I've just about given up on the local estate sales when it comes to comics. I went to one this morning and was second in line. The guy in front of me was there to look at some antique guns so I knew I was going to get first shot at an advertised 4,000 comics from a Dr's estate collection. I'm betting most people on here would be salivating by now. I hit the books and start flipping through.....amazing complete drek. Now don't get me wrong, I still bought 39 books including a hardcover batman graphic but EVERYTHING had been picked through before anyone had been let in. Most of the complete runs that were there were missing the first 5 issues. There was NOTHING older than maybe 1990. That made no sense to me. This was supposedly a Doctor's collection that had passed away? Why would it be all modern drek? Luckily whoever did their picking through doesn't collect sketch covers or autographs so I found a few things I thought were interesting. I found a few fun reads as well and some mid-series covers that were cool enough to pick up for the price too. From now on I'm just going to hit garage sales. Estates sales around here are lame.

Wow. Just wow. I've been reading some of the dialogue and have seen some amazing books I never thought I would see in this very thread. Thank you to everyone for sharing I would love to own a high grade GA Wonder Woman some day, looking forward to a day when I can afford it! ::

Saw my wantlist and gave me a ton of information regarding a book that fit the bill. We worked out a great deal and hopefully soon I will have an awesome signature series book as a result of him finding me a great looking raw copy for William Shatner to sign. Thanks again. Do business with this guy, he does not disappoint!

It's okay. Marilyn's undies just sold for a good chunk of change. I've got one of those "swatch" cards from Donruss Americana that has material from a Marilyn Monroe dress, but I'm not sure I would bid on undies. What do you do with them? Frame them and put them in the living room? "Oh yes, those are Marilyn Monroe's undies" quite the conversation starter on bingo night I'm sure....

I pretty much try to stick to the books, but that's just me. Oh, and the bootleg Dave Matthews CD I have was completely by chance.

I didn't see how much the sketchbook went for but I would say a volume one, signed, with a CoA from the Dave Stevens Estate would go for a bit more of a premium than any regular signed edition. Just in my mind at least it would.

Neither did I but then again I didn't bid either.....

Speaking of buying things....anybody seen the new Jetpack variant for Rocketeer Adventure #2 with an back cover that looks a lot like Rocketeer Adventures #1 (the old one) EXCEPT for the fact it has a big ol' blank area where the Rocketeer would have been.....

I've seen some of these on the bay...from what I can tell nothing has Dave's name listed as credited but then again we know that he worked on the books based on the website. I don't think it says anywhere what actual issues though does it?

THAT is impressive. Getting that many sigs over that many dates and still holding 9.8 status

I would like to think that it will stay that way but convention season is really going to be gearing up soon, with lots of fasttrack stuff jumping in front of me every weekend most likely.

I just sent in 15 books on the value tier that I truly do not anticipate seeing again until October. The rest of the books I have out I hope to have everything back by July. What I have out there is pretty much going to be it for the rest of the year except for what I pick up at Heroes in June and maybe I'll get Adam to pick up a book or two for me at Dragon Con again, but like Shark was saying, nobody wants their money tied up for months on end.

Based on the way things come back? July....
