  1. Nice book, still undervalued IMHO (thumbs u Super tough to find in high grade. I've got four 5.0s and now this 5.5. I can't seem to get one in high grade
  2. Just got this 5 minutes ago. The front cover is in the 8.0 range I'd say, but there was a small water mark on the top of the back cover. I was thinking 5.0 or 5.5, so again, I'm pretty happy.
  3. Just got this 5 minutes ago. Wasn't sure how they'd grade this with the big store stamp on the front. I'm pretty happy with a 5.5.
  4. I wonder if this was down graded slightly for the signature on the cover. Beautiful. Very jealous.
  5. I can't remember if I joined this club yet. I got this in last week. I have this one too, but I'm going to sell it so hopefully I won't have it long.
  6. Finally getting around to starting this thread. Please leave feedback. Thanks.
  7. Just got my Express Submission back. I shipped it 12/21 got them back 1/7 Waiting on an Economy that I sent in on 11/14 Waiting on my 4 free submissions (coupon) that I sent in on 12/7 Waiting on my Standard submission that I sent on 12/21 Waiting on an Economy fast track that I sent on 12/21
  8. My understanding is that they have been more lenient on the mid grades but tougher on the ultra high grade 9.4+ Was the book pressed before being sent off? If so did the scans in the thread show it before or after pressing? Good point. The photos I shared on the thread were prepress. BUT, I'm really not sure the pressing changed much on this comic. I had it pressed because..... it just seems like you need to do that these days, on the off chance you gain a half grade. I personally graded it as a 4.0 when I held it in my hands.
  9. This debunks my theory about WAY stricter grading from CGC these days, because every one of these did as good or better than I thought they would do. I only have the DD 1 pegged as a 7.0 and I only had the Hulk1 pegged as a 4.5 at the best. Woo hoo for me!
  10. I had posted the Hulk 1 on the "spare a grade" thread and the highest you guys gave me was a 4.0 with most of you giving me a 3.5. So there.
  11. Just got these 4 back. Very happy with the grades.
  12. Mine still says "scheduled for grading". Is there somewhere I can punch in my invoice #s to see what stage they're in, or do you have to call CGC? http://comics.www.collectors-society.com/Member_Dashboard.aspx --> COMICS --> Grading & Submissions --> Order Status This is assuming you've got an account. My comics were submitted by Classics Incorporated. I have the invoice #s but it won't show me the status because I'm not them. I'll just have to call them tomorrow I guess.
  13. Mine still says "scheduled for grading". Is there somewhere I can punch in my invoice #s to see what stage they're in, or do you have to call CGC? I've got some fast tracked economies that were received around Nov 4 and I'm wondering where they are. I thought the "fast track" payment was supposed to cut the 40 days in half. They've had them over 40 days now (shouldn't they refund my "fast track" payment?)
  14. Found a box with this on my doorstep 10 minutes ago. It's like Christmas. Fast turn around time on this. It only took 17 business days. I was thinking 8.0 to 8.5 myself so I am somewhat disappointed. Comic does have a name stamp on the back, a light date stamp on the front, and some initials written in the upper left "Marvel Box" so I guess that's where it got dinged on the grade. Sweet looking comic.... dang that 8.0 would have been nice. The good news is I only paid $50 for it raw so this one's a steal for me.
  15. When did you sell that? I bought a really nice Cap 1 that was missing the cf a few years ago on ebay. One of my best purchases ever!!! I wonder if it was yours?
  16. I sold a high grade collection of Action Comics #25 - 120 five years ago. I was just getting back into the hobby when I found them and didn't know anything about CGC or GPA at the time. I sold them all on ebay and actually made a nice profit, but have been kicking myself ever since. 1/5 of them were easily 9.0s and if I would have taken my time and had them all slabbed I would have made a fortune (or I would have kept all of the super high grade ones for myself). I really didn't know what I had. I'll never see a collection like that again. Regret regret regret. Also, I stupidly sold an AF15 1.0 2 years ago for a mere $1000 to a dealer who talked me out of it. I had no reason to sell it... he literally talked me out of it, and he even made me feel like I was getting a deal. I wasn't subscribed to GPA at the time so I really didn't have a great idea of what they were going for.
  17. Ain't that a hoot? Well it is definitely more rare. We will have to wait and see if it gets recycled as often. I hope not ! I'm sure being the highest graded copy obviously played a significant role in the final hammer price. All things equal would it still be worth more than the Marvel? if there was only one cgc 9.0 (and library of congress copy to boot) of marvel 1 brought fresh to market my guess it is would sell for way more than 281 (I know I would be willing to pay more for it than the whiz) I guess I missed the news about the Library of Congress releasing comics. What other comics did they release and who technically owns then when they release them? Does the money go back to the Library of Congress?
  18. I'm curious as to what this set you back. Do you mind sharing? Are these 5.0s selling for over $2k now? Surely one with white pages is. I sold a 4.5 for around $1450 recently so I know they're going up in price. I'd love to get my hands on a 6.0 but they never seem to come up. And the 7.0s are now priced out of range. I just sent one into CGC for slabbing but I'm afraid it's only going to be in the 4.0 range. I'll post a photo when it comes back. I sold this back in august for 1755 http://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fauctions%2Easp&id=939613 by my calculations this upgrade run me about a few hundred more. This book was $1883. The WPs are what I find to be what makes this book a killer. Here is the back I guess the foxing on the back brought it down in grade. The front cover looks super nice to me though, and the White pages.... I think you got a great deal on this for $1883. I predict a year from now this is a $2500 book minimum. I still have never bought a comic through CC but if this comic is an indicator of what I'm missing I need to get over there and bid.
  19. BTW, I have three 5.0s myself and yours looks nicer than all three of mine. I'm jealous. Is there a bad flaw on the back? The front looks really nice.

  21. I'm not sure I agree... Who cares if WW is not on this cover. All Star 8 is probably one of my top 5 favorite Golden Age covers. WW 1st appearance and a great cover makes this a good investment for me at least. Strange Tales 110 is an example of an important 1st appearance that has a lousy cover. It took a long time for Marvel to give Doc Strange a decent cover.
  22. That's unfortunate it dropped so far in grade. I did the same thing with an AF15 7.0 with a slight color touch. Matt took the CT off and resubmitted it. I was hoping for a 6.0 and it actually came back as a 7.0!!! I was floored.
  23. The last Superman 1 cgc 2.0 sold at $19,120 (2010) The last Batman 1 cgc 2.0 sold at $22,726 (2011) The last Cap 1 cgc 2.0 sold at $24,100 (last night) Captain America is right there with the big boys. Except for Action 1 & Tec 27 this is most likely the highest selling 2.0 of all time. I can't wait to see what the next "higher grade" Cap 1 goes for. 1 mil?
  24. I have to admit it was a sweet looking 2.0 Cap 1.
