  1. I think if I take a few pics in Chicago this year and put them in my con report, we can really open up a discussion about it. Hopefully you won't chicken out like last year. You know what happened last year. I just don't announce everything on these boards. I'm often amazed and befuddled the amount of highly personal stuff that some people post on the internet. Just don't get it That was my point with deleting.I made that post late last night, didnt mean to say this thread should be deleted....meant to say the Chip Go Fund Me thread should be deleted, for Chip's sake. Of course his name is still plasteted over the internet elsewhere but those other threads are several years old. In any event, my job advice was solid. Construction, as an entry level laborer ( no exp needed) takes the cake over a McDonald's or Walmart job. His own feelings of self worth will NOT be positively effected by slinging fries at Mc D's or stocking shelves st Walmart. A manual labor job, will require a lot of hard work on his part, which will help him mentally in terms of self respect. The job I linked to offered benefits, as well.Any job in construction, starting out as a laborer has room for advancement to a crew foreman, if you pick the trade up and work hard...expect to put in 1-3 years of a laborer before becoming a crew foreman. There is also comradery with the guys you work with while you're busting your a** , under the sun in the summer...and in the cold of the winter months... .......you don't get any of that when you take a job where you're stocking shelves in a soul crushing Walmart warehouse or asking a 15 year old kid if he wants to super size his value meal for an additional 99 cents. As far as the comment by another boardie about deletingChip's posting history on here as "hiding" the facts from a potential employer....I'd say that his posts here are really just embarrassing, and if he truly wants to get his life together, and is eager to work instead of asking others for money, you should not have issue with his taking steps in that direction. There are a million other reasons why he shouldn't have his life spilling out over a public forum, as well. And based on the completely inaccurate and asinine things you continue to post here, I wouldn't hire you to fluff the most syphilitic on the set of a porn shoot. 1-3 years to go from no experience to foreman of a crew? Is that how you ended up building a fire pit the size of Rhode Island? Haha...pray tell, what is your work background? How many years of experience do you have working construction? Do you have any certs? I've got 20 years in & have ran 2-6 man crews for almost 18 years. ICPI & NCMA certified installer. ...oh and yeah, I have a job. But thanks Sure. I'm a 10 year member of the Discrict Council of Carpenters, local 608, then local 157, I've got certs in Sheetrock, stick framing, metal framing, welding, track work, rigging, tile, concrete forms, fire stop, scaffolding, aerial lift, hardware, and suspended ceilings. I'm also a shop steward, OSHA certified, have a CPR card from AHA, trained in first aid, certified to use powder actuated guns, and I've seen the Excorcist about 167 times, and it keeps getting funnier every single time I've seen it. Now what do you think? You think I'm qualified? And while we're waving our at each other, let's have an understanding, shall we? I respect landscapers. A great one can do magical things to open space, transforming it into something truly beautiful. But don't call it construction. It's landscaping. There's a difference between placing some pavers in Mrs. McGillicuddy's backyard, and building a house, or in my case, a skyscraper.

It'll be hard work, but he will learn a skill. He might feel better physically as well, which usually also positively affects your mental state. It's not the worst idea in the world. My main concerns would be that chip looks to be in his 40's, and jumping into a physically strenuous job like that could be problematic at that age if he's been living a sedentary lifestyle. The last thing the guy needs is a slipped disc or torn up shoulder. The other concern would be the up and down nature of construction. I don't know how much work is available in his area.

