  1. Wait until he get's to advanced terms like "Distribution Overspray" and "Newton Rings"
  2. With all of your questions, it sounds like you're seriously diving deeper into this wonderful hobby. Some of the terms used are like speaking a new language. Don't worry.... you'll be up to speed by your 200th posting.
  3. I like it. I've still got my 7.0, 4.0, & Q-2.0 so I'm pretty happy.
  4. "math is hard" Yes, I used GPA data, so there could be plenty of other sales I don't know about. You're right about %increases. I am always thrown off on my calculator because I have to multiply by 170% to get a 70% increase (maybe I'm using my calculator wrong). Your final results were the same as mine, I just rounded the numbers. And you're also right that a price increase was long overdue.... AF15 has been flat for a few years. Ultimately, these are some friggin big numbers. These prices are going to bring scores of Marvel Key issues out of collections and into the market. The market will flood and prices will level off again. I just wonder if we're at the top of this current price surge of if we're in the middle of it.
  5. In this new market I think it might be closer to 7.0 and if you're lucky, a 7.5
  6. Looking at GPA....... very tough to gauge since there are no current sales in the grade. However...... might be able to predict by looking at some current sales from other grades. The last 6.5 went for $72,000 last Sept '20. There are current sales in grades of 4.5 ($42,000) & 3.5 ($28,500) 4.5 was going for $27,600 back in Sept '20 and has increased by 153% to get to $42,000. 3.5 was going for $16,800 back in Sept '20 and has increased by 170% to get to $28,500. So, if we use those percentage increases...... the range in price for a current 6.5 might be $110,000 all the way up to $122,500. To me that seems unbelievably high, but in this new wacky comic market.......
  7. I've always had a dream about being able to get $100k for my pence AF15 7.0. I'm starting to think that's not a dream any more.
  8. Marwood, the last US ASM 1 2.0 went for $6234 (which was a big jump in itself from the previous 2.0 prices). Are you telling me this pence copy went for twice that? And you have other examples from non-GPA auctions? The JIM 83 3.5 that I showed in my chart shows the same sort of result.... JIM 83 - CGC 3.5 '20/'21: US copies (7 sales in '20) averaged $5424 - UK copy (March '21) = $8550 Is that the direction these Pence copies are going to go? If so, I am very excited. I still own the Pence AF15 7.0. I also own a low grade FF 4 pence (and I used to own the 7.5 TOS 39 but let it go ) I've always thought that the "rarity" of these pence copies should compensate for any "stigma" about value. They are simply very hard to find, especially in grade. When Darren Adams took out his full page ad in the Overstreet guide a few years ago specifically looking for Pence Key issues I knew something was up, and then when he PM'd me a couple times trying to buy my AF15 pence, I REEEALLLLY knew something was up. Darren understands the rarity and potential value of the pence copies, and he was trying to scoop them all up before the prices went wacky (which we might be on the cusp of). The dawn of the "respect the Pence copy" might soon be upon us.
  9. It's been a while since I did one of these comparisons. Pence copies of major Marvel keys sell so rarely. Here are the most recent sales comparisons I can find (I'm looking at 2020 or 2021): AF 15 - CGC 4.0 2020: (census = US 3429 graded, UK 64 graded) US copies (4 sales) averaged $21,375 - UK copies (2 sales) averaged $21,000 ASM 1 - (census = US 4152 graded, UK 76 graded) no current UK sales data Avengers 1 - CGC 5.5 2021: (census = US 4436 graded, UK 77 graded) US copy (Feb '21) = $5000 - UK copy (Jan '21) = $3800 FF 1 - (census = US 2515 graded, UK 24 graded) no current UK sales data HULK 1 - (census = US 1844 graded, UK 47 graded) no current UK sales data DD 1 - CGC 7.0 2021: (census = US 4992 graded, UK 63 graded) US copy (Jan '21) = $5050 - UK copy (Jan '21) = $4680 JIM 83 - CGC 3.5 '20/'21: (census = US 2053 graded, UK 27 graded) US copies (7 sales in '20) averaged $5424 - UK copy (March '21) = $8550 ST 110 - CGC 3.5 2020: (census = US 1884 graded, UK 37 graded) US copies (15 sales in '20) averaged $1392 - UK copies (2 sales in '20) = $1097 TOS 39 - (census = US 2353 graded, UK 18 graded) no current UK sales data TTA 27 - CGC 3.5 2020: (census = US 1103 graded, UK 21 graded) no current comparable sales data Xmen 1 - CGC 3.5 2020: (census = US 5170 graded, UK 88 graded) US copy (Oct '20) = $6433 - UK copy (Oct '20) = $4320 Of note.... check out the JIM 83. The Pence copy sold WAY higher than the US copy (although it sold in March of '21 so it's part of the buying frenzie) Also of note..... look at how few graded copies there are of pence copies.... TOS 39 only 18 graded pence!!!
  10. That's insane. Are these prices going to plummet in a few months? Is this wacky growth spurt over or are we going to see prices go up even more.
  11. OMG! What does that make my 7.0 worth? $30,000?
  12. Anyone have a coverless ST 110 they want to sell?
  13. Even if there is a slight decline from these amazing sales, overall I think all values have been pulled up permanently from where they were 2 months ago. I like it as a seller. I hate it as a buyer.
  14. Yes, V for Victory, what was I thinking? I have a few of these O Globos from this era (WWII) and the "pin-up" pictures on the back covers almost always have the characters flashing Victory signs.
  15. Yes, the artwork is better. More detail in the anatomy. The boys name is Roy, I think he is the sidekick of The Wizard.
  16. I'm loving these foreign GA covers. 1942 Cover swipe from World's Finest 7
  17. Another great O Globo issue. This one has SO much going for it. A cover swipe from World's Finest 7, only this one has Superman, BlackHood & (who is this kid again? I can't remember his name.... Stripesy?). They're all flashing peace signs which is also different from the WF cover. And a great Superman pin-up on the back cover.
  18. "I'm sorry my friend, but we're all out of novocaine today. Now, open your mouth.... and say 'Ah' "..... the Dentist said with a wry smile. A high pitched whirring sound began and he leaned in with his drill. His breath seemed hot and I could detect a faint smell of... (brimstone?) on his breath.
  19. Well..... I still love this front cover and maybe I can find an interior at some point. As far as I can tell it's the 3rd cover appearance of Subby
  20. It's tragic when you can't find a matching back cover off another comic. Even Cap 1 has a back cover that can be pulled from Mystic
