  1. Yes, there is some stuff that violates my ability to suspend disbelief. This is why my Flash is Wally West. I could never buy the level of ability that Barry Allen has (time travel, vibrating through walls, etc). I’m a Marvel guy because their titles tend to play by more easily acceptable “rules” imho. YMMV
  2. I was a bit surprised that nobody had posted this here yet... Bleeding Cool story
  3. The way I make money is awesome, and the way anyone else makes money is dirty.
  4. The message you send to the customer is, I understand what you want, and if I dont have it, I know where to get it. The next time, they'll come ask you first, which is exactly what you want. This gets to the heart of how one does business. Sure, you could be that guy who tries to scrounge every nickel, but you end up chasing nickels while alienating customers and fellow dealers. Taking a customer to a fellow dealer who has the material tends to work out well for everyone. And if that fellow dealer never reciprocates, it’s easy to forget what they’ve got in stock if anyone ever asks.
  5. Glad I’m not the only one on the slow boat to the invoice list. My latest box was received in Sarasota on Monday and isn’t showing up yet. Maybe tomorrow.
  6. What does this have to do with anything? If you like the book then keep it.
  7. And if he develops good rapport with fellow dealers then they’ll start sending buyers over to his booth when they know he has the book(s) a customer is looking for. Short term small profits vs relationships that can net a lot more over time.
  8. You can’t control what people are going to do with stuff they’ve legally purchased, so it’s not really worth the energy to worry about that. That being said, price the books at a level you’ll be happy selling them, to anyone. If you get your price then so be it. When it comes to the dealers that you would prefer not to deal with, just let them know that the sticker is the price whether they buy one book or 20 boxes. That’ll usually dissuade those types, as they want a super discount in my experience. But if they pay your price then take their money and move on. Just don’t be surprised when the first guy through the boxes, dealer or regular customer, plucks all those keys and nothing else. It’s the nature of the beast these days. Price them at a level you’re comfortable letting them go.
  9. Saw this book in the upcoming Comiclink auction. If it were simply a mislabel I would expect to see a resto ranking in the grade box:
  10. Probably not, though if I were to make a trip up this show would be a great reason.
  11. About to ship another package: 25 Modern prescreen 7 Economy
  12. Great books and group shot! MT is a title I mean to work on and never get around to. I upgraded my #93 in 2018 and am sending my #97 (purchased back in about 2014) off to CGC shortly, but otherwise haven’t chipped away at this title much.
  13. Shipped/safe 12/21 (didn’t pay any attention to this so I missed all the intermediate steps)
  14. I’m also going to note that without FF #12 and #25 you’re overlooking some early Hulk appearances. ASM #14 as well for that matter, though I’m no expert on the Hulk’s chronology to get to exact numbers on those appearances. Still an extremely impressive group of books!
  15. I agree 100% on ST Ann #2, but I’ve always taken the other side of the argument over FF Ann #1. As a retelling of the ASM #1 story, albeit from a different perspective, it feels like a glorified reprint to me rather than a new appearance. YMMV
  16. Seconded. We can all wear them to shows as a badge of membership in this particular fraternity of obsessiveness.
  17. I vote that this esteemed group of pre-hero aficionados commission a Hawaiian shirt featuring a selection of favorite covers.
