  1. Staple reinforcement looks to be tape, you can even see the interior tape stains bleeding through to the front cover in several spots, so that tape by itself would not give it a purple label unless there is additional rice paper/glue support I can't see. Other than the lettering you mentioned, I do agree it has some slight black market next to the word Time, I even think the lower right corner has a bit of grey color touch as well as some type of marker near the spine by the monsters right arm that does not look like intentional restoration? Regardless, I would send it into the resto removal department of CGC BEFORE they grade it to see if they can scrape that color touch off, it might hit the grade slightly, but the book will still be worth way more than in a purple label. Might not be possible, but worth getting screened to find out. Even in a purple label, its a great book to have that you probably got a steal on based on todays market value!
  2. I have a good indication this is likely the interior back cover ad to Cap Marvel Adventures 1, but I would love verification from someone that knows for sure. Thanks for your help!
  3. I tried to replicate your good fortune, but this 8.0 just sold on ebay for $900 plus tax and shipping (basically $1,000!) Still a much better deal than the raw one for $1,536 on mycomicshop though!
  4. Throw it up on comiclink ASAP!
  5. Ended at $1,536 for a book I literally just sold here at $675 but mine was perfectly centered and CGC graded instead of raw! Darn! Strange stuff happening in the market right now for some select books! I think some people are taking out their stocks that are about to get hammered with vastly over inflated P/E stock prices (and likely big time inflation approaching) and investing it in hard asset collectibles, comics, cards, coins, artwork, real estate etc!
  6. And now the high grade 2nd and 3rd printings of TMNT 1 are suddenly selling for thousands instead of hundreds! Oh, so we stay on the topic for the selling board, all the above books are still on sale and priced to sell with FREE SHIPPING! Get them now before they double and triple in price like everything else hot right now!
  7. What the heck is going on with X-Men prices! I just barely sold that CGC 8.0 X-Men 101 for $675 just a bit below GPA, but not giving it away. Now this RAW 8.0 at auction is going for almost $1,200 with plenty of time/last minute bidding war left to go! This reminds me how stupid it was selling my X-Men #1 VG 4.0 about 6 months ago for under $6K and now people are asking like $26K for the same book!!!! https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=53186939
  8. Last two books remaining....Great price on Super High Investment Grade Pedigree one of a kind error variant Captain Atom at WAAAAY BELOW GPA and also a GA Batman 1st Batgirl appearance at a very affordable price! Take another $25 off each PLUS FREE SHIPPING!
  9. Gee, sure glad I sold my unrestored 4.0 like 6 months ago for just under $6K! UGH!
  10. First wins the prize, but I also accept PM. No returns on CGC books, raw books are can be returned without question, I accept paypal, venmo or money order/check. I have been selling huge mega keys on the boards for years, check my feedback. USPS boxed Shipping is a flat $10 no matter how many books you buy, Canadian shipping will be actual shipping costs. I will throw in Free signature confirmation at my cost for all USA purchases above $500. All purchases around $300 or up are also given optional payment terms up to 3 months (with a 10% or more deposit) to help you out with timing of funds, getting your next paycheck/stimulus check first etc. Check out my extensive major Key Kudos/Feedback! Captain Atom #85 CGC 9.6 Pacific Coast Pedigree White Pages! 3rd appearance Blue Beetle, Ted Kord! Ultra Rare/Unique error variant noted! "Siamese pages" Extremely rare printing defect like one in a million, far more rare than double cover, missing inks etc. all of which have doubled or tripled prices on many many error variants I have seen and found on GPA for such notes. The last Non Pedigree 9.6 sold for $780 to indicate the market value of this should be far more and to the right error variant collector, should be multiples of that! The well known/respected PC Pedigree alone is typically worth multiples of the $780 GPA before you even consider the rare Siamese pages variant multiples! I am raising funds for a purchase, so I am blowing this one out WELL BELOW NON PEDIGREE NON ERROR VARIANT GPA!! Clearance Priced Just $675 X-Men #101 CGC 8.0 OW/White Pgs Origin & 1st Phoenix Hot! Prices trending way up across the board! 90 day GPA trending up fast at $563, but most recent sale price was $750 and most recent 7.5 sale price was $695 showing where this is going! Absolutely Beautiful 8.0 Offered at Below the most recent 7.5 price for only $675! Aquaman #1 CGC VG- 3.5 Off White Pgs, Attached, tight and solid lower grade 1st Aquaman ongoing comic! GPA prices up across the board on the heels of the sweet JLA movie reboot as well as the next Aquaman movie appearing on the horizon for next year! $419 last GPA sale. Just $399! Batman #139 Key 1st appearance of Original Bat-Girl! CGC 5.0 slight C1. Upon very close inspection only thing I could find was what looks like a tiny pencil mark in black area at the bottom of Bat-Girl dress. Unrestored GPA $650, even a lowly 3.5 GPA is $400 if discounting for the pencil mark or some other invisible marking I can't see. Offered at $395 Probably more to come later tonight!
