  1. I'm thinking about doing a sales thread & need some opinions on what I can offer. How are regular book handled, not comic book related but say a Stephen King book or an older sci fi paperback?Pretty much only sci-fi and fantasy? Promise,no cheesy romance books. I have read the guidelines but I don't want this to seem like a gray area I am trying to skirt.
  2. Nice score Chip. Those D&D books & modules sure bring back the memories of all weekend gaming marathons. And no,I didn't have much of a life back then. Check the Monster Manual if it has the Elric entry.Moorecock didn't give them permission and they had to take it out of later edition.
  3. Marvel could have done just a straight reprint and dropped the price to get new readers interested and then went back to a normal format for the new material.Loose a few bucks now but rake in the green later on. Oh wait. This is Marvel I'm talking about.Silly me.
  4. Totally cool piece that got me thinking. What are the chances of this and the unfinished #25 from the regular series ever seeing print once the reprints are done? I think it's definitely going to happen. I'm not sure if it they are going to use the art that was done in the early 90s for issue 25, but I bet Buckingham/Gaiman are going to pick up with issue 25. Good to here and seems like I already knew that. Did Buckingham retain the art for #25 or has it been scattered?

  6. I swear there was a dog that ran around town here a year or so back that looked just like Ruferto,or what ever it's name was. Groo was pure genius.
  7. Maybe,in round one. Round 2 Thanos rips him limb from limb and takes a dump in his skull.
  8. There is a spinner rack in the coffee shop/news stand on Becker.Hard to see them but they look to be from the 1970's through moderns. The only one I could get a bead on was a Thor from the 220's.
  9. Did they come with glasses?
  10. hum. not sure I like it. It makes it look like a modern Marvel book (perhaps that's the idea) I always liked the original garish colours... And is it me or has some of the dialogue changed subtly? The new lettering... dare I say it... makes it sound a bit 6th formy... However, on the plus side they've kept the Marvelman / Nietzsche intro! I don't like the Nietzsche intro. Subtle it aint. I liked it.Nearly 30 years ago,not much up on Nietzsche at all,I thought it was pretty dang powerful.
  11. Very kind of you Roy, thanks for your effort. The case was recently settled, although technically it still exists due to the governing terms of the agreement. The litigation took a long time (I entered it in 2010 and it was already going for years) and the "child" turned 21 which means under NYS he is no longer entitled to support. There is another court appearance in January 2014, but that is really nothing more than a formality. I think I will stick to suing the CIA!!! Were the settlement terms private? I'm not at all up on this sort of stuff. Does he still have his altered books listed on Amazon or is he selling somewhere else now?
  12. Hey guys & gals.Never formally introduced myself, just kinda jumped in with a Dave Stevens cover. Names Terry & probably have the same story as most collectors.Started really collecting around 1971 and quit upon graduating high school in 1978 when I started chasing girls. There was a little local quick mart that carried comics so me & a couple of buddies used to sit in the floor and read all the new issues.I did this until I found an LCS in about 1985. The Death of Captain Marvel was what brought me back.I bought a copy at the mall in Daytona Beach in July 1984.Starlin's Dreadstar was and still is one of my favorites. Managed to hang in until around early 1993 when the quality dropped and most of my friends started moving off and I started dating my now current wife. Sold everything between 1988 & 2000 and got a computer in 2001 and discovered ebay in 2003.Pretty much replaced my core collection in the next few years, plus some I missed the first time around. Got back into Moderns with Thor #80 and collected that up until the current crop of reboots and dropped everything since.Civil War pretty much did me in. Now I am just trying to fill a few holes & may try to sell off the bulk of my collection.Church, work & the Grandkids pretty much fill up my life now.I still love comics but I have bigger things to worry about. Was real active at the corral until 2 or 3 real jerks killed it for us.But it was dropping off before that. I like this place even though I don't post much but I'm like that in real life too.Although once I get started I don't know when to shut up.The information here is unbelievable but sometimes hard to sort out. I also get the feeling that this place is the watchdog of the back issue industry.Makes me feel safe at night now. I'm done now.Carry on.
  13. Yeah,Dave was definitely a connoisseur of Golden Age GGA goodness
  14. No, entertaining would be you posting a link to the book gallery. Why would I ever trust you with $40? Sorry to hear your dad is battling cancer. One question though. 20. I completed my Pacific collection a little while back but just books. They also did a lot of portfolios that I'd like to have but probably won't persue. There are also a lot of their catalogs that I need,I think I've got 3 out of somewhere between 15 & 20. I have about half the books scanned right now. There is some really good stuff they put out.Wish they could have continued longer than they did.
  21. Hmmm.Wonder if CGC would do a request & put the back cover facing forward?
