My question is: Where in the pressing or grading process is it ok to have naked books, and tape in the same room? Or on the same desk? Books should be removed from boxes in one area, and graded in another. I would imagine in the grading process when the books are transferred from one grader to the other, the books aren't re-taped in between. My next concern is that something sticky was placed or set down on a naked book during the grading process? This just opens up more and more questions of what's actually happening behind the scenes.

I know the image is terrible, and the label may be hard to read, but it's supposed to be a Vengeance of Bane 1, 1st print. We didn't have a Vengeance of Bane 2 anywhere in the sub....... Where are the graders even getting these "extra" books to slip in these subs? Why aren't the books of a sub, staying with just the books of that sub?

Forbidden Collection. Didn't see any info on it....

I've received books back from CGC that failed prescreen, and each book gets a barcode sticker on the bag and board. That barcoded bag is supposed to stay on each individual book until it gets graded, but that same barcode should stay with each book throughout the grading process. If the graders take multiple books out of bags and boards while grading, the books can get swapped. This seems to be a bigger problem during encapsulation when two of the same books with different grades get label swaps. I thought the tags that were left in books were all sig series stuff that had to do with the signature and the date of signing....

Is Mile High a reference to their prices?
Monster's Lair Comics replied to Hudson's topic in Comics General
If you go there thinking it's a free trip to a comic museum, go. There is a bunch of really cool comics and toys on display. The prices are very high, so you probably won't buy anything, but you can still enjoy it. -

My 9/9/21 economy finally shipped!!!!! Happy with the grades, not happy that the books were out of hand for a full year.
-
That explains the issues with Quality Control! They skipped it! Still waiting on 9/9/21 sub.......
-
In GEI for 13 days now......... Moderns they can flip GEI to QC in a day or two. Getting frustrated.
-
Economy slow track 9/9/21- Scheduled for Grading 8/2/22- GEI 8 days of GEI so far, probably another 4-5 in QC afterwards. Books have been out of hand well over a year.
-
reduced it and now dealers have to pay a yearly $200 fee.

Finding/Buying A Collection: The Imagination Stage
Monster's Lair Comics replied to comicginger1789's topic in Comics General
This is part of a collection of books that walked into the shop about 4 years ago. All books were unbagged and boarded in a large rubbermaid container. Some were just jammed down the sides to fill it up. This is the only time I've bought a collection that had just the Hulk 181, no 180, no 182. Just about 5 total Hulks in the 600 books or so we bought. There was also a Werewolf by Night 32 that graded out 9.2. The Hulk 181 was about an 8.0 raw, after a press and sub it came back 9.6. Great collection! -