  11. I can see a couple of the bends/folds that could be keeping it down. It would seem to have some upward potential with a press although I can't really see the stain on lower back cover from the scan that could also be contributing to 7.5? Nice looking book! GLWTS!
  12. The black in the wave on the right edge looks off also. It looks like it was scraped at one point and someone helped it out with a lighter black or something? I would need a black light to be sure, but it just looks off to me.
  13. Lack of quality control. Someone needs to be hired to look over these labels/slabs for all of 2 seconds before they send them out. I have received and seen a few other similar or worse mistakes that makes me shake my head at how they left the quality control department (if that is even a thing, if not there should be one!).
  14. If the cover has NO OVERHANG and thus is approx equal to the pages on all the edges or even just the top or bottom, it was trimmed. If it does not have an overhang just on the outside edge but has a big overhang on the back cover or vice versa with front, to make up for it, that is likely due to mis wrap/rolled spine etc and does not indicate trimming. Are all the edges artificially sharp on an old comic when the resto of the comic shows some wear to make you think that the edges should have at least some wear, then its probably trimmed. No old comic with moderate wear will have perfect sharp edges all the way around.
  15. That's a better ask by PM after all this time.
  16. How long ago? Would love to hear from an insider on how they handle disagreements on grades between so many different graders/opinions and how often that happens. For example One guy at 6.5 another at 4.5 etc., how do you reconcile those big swings?
  17. They have had hundreds of different graders (if not more). Remember they have high turnover in what I hear is a very demanding and high pressure/stressful job. Would love to see how you know/where advertised they only have 20 graders at this point in time though. I have been led to believe it is far more than 20 by some others on the boards.
  18. Hey never worked with kelleysuperheroes but comickeys is a name that sounds familiar. If its the same guy, I remember getting outbid by him on a lower grade TEC 38 (restored 1st Robin) at Heritage in the very last second and being so pissed. How do I know who it was? He broke open the slab to sell it as raw in a higher estimated grade on ebay and only said he was not sure if it had resto or something misleading like that. He sold it for far more on ebay being dishonest and I missed out on my last chance to own a TEC 38 from a HA auction that I should have won for a reasonable price. (literally has gone up many multiples since)
  19. Your best bet is to resubmit if you don't like the grade, they have hundreds of graders and a +/- full grade is not uncommon. Nobody can grade or even ball park anything from that kind of scan and angle, so don't ask our opinion without a close up front and back. FYI, it is impossible to complain to CGC about grading issues. I had several strong issues in my opinion and their textbook response is essentially... we are CGC with our own internal grading standards, go pound sand. Resubmitting a green label with missing centerfold and asking specifically for another green label qualified grade, they instead give me a blue label .5 even though I said keep it green label only and they would not fix the problem. "Its our call" which label to use; but is consistency in using same labels/grading on the same exact book too much to ask? The last time they actually did anything for me was on my restored All Star 8 where they left it loose in the slab and shoved the gutter inside the pages (and partly into the cover) causing damage, tears and folds in the book. FYI, the gutter should be on the back of the comic to hold it in place. You would think they would be a little more careful slabbing a 5 figure book, plus I am Not sure how this made it out of quality control when I could see this damage and mistake from 10 feet away, but at least they had CCS fix their damage and re-slabbed it for me. Thank got it was not unrestored with that happening, or it could have lost 10-20K in value from that. Short of something like that, don't expect much.
  20. The front shows well! Other than the tape on the back spine, what are all those other stains on the back cover?
  21. Nice pick up! That's a heck of a lot better copy than you can get for 1K with no restoration. Now you can leave it as is, remove the resto or do some pro resto to make it look really nice and be in a good spot value wise either way!
