  1. I second this part. Scanning before can also be good for sale, as people may appreciate seeing it raw. It certainly can't hurt a sale.
  2. Fair enough, but that also assumes 100% sell through in a timely fashion. And that you aren't paying employees or facilitators any part of that profit.
  3. Plenty of people press moderns because the difference in price between a 9.6 and 9.8 can easily cover the price of the press. Not to mention that a 9.6 is often unsellable. It's nutty, but that is the world in which we live.
  4. I don't necessarily disagree with you, but ebay/paypal fees will clear an additional $20, plus there's shipping to CGC, shipping back from CGC, shipping to the buyer, and any fees associated with pressing. Add in $10 for fast track if you're dealing with moderns where hitting the market early is important. All things that factor into the cost. Exactly. There is a lot more that goes into the cost than the price of the book and the slabbing fee.
  5. I failed to pick up either book, but got plenty of other books I was happy with while seriously violating my last goal.
  6. I expect some have to sell books to buy gifts. Some people give slabs as Christmas gifts too.
  7. They were 80s-early 90s generally. I thought they passed at about the rate they should have based on what I expected.
  8. I’ll be interested to hear how this one does. If I wasn’t in Denver that weekend I’d probably check it out.
  9. Cover is detached, spine nearly split, holes punched near spine, but still a looker for the grade.
  10. My prescreen that just shipped was in QC a solid week, so I can sympathize.
  11. Speaking of which, it was not only received but went all the way to verified today! Curious to see how long the prescreen takes My prescreen had been cut into two invoices for exceeding 25 books. Invoice 1 hit SFG today. Invoice 2 went all the way to graded/QC today! Invoice 1 hit graded today. Invoice 2 shipped/safe. Invoice 1 hit QC today. Invoice 1 shipped/safe first thing this morning. Basically 6 weeks for slow track modern prescreen is not bad.

  13. Thanks for another great sale! Nothing else like ‘em on the boards!

  15. I’ll say Astonish #4 as well. Bad in any grade, super difficult above even VG.
  16. He’s holding an old slab. Do they use the same machines to seal the new ones?
