  1. Don't ninja edit your multiple spellings! Now my answer looks silly.
  2. I also have fat thumbs, I'm also on an iPad, PLUS I started drinking, AND the mrs is jibber jabbering to me about some nonsense while I'm trying to type. Cherry on top, I typed more words than you. Just admit I'm awesome.
  3. If I can interrupt the unabashed ball washing of HarveySwick for just one second, I think you guys are glossing over some very serious red flags. 1) Harvey used his power as commissioner to acquire players in his fantasy football league in the shadiest way possible. 2) he's a lawyer, and lawyers have no soul. 3) like all lawyers, he has a drinking problem. Always going on about "passing the bar". Get help Harvey, please. 4) he's from boston, and they just had a record amount of snowfall in Boston. Coincidence? 5) one of the sellers 2 ebay accts (nothing shady there) is a reference to the 98 yankees, the greatest team of all time. And Yankee fans are above reproach. 6) he talks on the phone while driving. I think ottobord should continue to fight the good fight, and not allow himself to get steam rolled by the obvious favoritism being displayed by the board.
  4. What's a "deadbeat" ? Is it a non-paying buyer? Please link to listing, thanks.
  5. That`s what I do I debate stuff that interests me. This seemed like a good one. Much more fun than me pontificating about IRAQ and Brian Williams in the water cooler again. But we miss you down there.
  6. -slym I like this one, too. For multiple reasons.
  7. I'm sorry I am not seeing it. Looking at comic trend.com the only big money for 181 has been with 9.8 and over the past ten years you saw a peak in 09 and then a precipitous fall since to well below 03 levels. Yeah you can argue that 8,8.5 and 9 are doing ok but for what you have to pay for a raw book it's not worth it. I am looking at eBay right now and there is a raw 8 ending in 15 hours already over $1000 and climbing. That is just eating into your profit margins. The philosophy of investing in big key issues for the ordinary joe collector is plain stupid. Sorry guys. They are already too expensive to get a decent copy and in the case of 181 it will never gain the value you need to offset the purchase price. I don't care if you wait a 100 years to sell. The book is over rated and that is already reflected in price fluctuations that are scary at best. Real keys which hardly any of us can afford don't fluctuate like that. That's why buying small and smart like I said in an earlier post is the best way. Plus it's more fun. Cheers, Howard PS let the cat calling begin.
  8. Correct AND the new brand X grading company revealed their lack of integrity with that X-men 9.4 (we now know they are comparable to that 3rd other brand X grading company that slabs their own books) thank god for CGC !! Uh, no. Noobs https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=24083835 Well you got me there with that one ,so... are you calling me out for defending CGC on their chatboards??? Not at all, but that´s not the point. People, myself included, called you out for writing incorrect information. Adding the pitch fork tone to it, just made you an easy target. You got off easy considering this is CG. There are a few dozen boardies biting their hands as we speak, trying to control themselves as to not write anything else. It could go either way. If this was Friday and if the right circumstance arose, this would become a great entertainment thread with lots of strikes, poofed posts and ultimately lots of memes + a lock.
  9. Same here! Mike was a great guy, very sad that he passed away so young. George Perez lived in the neighborhood and was friends with the owner, and was in the store often. Got him to sign my Infinity Gauntlet #1 there. Btw, I still have a bag from Mike's. I never got a chance to be there when George was. It was quite a ways from my house, so, only got there on my way home from school. Wish I still had one of those bags. There was another version that was also done by Perez. There is a Facebook page dedicated to Mike's Comic Hut. George posted a few times on there. https://www.facebook.com/groups/83701524860/ Here are couple others that George did for the Mike. Great stuff! For some reason, the 2 things I remember most about his store was the amazing wall books, and that wonderful smell of old paper. Pre-internet, being able to see silver age keys like FF #1 up close and personal was a rare thing for me. My ten year old self was in heaven. My main stores after Mike's closed down was Reeni's (spelling?) in Bay Terrace shopping center, and Chameleon Comics in Flushing. Chameleon is still around, they moved to downtown Manhattan near the WTC.
  10. I never went that far out to the island back in the day. The closest would be Best Comics International back when they were on Northern Blvd. in the Manhassett area. Still go to their current location today, the owner Tommy is a nice guy, and always does right by me. Sets aside PCH for my girl because he knows she enjoys it. Great place to buy statues, too.

  12. The only people still playing in my alliance is me (on my phone), me (on my iPad), and my wifey. You guys got room for 3 more?
  13. Too bad you missed the 80s. In high school, I saw enough "painted on" jeans to last me a lifetime. Some of them are still burned into my brain In the 80's, I was playing Adventure on my 2600 and hitting my brother with Randy Savage flying elbow drops. By the time I noticed women, they were wearing baggy pants and hypercolor shirts.