  5. You will stand a good chance to lose visitation speaking like this. Smarten up Cataldo. Right. Those comments should be deleted, as should this thread in its' entirety. What happens if Chip goes to apply for a job and his prospective employer decides to google his name +town/state? The prospective employer sees this thread and within 10 seconds, Chip looks like a less than desirable employee. Here you have it, Chip: Apply to this job listing/company for the Laborer position.Expect to make around $15/hr, to start. http://myrtlebeach.craigslist.org/lab/5614822845.html The construction trade is one of the few areas where you can make a decent living in this country without a college degree. If you don't get hired, or while you're waiting to be hired, apply to one of the landscaping laborer jobs on this same page. I saw 3 landscape laborer job postings without even scrolling down the page. If you want to work, you can get started on Monday. I will tell you that I have worked in all phases of construction, for the past 20+ years of my life and at 40, while it has taken a toll on my back,I can tell you that you can make a good living doing honest work. To reinterate, send a PM to Arch and request that this entire thread, and any reference to your full name on this forum, be deleted. If you want to get your life back, this is how you do it.Getting emo over a comic book forum is not how you will gain control of your life. Good luck to you. By any chance, is your father's name Steve Bowie? And does he hold about 70 awards and recognitions, most impressive of which is National Safety Council: Top Instructor? Bobo?
  6. Ohh, that's nice. I predict big things in the future for that artist.
  7. Whelp I was wrong. Apparently he is the new Teflon Man, free to do as he likes. I blame fatherless mods and a materialistic nation of wimps. I've already begun to plant my survival seeds in preparation of the inevitable gubbamint takeover. Obeezy's black helicopters have arrived! Operation Northwoods! Magic Bullet! Where are the Fathers?! The Fathers!?!?!
  8. If only that is how it always worked. I know I'm not the only one who was more sympathetic knowing he has a kid. Honestly, knowing he has a kid and still went on with that "woe is me" claptrap just made me more frustrated with him. We've put off starting a family for the last 2 plus years while I left a pretty lucrative career and went to back to school to do something different. And believe me, it's been a struggle. We're making ends meet, but there's not much left after the bills are paid. I've been pulling 12-18 hour days between school, work, and clinical rotations at the hospital, and I've loved almost every minute of it. Because I know it's leading somewhere good. Chip seems to focus on what he doesn't have, but I see that picture of his beautiful kid, and frankly, I envy him. Sometimes you have to take stock in what you have and go from there, and everything else will fall into place if you work for it.
  9. I still have many pages of this thread to read yet, but I wanted to pause and recognize the use of a word I have never seen or heard of before. I thought it might be BS, so I googled it, nope, it's a real word. Nicely done And here I thought Gulliver's Travels was one of those classic books that was required reading in all schools, like Catcher in the Rye or the novelization of The Karate Kid. It is still read as far as I know. The lack of recognition by most is probably due to the fact that most people would just use 'large' or 'giant' unless they have a contextual reason otherwise. Odd that 'Lilliputian' is more commonly remembered though. Yeah, I'm only having a bit of fun. It's not exactly a common word in today's vernacular. And it's understandable that Lilliputian is more well known. The Beatles were Lilliputians, after all.

  11. I love your way with words. Me too Hey, I used Brobdingnagian in a sentence, too. That's gotta count for something. I usually only get to use that word when I drop trou. I was going to give you a for that, but decided it deserved a plaque instead... I think I'm going to have to put that in my sig line.
  12. Pretty sure it was Roy who told him not to make selling comics his bread and butter in a thread ages ago. I must've missed that. But then why keep sending him more books to sell? Something about a Dog in the Monkey house reaching the third moon of Capricorn over the Masonic Temple in Jonestown....made him do it.

  16. Roy, I get that you have a soft spot for the guy, but I think posts like this are part of the problem. I don't know Chip personally, but I suspect in private conversation he comes off like a decent fellow. And because of that, he probably doesn't have the luxury of having someone in his life that cares enough to call him out on his wildly_fanciful_statement. Personally, while I don't have an ax to grind with Chip, I find the stuff he posts here pretty deplorable. Admitting to taking advantage of people to make an extra buck, blaming genetics for his lack of motivation, chalking up his Brobdingnagian financial debt to bad luck or poor circumstance... It's just mess, man. Pure, unbridled, corn-riddled mess. To come here and ask for help, when it seems like he's made zero effort to help himself, is pretty dirty. To ask for $12k more than he actually needs, without letting anyone know the reasons why, is borderline fraud. Go look at those links I posted, and you'll find a few posts like yours. "Let's hear him out guys." "There's two sides to every story." "You guys are being cruel." Yuck. Years later, and here we are again. You want to help Chip out? Don't keep handing him money with one hand while you cup his balls in the other. Give him the knowledge he needs to improve his life. Maybe help him find a continuing education program or a trade school so he can learn some marketable skills. Maybe take him under your wing and teach him some trade secrets on how to become a BSD comic dealer, if that's what he really wants to do. But please, let's stop making Chip out to be a victim here. He does a fine job of that without any help.
  17. took me a couple read throughs, but I think I get it. Good luck on that, I've just gotten word that another Disney-related project will be shooting in my area somewhat soon, I'm gonna try and be an extra... Speaking of Punisher awesomeness, you missed out on a sweet 4 star Frank in MPQ. Where have you been? The alliance needs its heavy hitter. sorry, life and health has gotten in the way...and some how I accidentally deleted the game, then took it as a sign that I was spending too much time playing. Also, I started watching Hannibal...if anyone hasn't seen it, they should watch it. It really makes you question yourself and what you 'root for' when you watch tv. Hope everything is ok. I know how you feel, I barely have time for anything fun these days. I have a backlog of shows and movies to watch, a full DVR, and tons of fun games collecting dust in my house. If not for the fact that I can play games on my phone while I take my morning dumperoo, I probably would have deleted MPQ as well.

  19. Apocalypse is like the biblical version of Forrest Gump.
  20. Recently made a purchase from DtheD, book was shipped with lightning speed and was packed well enough to survive an explosion. And his hair smells like cinnamon.
  21. Conversely, if you want people to know it, post it with gusto. That's why my name on all forms of social media is The shot kid.
