  1. Superboy 97. I have had this book a long time. As I have stated before, I'm not a big fan of the Superbaby stories. Nice colors on this copy:
  2. Superboy 96. I can't emphasize enough how seeing covers on later giant issues influenced me to seek out back issues when I was younger. This one was reprinted in Superboy 156. I simply loved giant sized books and to some extant collected giant size series such as 80-Page Giant, 100 Page Super Spectacular, Limited Collectors Edition, Super DC Giant etc. These issues from 1962-63 are pretty good reading if you like DC
  3. I haven't studied every DC cover from late 1961 but the 12 centers I noticed that are different have a December cover date. Mikes site btw is simply amazing. I haven't been there in awhile, but it's quite a website for DC enthusiasts.
  4. I personally like a lot of the imaginary stories. You didn't see as many in Superboy as Superman, but they were pretty cool.
  5. This one has another pretty cool, cover and some good stories. Pete Ross showed up regularly around this time frame. Curt Swan was in full swing in the Superman family of comics. I think his best covers were on Superman, but he had some nice covers on Superboy as well.
  6. Some of the 90's really had some great stories. This one, 93 had a LSH appearance. I couldnt say enough of how much I loved the LSH as a kid and how it influenced me reading Superboy. Many of the stories from this timeframe were reprint between 80-100 page giants later on. This partular issue is the first 12 center and has a little bit different design on the box 12 logo then the issues following it. Once you can tell the difference you can recognize the first 12 center in every DC comic.
  7. I completely agree with the comments about Adventure Comics. It has some amazing covers. It would also be much more difficult and expensive to complete 103-380 versus Superboy 1-258. I get shivers thinking about try complete the Adventures between 150-200.
  8. Hepcat, you know me too well. I haven't "busted" it out yet. I on the fence about it. I do have one of the millennium reprints though.
  9. I'll take a pause and start up with the "box 12s" in a day or so.
  10. Well, here we are...then end of the 10 cent era. This is a pretty cool issue I think. Lex and his pup take on the the Supers. I did Alex's dog with the cool Las Vegas Raiders cape By looking back through this thread you can really see how the character of Superboy changed over the 12 years since issue number one.
  11. #91. This is my second copy of this book, and it's still not as nice a copy as I would have wanted. There were quite a few historical covers and time travel stories, I overall liked them.
  12. Alright, let's finish off the 10 cent era! #90 While a pretty unremarkable issue overall I do like it when the covers have dates on them showing the timeframe. Also, Lana's role and her appearance are about at peak now. Over in Lois Lane Lana became a regular as an adult starting in #7.
  13. yeah, that's been my logo since I joined the boards. I think it's a pretty cool period for DC as they were transitioning from 10 cents to 12. There were really a bunch of great books in 1961/2 DC, probably my favorite time frame.
  14. Last of the 80's, maybe the best issue. First appearance of Mon-el. Another familiar Superboy wants a brother theme. For anyone whose never read it, it's a good issue and has a cool use of the Phantom Zone. Think about this, Mon-el spent 1000 years in the Phantom Zone. I found this copy around 1990.
  15. For whatever reason this was one of the last issues I needed other than number one. It's not rare or anything, I just had a hard time finding a copy. Kinda goofy alien cover, but is neither the first or last goofy aliens cover DC had.
  16. Another Superbaby cover. This is the problem with books that have no continuity, they really on gimmicks and such. Another cool beast from Krypton. I find it humorous that they needed to find a Krypto a mate.
  17. Ok, here we go. One of the two best issues in the 80's, the other being 89. Love the purple cover. LSH FANS KNOW THIS AS THE 4th appearance of the Legion.
  18. Hmm, another super boy and his pet dog, what are the odds?
  19. Superboy 84. Another issue I picked up at a SDCC many years ago.
  20. Take a good look at Krypto on this cover, his nightmare are particularly expressive. This is the first of two appearances of the kryptonite kid I believe. I think 99 is the second.
  21. I really like the original bizarro story, it's about as good as it gets for DC in this era. It's a shame that they made the bizzaros into a comedy routine. They did a bizzaro of just about everything.
  22. Superboy 80. Most of the stories were gimmicky, and the covers really demonstrate that. It's like "what if". What if Superboy was on a planet with no powers?
  23. Another of the better covers from the late 70's. Some really awesome colors here. This is my upgraded copy of this book I got from SDCC a few years ago
  24. This wasn't the first ghost of Jor-el cover, remember way back in issue 20? Nice purple tones on this cover
