  1. the image looks terrific so it never occurred to me until now but that flexed scuba fin would be pushing back pretty hard... it would be pretty hard to stand nonchalantly with all that flex.
  2. I saw that too and was surprised it didn't go a bit higher. I think Dave's page has the advantage of having a more memorable villain which is why I think 120k is probably the floor for Dave's page.
  3. see the felix podcast thread. Mandel spent a few million on props including an xwing from star wars, so he's letting some comic OA go
  4. besides, it might be as simple as - I have props from the movie, so this comic cover is expendable, throw it on the pile.
  5. I'm not so sure. What do you think its worth? My super uneducated guess guess is 15-20k for the fact its the #1. I don't see it as massively valuable, but I really have no idea.
  6. Of course. All about whatever flashy thing came out last week. And that model isn't sustainable because there's always something else flashier coming out next week.
  7. No disrespect to anyone that collects shoes, but I don't get it. I look at that the way most people probably look at comic art collecting: da fuq?
  8. its got some room to move yet. Its a terrific page. I figure 120 minimum for one of that quality.
  9. I'm not sure why you expected it to thaw I figure its worse when she's not on air. Look, I think part of her can understand that he's selling stuff to pay for it, and she must understand that he has a good career and no doubt provides the family with everything they could want, but wives generally look at collectibles as frivolous spending. They don't see the value in it. We as the husbands generally rationalize it away at least partly as an investment (Dave did so himself by saying - as long as the kids can get the money back one day and I enjoyed owning it then its a win) where to the wives its useless trash that they would literally sell tomorrow if we were gone. It clutters up the home to them and its money they could spend on stuff of value to them (and I'm cringing as I write this) like shoes, purses and kitchen remodels.
  10. That bond painting at propstore as well. So he's 4m deep between those three items. Big checks, but good for him.
  11. that's the one I listened to as well - good episode, and relatable to those outside of props.
  12. Everyone's appetite for baggage and capacity to take it on (space, money, time) is different. I definitely feel like I have enough, and wish I had more, at the same time.
  13. Always enjoy your episodes Felix, well done. I rarely listen to 'the stuff dreams are made of' but I happened to listen to the latest episode, also taking about the x wing and related items, right before you posted your new episode. Interesting to see Dave letting go of pieces but those props don't pay for themselves! I think many of us have been there in terms of buying something we really liked but then had to turn around and sell a few things we also liked in order to square up the math. That's plain to hear throughout the episode and its a pretty relatable experience, just at a significantly higher dollar number than most. Same process, same decisions, same emotional baggage!
  14. Wow! I am quite surprised, those sound like your 2008 & 2009 numbers! I didn't realize you'd fired the acquisition machine back up.
  15. I dunno if it really fits, other than his nose being red with communism, But I can't imagine anyone else as the Rudolph / leader of this gang of misfits:
  16. with Goom's opera cape, he must be quite a singer, so I'll nominate him for Donner
  17. I get your reaction. On many pieces I'd agree, but I don't find this signature placement obtrusive, and I dig the signature in this case. Not everyone will have the same POV. I'll say this, if I paid to purchase it for my collection, I wouldn't seek out arnie to get it signed because it wouldn't help resale. As something to own for myself as a forever piece so to speak, I'd dig the signature.
  18. I’m sure people who look at comic art without knowing comics feel the same way. Heck I remember feeling that way when I was first exposed to comic OA and that was with the benefit of years and years of comic collecting in my back pocket. It all starts to make sense pretty quick when you follow it more actively.
