  1. I am waiting for the usual “I forgot to bid due to the holiday weekend.” that is always associated with this auction.
  2. Please tell me that is not the actual email and you submitted cards only to CGC. I don’t understand how CGC can be so poorly run they are sending people emails stating their comic submission has been upgraded if a submission was for cards only. Challenge them and tell them you didn’t submit comics as the email states.
  3. I honestly thought this was going to be a joke thread about a company called Dog 💩 Grading.
  4. SCS was always a thing but I am confused why the slab design was changed so that the damage I am seeing now is so much harsher then 15 years ago? It looks like some changes were made to limit Newton rings but those weren’t really a thing 15 years ago...so what promoted the changes to that even brought about the Newton Rings? Were books getting ripped away at the staple or something? I know at one point that was an issue more so with one of their modern well designs.
  5. It was a bit later. I was buying the GA books 2003 and especially 2004. It was pre Ewert shenanigans.
  6. I ran for the hills and sold all my GA Detective and Batman books after that Batman 11 that saw a grade bump after being sold and then resold on HA... only for Hammer to point out the book had been trimmed between the two auctions despite it sitting in a Universal Holder.
  7. Writing and date stamps were a pet peeve of mine even with GA books. Originally collecting baseball cards when I was younger writing was a death knell for them. When I was buying GA Batman books when I was 20 I just could stand books with writing. I get with comics some shops would write on them before setting them out BUT not all did. Not to mention half the writing is stuff kids marking them.
  8. I don’t know is it really Pokémon cards found under their bed because I feel like the majority of the Pictures of cards I see on here are one’s that were purchased at Walmart in the last year...
  9. The fake sale on 4/19 couldn’t save this one listed with no reserve. At $101 there is no way this wasn’t a huge loss with the cost of the Rob Liefeld signing and PSA grading never mind return shipping, cost of the card, eBay and PayPal fees.
  10. The comics I mostly regret selling over the years were my Golden Age Joker covers and first appearance of Two-Face. I kind of wish I had just kept most of them and added the other villains first appearances like Penguin and Riddler after I finished college in 2007. The prices didn’t crazy on a lot of those for until a number of years later.
  11. Not comic books but related to the craziness...I know a lot of people started noticing how much graded 90’s Marvel cards were selling for...I started finding a lot of those early sales were completely fake. The same exact cards (PSA serial numbers match) by the exact same sellers would be relisted laster on. Others would apparently be sold for a ton and then just a few months later show up again with a different seller and absolutely flat line. Once again it would often be the same serial number card. Aside from stimulus there is no denying that stocks and especially crypto have lead to some of these insane prices. As noted above some price manipulation has occurred and lead to a rise in legitimate sales as well. Shortly after the big graded Marvel cards sales, I sold the few I had for WAY more than I had purchased them for two years earlier. Many of the prices are starting to come down which is revealing even more cards where the sales never actually went through but appear to have if you simply click completed eBay sales and don’t look too closely.
  12. Fake sales also in the signed Liefeld Deadpool “Rookie” market. Someone tried to use this best offer sale on this as a comp for their Liefeld auto in a Facebook group. I became suspicious when one failed to even get a single bid at $500 recently. If you click the actual completed sale item it reveals the card that allegedly sold via Best Offer has actually been relisted and sure enough the exact card with the same serial number has been relisted.
  13. Maybe he thought he was responding in the Trading Card section and no one would notice the flippant answer which is the norm up there. The Collector’s Society needs to get its house in order.
  14. The alleged buy in and sales price is not impressive given the overall comic market and collectibles market. The money would have been better spent on Dogecoin. Packaging and Shipping a CGC book for a couple hundred profit isn’t even worth the time it takes. I had run of the mill vintage Magic cards see better returns than this book.
  15. Holy Wikipedia Batman! Should we ask the mods to move this thread to the correct category, the Trading Card section?
  16. Shaq has a Superman tattoo. Thus, Steel is the first Black Superman.
  17. Only someone with an intellectual disability would have sold this book before the movie is made. Good thing you kept your other two copies.
