comics as the only titles that have two bullet issues. Not sure why that was, maybe the publishing schedules had both issues fall during the bullet window. I’ve never had too much trouble finding Robin #2, I’ve had 2-3 bullet copies. In my experience #1 is the more difficult. I can’t remember whether my copy is deluxe or regular, I’ll have to check, and we should note whether one or both versions have bullets.
  15. That's a good question, and not one I know the answer to. I'm unaware of any mini-packs that have "bullet" books in them, and I would think that they would have to be limited to that one month period prior to the changeover to DCU variants because that is what the more common issues like Detective #669 and Flash #85 all fall into. Yet another interesting mystery in this series!
  16. I'd respectfully disagree with you a bit in that (in my experience) some of the "DC bullet" variants can be fairly difficult to find. The Batman Adventures #14, the Star Trek issues, and the Showcase '93/4 (can't remember which year off the top of my head) were very tough for me to find. At the other end of the spectrum, the Detective #669, the Action and Adventures of Superman issues, and the Flash #85 are not that tough.
  17. Got another big book marked off the want list, replacing a beat but (mostly) complete undercopy. I'll need to get a group shot of my early slabs when it arrives.
  18. While I know that TTA #27 is technically a pre-hero book, I rarely think of it in those terms.
  19. The question brings back the old argument of significance vs. value. TTA #13 is clearly the more valuable book at the moment, grade for grade, but I've always preferred ST #89 as the book with the most gravitas (or whatever word would be appropriate).
