  1. Agreed. Tyreese was a great character, and his death was horrible. I kept thinking "Stand up; you're not dead. Pick your head up and beat the out of the governor!!!" I really hope he gets introduced into the show cast.

Somebody better call Tyrone and tell him to get his mess...

So sad that Rick's BFF for over 30 issues (they did have that fight) doesn't get remembered properly.

Click my signature for a proper memorial to those that have fallen.

As for the issue, it was good.

Speaking of Tyreese, this ebay listing cracked me up:

    Walking Dead #7 CGC 9.8!! 1st T-Dog ROBERT KIRKMAN/TONY MOORE

  2. If anyone wants to "speculate" on Bloodshot or A&A, the issue to get for Bloodshot is Rai 0, his first full appearance. Eternal Warrior 4 is his first appearance as a cameo on the last page (it came out a couple weeks befor Rai 0). For Archer & Armstrong, the gold logo edition of issue 0 is the book to get, then maybe the regular zero issue. It is the actual first issue, and first appearances of Archer and Armstrong.

Bloodshot 1 wasn't printed quite at Turok 1 levels, but here are plenty out there.

I'd add Bloodshot 51 and Last Stand, which will probably get a bump if the new title heats up.

  3. Keep hounding his rep for a refund - tell him about the Mail and Wire Fraud report that you filed. That should help.

Spencer will help if he can, but if the commission did not go through him, I don't see what hounding him will do. Heck, I don't see what responsibility he has, beyond the fact that one of his artist's reputation will be affected.

The analogy isn't quite right, but its like someone buying a "broken" comic direct from DC and then going to your local comic store to ask them to "fix" it even though you didn't buy it there.

If I'm in a business relationship with someone who is actively ripping off my potential clients, I wouldn't have a problem asking them to make things right. I definitely think it's in his best interests to help out if possible.

  4. Buying on ebay is like gambling in a foreign country. Even when you win sometimes you lose. I would rather pay more for an item on the Board than get a better deal on ebay and get stuck with some nightmare to come later. It is a shame that ebay has limited what kind of feedback and warnings we can provide to future buyers. I've seen so many cons from people its disgusting.

IMO, ebay is actually pretty safe for buyers. Paypal has your back and if that fails, your credit card company offers even more protection. Sure it's a PITA going through the process, but it's not so much of a PITA that it prevents me from picking up the occasional book from ebay.

As a seller, ebay terrifies me. There are so many ways for buyers to screw you over, it's ridiculous.

  5. Beware this copy of Saga RRP

Looks like comiconart!! may have return this copy already to this seller because of poor packaging and damage.

    Seth

Yeah, I almost bought it before I saw the feedback. Regardless of ebay policy, I'm glad comiconart!! was able to leave that feedback before I had to waste my time going through the same thing.

Thank you comiconart!!, whoever you are.

  6. Considering the size of Saga 1 printing, I think the 500 copies of Saga RRP will be the only real collectible from this series.

    Fixed.

In a series that has a first issue with a 40K print run and no OA extant, you have to think that the 500 copy variant has some legs. It's the only high-end item for collectors/fans of this book.

Also, the comps to other RRPs are a bit off, IMO. What other RRP is the first issue of a major series, containing all of the key first appearances? Of course the flaw in my argument is that Saga is only on the second issue and can't be called a 'major series' at this point lol

That said, I'll take my chances with BKV.

  7. So, I bought two Saga RRPs from eBay and they've both come in over the last few days.

The first copy was described as "NM" and I guess it is, except there's a weird waviness to the back top left corner. A couple of minor spine dings on the back cover as well. It's probably a 9.2 to 9.4 and might press higher, so I'm keeping this one.

The second was described as "NM or better, best copy on eBay" and was, ironically, worse than the other copy. Good sized ding to the lower left corner, small color-breaking spine ticks, bend to the upper left corner. It's hard to tell if the damage happened in transit, or if it was that way before. Regardless, this one is going back to the seller.

I think the moral of this story is, the raw copies you see on eBay "may" be the dregs in terms of condition. The NM/M copies were probably cherry picked at C2E2 and are on their way to CGC as we speak.

You think that's bad? That's nothing.

I received a copy yesterday taped to the inside of the box. Yes, you read that correctly. The seller taped a weird mylar half-sleeve to the box and then taped the half sleeve to the front cover of the book. Maybe this was all arranged differently when he sent it off, but that's the way it arrived and it looked intentional.

Fortunately, I am truly amazing when it comes to tape removal and, after a half hour with scissors and a steady hand, I was able to liberate the book without any tape pulls.

