  1. A better indicator is to look at the completed raw ones. There's clearly a strong market for this book.

That was the first list I provided... You trying to take my shine?? :taptaptap:

Still for the age of the book, there's not many listed on the eBay. Maybe there's still a lot lurking in back issue bins or $1 bins?!?

Earlier this year, I found one at a small show in a dealer's bargain boxes. I think I paid about $2-3 for it. It's certainly nowhere near a 9.8 but still a nice pickup for that price.

Nice! I like to pick up low grade copies just to read those stories, especially for titles that don't have TPB

  2. Comic themed magazines can still be a part of the comic universe continuity.

I vote for the first app, wherever it occurs. I don't subscribe to "first comic book appearance" wildly_fanciful_statement when the true first app is in a magazine, as is the case with Starlord and Rocket Raccoon. Hulk 271 is the 2nd appearance of RR. Marvel Spotlight (vol2) # 6 is the 2nd appearance of Starlord.

Curious, would you consider a character's true first appearance in a book or pulp as their first appearance? Or does it have to be drawn along with the story - not just cover art. Conan and the Shadow come to mind as possibilities...

  3. A lot of important characters to the Marvel Universe have made their first debuts in comic magazines. Often, that character's continuity in the universe doesn't coincide with their comic book equivalent. That made me curious; what is more important, a characters 1st appearance in comic mag or comic book?

  4. Thicker skin or not, all boards are like this to some degree...and some people just want to up their post count and find it's easier to post or troll their way to 10,000 instead of contributing.

Look back at your first post to the boards and how you were welcomed (at least I felt that way) and try to bring that to the first-timers. We want people to join the hobby and have respect for our culture, right?

Can we go back to talking about comics :)

  5. I have a nice set of the early ones with a few copies of #1. Not sure if they will ever be worth much really with the amount that was printed, but they are always fun to go back and look through. I'd pay $1 a book for a complete run just to read if one came up.

Do you have any in low grade that you'd part with cheaply? Or maybe high grade duplicates? PM me...
