  1. I'm assuming you're planning to press it. With a press it looks like it's going to grade very high. Congrats
  2. Once you get it graded it will certainly be the NEW highest graded on the census.
  3. Precode crime comic in exceptional condition. Cover and cf are snug at the staples. Spine is excellent (what look like spine tics are actually part of the artwork). I only count 1 actual spine tic and it's minor. Corners are nice. Tiny sliver of sun shadow on back cover. Comic has not been pressed so it will be even better.
  4. Cool precode crime comic. Love the skull & snake pit cover & skull splash page. Overall, pretty nice shape for it's age. Cover and CF are super snug at the staples with no tearing. Tiny corner missing from bottom right corner. Horrible staple placement on the comic. Comic could use a press. There is a "hint" of a stain in the upper right corner of a few interior pages including the splash page. The spine is in excellent shape except for one super tiny (chip?). I took a close-up of the chip... it's less than 1/8" wide x 1/4" long....I'm too scared to fiddle with it cuz I think it's just barely holding on. What looks to be a stain on the back cover, is not. It's the natural tanning of the paper (I've seen this in the "white" of many comics of the same era).
  5. Another comic I simply would never buy, but the condition was SO nice so I couldn't resist. This is from 1952.... The colors on the cover are dripping with brightness. This hasn't been pressed. This has to grade in the 9s, right? Now..... does any one in the world actually collect this comic???
  6. Here's a weird little comic from 1952. Not something I would normally pick up but it was in great shape. Die-cut front cover, and I added a pic of the Splash page so you could see the Keyhole joke. Front cover and spine seem to be just about perfect. Back cover has some foxing dots at the bottom.
  7. A good buddy of mine died a few weeks ago. He did a show called the "Ded Bob Sho" at Renaissance Fairs (I've worked Ren Fests as an entertainer for 35 years). If you never saw the Ded Bob show you really missed out, it was hilarious. Anyway, in digging up old pics of him for a memorial, I ran across an old cartoon I did 30 years ago for a Ren Fest Newsletter. Obviously an adaption of a Calvin and Hobbes strip. My friend's last name was Orwick, so I called it "Orwick and Bobbes"
  8. Honestly, from the front I would have guessed at least a 4.0. If you paid a 1.0 price then you did VERY well.
  9. Strange Tales 180 CGC SS 9.6 with WHITE pages Signed by Jim Starlin Last GPA sale was last Dec for $1200 (before the crazy price build up) $1125 shipped
  10. SOLD Doctor Strange 169 CGC 7.5 with OW-W pages (old label goodness) I don't think this comic has been pressed or cleaned. This slab has a hint of a bow to it. I've had a couple that did this and usually they were the older slabs like this one. It doesn't affect the comic at all Last GPA sale was a little over a week ago at $610 $500 shipped
  11. SOLD FF 48 CGC 6.0 with OW-W pages I think it "presents" like a 6.5 - 7.0 from the front, but the name stamp on the back and a few dots of foxing on the back pulled the grade down I think. While the last GPA 6.0 only went for $2500, a 5.5 went for $2795, and a 6.5 went for $3650 It's arguably one of the 5 hottest comics in the hobby so..... $3000 shipped
  12. SOLD Hulk 180 CGC 7.0 with WHITE pages This comic has NOT been pressed and I see some pressable flaws. Good candidate for a press & resub. This comic is on FIRE right now. Last 2 GPA copies sold for $2000 each just days ago. Last 7.5 went for $2750 just a few days ago. $1950 shipped
  13. Normal Rules apply No HOS or Probies US Destinations only Payment with Check or MO Comic will be sent USPS Insured. No returns on slabbed comics, returns ok on raw (you pay shipping). 1st in the thread wins it.
  14. OK, I've got a 9.0 of this. Now, Falcon..... for the love of God...... don the costume before the "Falcon & Winter Soldier" series ends. (cgc needs to start putting "1st time Sam Wilson dons Caps costume" on the label too)
  15. I don't know when I bought this but it's pretty cool to look into my collection and see it (and not even know I had it). 9.8 no less
  16. Australian Strange Tales 4. Awesome cover. I never knew the Hulks feet were so important. Almost looks like an alternate universe Fantastic Four pin-up
  17. Great post, with great pics. I had to fix one thing for you. They don't just "look" the same.... they ARE the same.
  18. KirbyJack did you guess this or take a peek at the GCD notes? GCD says Marie Severin likely did a cover sketch and handed it off to Jack Kirby. Kirby penciled then handed it off to Bill Everett to ink. Then John Romita altered (redrew?) the Falcon. And finally.... they decided they needed Diamondhead added to the cover so Marie Severin squeezed him in. (The cover looks off balance with Diamond head squeezed in). It really would be an interesting piece of original art to look at.
  19. Wow, you guys are good. How about this Subby? It could be from 1944 or older.
  20. Sam IS going to become the new Captain America by the end of this series, right? We've seen footage of him practicing throwing the shield so he and Bucky must steal it. Maybe Bucky will don the costume and take up the shield? I really enjoyed the 1st two episodes. Zemo is hopefully coming next episode.
  21. I was selling some Caps on Ebay last week & I discovered this little gem. Cap 126. First, it is the 5th appearance of Falcon (so it's early Falcon), but most importantly..... it is the first time Falcon dons Captain America's Suit and takes up the Shield. It also has great Gene Colan art which helps it out too. Here's the panel where he dons the suit. Curiously, this little fact wasn't put on the CGC labels or addressed in the OSG so it's been flying under the radar. I think most people think that Captain America 25 from the 2014 series is the 1st time Sam dons the costume, but they're wrong.