Easily the worst packing I've ever seen in 15 years of buying books online.

I'm surprised you tried to fixed it. If I opened a box and saw tape on the cover of the very pricey RRP I purchased, it would be going straight back to the seller.

Yeah, normally I would have, but I got this copy for about 60% of current ebay price, so it was worth the effort. If I had paid $100+ for it, it would already be in the mail, going back for a refund.

  8. people sure do a good job acting like they know what they're talking about.....

i wonder how many people listened to them and decided not to invest in WD because of it.

On 99% of series they would have been correct. WD is definitely the exception, not the rule.

Edit: I didn't even realize that I'm the 'they' in your post. Keep thinking I don't know what I'm talking about - I was able to take that money I got from my Walking Dead run and turn it into AT LEAST 2 nights of fun in Atlantic City. Now I'm married, so although the books are worth 3x as much, all the memories of hookers and blow are priceless.

  10. Thanks guys... Just curious. Cause these image books are just going crazy.. Thieves is getting more prints, danger girl , secret .. Pretty insane.

Follow and read the ones you like. Drop the rest.

    Support the projects you like.

In the long run, that'll bring the good books to the forefront.

Unless you have bad taste. lol

  11. they can't kill Rick, he's the glue...i can't imagine anyone else leading that rag tag band of misfits other then him. None of the other characters have the personality to get it done. Except maybe his son but he's a bit young, unless they flash forward 10 years and show him grown up.

I would love to see a 5-10 year jump in the series. Even if just a short while for a couple of arcs.

That's a cool idea. I always thought it would be cool if Kirkman switched to a different cast of characters in a different part of the world and told their story from the beginning of the zombie outbreak. Make the readers care about them over 20 issues until they run into Rick's crew and kill each other. lol

  12. Just read 96...

Seems a bit too hopeful at the end...

Yep. Definitely getting a bad feeling about things. Rick is way too happy/optimistic. Combined with his newfound overconfidence I think they're heading into some deep mess.

Also, using the phrase 'something to fear' in the dialogue makes me think that Michonne's take on things is probably correct.

  13. Read YTLM, enjoyed it...but can't for the life of me remember how it ended.

YTLM ended in the future and Yorick had been cloned a few dozen times or more. It had some lady ( I believe it's th original Yoricks Daughter) who seemed to be hiring/interviewing a clone Yorick. She takes him to meet the original Yorick who at this time is old in age. The original Yorick is tied up in a stray jacket surrounded by clone Amsterdans. He tried recreating Amsterdand but couldn't find one with the right personality. Then it shows a flash back of Amsterdan dying. The next thing we know the original Yorick vanishes...some how escapes j stray jacket which true to Yorick fashion but it appeared as though he made his exit out j window of a 2-3 story building.

    That's basically it.

Amsterdan in a stray jacket! lol

Seriously though, that sounds kind of weak in summary, but the book is one of the best single issues I've ever read. Perfectly executed and very emotional.

Machina's ending on the other hand is just brutally dark and makes you reassess the entire series. It's also a great ending, but for other reasons entirely.

  14. Well like I was told this weekend " Saga is the next Walking Dead and obviously Walking Dead is going to do nothing but go up over the next 3-5 years at least. That's why my Saga 1 RRP is $300 and my Walking Dead 19 is $500. Both prices are firm. "

You aren't thinking big enough. Saga is the next Star Wars.

I'll trade Star Wars comics all day long for Walking Dead and Saga.

I was being facetious, but the difference would be that the comic book came after the movie and there were over 1 million issues printed of number one.

If Saga, and this is a big 'if', goes on to be a sensation that goes mainstream, a RRP of issue #1 with a print run of 500 copies will bring in forehead slapping prices...

What do you think the risk/reward price would be for a Saga RRP at this point?

    Seth

Not much of a chance that it becomes a 'mainstream sensation' IMO. I think Vaughan said something about not wanting to license it to other media, which I can't blame him for, since Y and Machina have been in development hell for years now.

  15. i'm still waiting for all those people returning from C2E2 to dump their copies onto ebay and bring all the prices down to $24.95. Course that's the same place that had stacks of ToT Comicspro that no one would touch for $75.00.

The only way you're getting one for $25 is to get lucky on some poor schmuck's misguided BIN lol

That said, there has to be more coming as people unpack their luggage....right?

Then it would be the only RRP other then Batman 608 to follow that trend. There are 500.

I won't post the reasons why I disagree, since I'm still looking to buy lol

I hope you guys are right.
