  1. A solution in search of a problem
  2. just ignore the ebay sales. noise. lots of copies up on HA for reliable data points.
  3. TBH I don't think that's fair or accurate. It gives us both numbers every time we bid. We have to be really not paying attention to "forget" that there is 20% extra. We are reminded at every step of the process.
  4. OK - let us know when you are done with your outrage over a 1995 duck story.
  5. A sequel to a 1950s story reads like a 1950s story! hmmmmmmmm I imagine that was exactly the point.
  6. Again, I haven’t read the story in a long while, but the very idea of “racist Scrooge art” kinda cracks me up. It’s a talking duck that wears no pants. I guess we should outlaw every story he ever appeared in due to the indecent exposure.
  7. I haven’t read the story in a long time but off the cuff I have a hard time calling a cartoon zombie offensive.
  8. Thanks, that's interesting. You don't think there's a common sense element of "you bought a fukkin digital file with no inherent value"?
  9. I’m not a lawyer but I’d have to assume it will get laughed out of court. Maybe they are just hoping for a small settlement ? Surely they don’t want to actually try the case?
  10. Exactly boo frickin hoo! They bought a fukkin jpg. What did they expect was going to happen?
  11. Sure, but I'd bet money its the way I laid it out. I've had that same fee structure on consignments myself.
  12. I enjoyed the story, and the Kirby artwork, but I also enjoyed trying to shoot the hell out of those easter island pr*cks in about 1987 on the Nintendo.
  13. I think he's confused on the usage of the 'hammer price' term. You can get SP waived with big enough aggregate consignments. So if something hammers at 55k, its 66 with the juice, and HA sends you a check for 55. Fees are 1/6 of the all-in price, or 16.66% which he's rounding to 17%.
  14. Batman's quite a ballerina with the crime-fighting toe walking there.
  15. It would be nice if the HA description was more clear. Given that they haven't come out and said these are the only pages that exist, I imagine at least some bidders will ask the question and assume there is another set if they don't get an answer. I find it a bit contradictory that HA specifies the page numbers in the title as though they are the published pieces, but then in the description mentions the rework. Are these the published pages or not? With the current description I'd have to assume not.
  16. Good thoughts. I’ve seen similar gifts in other collecting areas and while I know nothing about this particular gift I’ve come to think these gifts are often exclusion in the guise of “sharing”. I suppose given you’ve worked with a museum you’re in a good position to weigh in on that. Would you say some donors are interested in ensuring that, effectively, no one gets a hand on their precious?
  17. Thanks Glen. ST89 cover seemed too good to be true. Great tidbit about hulk 1 also
  18. I could be wrong but i don't think you need the "eastman and laird's" either
  19. I'm unclear what you mean by having them "reprepped"? Were they graded more than once?
  20. Added all of yours except the FFF (pre hero), rawhide kid (not hero) and avengers 34,36 (already on the list). Thanks Lee!
