  1. Is that just jaded-vet syndrome speaking? So they're bad suggestions year after year, or maybe there's some merit to them, hence they keep coming up again and again? Sounds like the same complaints are cycling through, so... And this is the same response, year after year... Oy, it's like Groundhog Day meets No Exit!! As I read this, I imagine Speedy to be Sgt. Barnes from Platoon, face covered with scars, stumbling drunk into the barracks after overhearing the grunts talking about changing things. "You boys talkin' bout rules? What do you know about rules?!" More like Gomer Pyle. I've heard Speedy DOES have a lovely singing voice.
  2. I'm sure it's been asked and answered dozens of times before, but why don't HOS members get insta-banned? Seems like most of the Hall members got there for (basically) stealing $ from other boardies. Wouldn't it benefit the boards to completely wipe our collective hands of people like that?
  3. Why not just post in the sales thread that the seller in on the HOS/PL? Pretty sure this is what the mods mean by us policing ourselves. Threadcrapping Which is kinda silly, since we're supposed to be policing the sales threads ourselves. At least, that's my understanding.
  4. That's too bad. How about like you suggested - a small group PM chain and a united effort to work something out? A little "committee" if you will? What exactly is the problem you're trying to solve? Your answer is five posts up. Speedy pins Harvey against the wall, holding a knife to his face "Don't do it Barnes! Ten years you been enlisted. Ten years you climbed those walls, man!" I can do Platoon quotes all day...

  6. It is okay. In Japan they call Resident Evil series Biohazard and Street Fighter in Japan names: M. Bison in Japan is named Vega. Vega in Japan is named Balrog Balrog in Japan is named Mike Bison aka M. Bison Also, Megaman is called Rockman in Japan, Super Mario Bros 2 was really a game called Doki Doki Panic that didn't have anything to do with Mario, and a telekinetic child named Akira was responsible for starting WW3!!
  7. Wynona loved her big brown beaver and She stroked him all the time. She pricked her finger one day and it Occurred to her she might have a porcupine.
  8. I would send one in to Vault to get graded, so we can get an idea of the stink scale they use.
  9. Exactly, and why would anyone want to keep old systems, controller, peripherals, et al, all up and running, when with BC you can just load any game you want. I find it incredibly bothersome to have to keep boxes and boxes of controllers and other just to finish up some games, when I didn't have to with the Wii, Xbox 360, PS3 or PS2. That's the great thing about PC gaming or buying through STEAM, you can play games you bought decades ago on your brand new system. I wish I was more PC savvy. The mods alone are worth it. People are still creating mods for games that came out a decade ago, like Morrowind.
  10. Which brings up another reason I always wait to get a new system. The launch games tend to suck. That, or they were made cross-platform, and what you're really getting is a ps3/360 game with slightly better graphics. If I drop $500 on a shiny new next gen system, and the first thing I do is download Pitfall for $5, I'm doing something wrong.
  11. No, there will never be backwards compatibility with PS3 or PS2 games, and what you're referring to is the online server-based gaming Gaikai system that Sony bought. This is a cloud-based system where access is granted on a monthly subscription basis to stream a *very limited* number of "the most popular" classic titles. That's not backwards compatibility, and is very similar to retro browser-based games that run off a central server. After reading what I wrote, I think I may have worded that incorrectly. But you're right. It's not backwards compatibility but only a solution for the backwards compatibility problem. No it isn't, it's just Sony's way to make money by double-dipping into the wallets of nostalgic gamers. It's no different than their PS2 Classics (what % of PS2 games are available?) line on PSN, other than it being cloud-based. First off, Sony has stated that there will only be a limited number of games available, with only a few at launch, so lots of PS3 and PS2 games will never be available (like all the superhero ones and other licenses) and the PSN/indie/IOS-level stuff will far outnumber the retail disc games. Secondly, you will have to pay a monthly subscription for this, and Sony will double-dip and certainly not allow disc-game owners to play for free. Now, this might be worth it for some people (Sony retail games will probably be there - GoW, Infamous, LBP, etc.), depending on the launch library of *other* game publishers, but it's certainly not a solution to the current BC woes, and only Sony would try to spin it like that. I've never understood the need for backwards compatability. I have a "fat" PS3 and never played my PS2 games on it. I would think if you are worried about playing your discs then just put them in your PS3. really? Why would I want to have my PS, PS2, clunky PS3 and PS4 all laying around when I could just have 1 system? I hate clutter! These are video games. Not used kleenex. Sometimes I want to play old ones again... or really loved a game I'd like to just pick it up and go at it for a bit. Im surprised something like this escapes some people. I say this with zero statistical back-up, but I think you're in the minority on backwards capability. Sure, every now and then I get a wild hair up my and wish I can play an older game, but for the most part, once I beat a game, beat the dlc, and get as many achievements/trophies I can, I'm usually done with the game. It's a nice option to have, but if I can get a slimmed down system for $100 cheaper, I can get by without backwards capability. Besides, there always seems to be at least one can't miss game coming out by the time I'm bored with my game library.
  12. The Xbox 360 and PS3 were actually the first generation of home consoles that I don't feel any particular need to upgrade, especially with all the juicy deals on PS Plus. They are "good enough" for me, and while I will upgrade in a year or two (when the next Elder Scrolls or Borderlands game pops up), with no support for PS3 or Xbox 360 games on the new systems, there's certainly no reason to hurry. I can remember with the PS3, when they announced that BC was going away, searching madly for a MGS4 SE. Now, who cares when you buy? And damn, are there some great free (and almost free) games on PS Plus - I'm on some gaming forums and laugh when the PS4 newbs continually ask "how can I play the free Borderlands 2/DMC/Dragon's Dogma/XCOM/Bioshock Infinite/etc." on my PS4? That's exactly what I'm waiting for. Well, that, and the inevitable bricked consoles. A buddy of mine already had to have a replacement ps4 sent to him.
  13. They're the names of different types of shelving units, all sold by ikea.
  14. Sweet, thanks man! The Pax cabinets are exactly what I'm looking for. I'm curious, are there glass doors on the besta cabinets pictured? The main reason I passed on the besta, the only glass doors they sold had a thick wood border that I felt obscured too much of the display case. I'd prefer to have a display case with glass doors, it makes a big difference come dusting day. I love my little statue collection, except on dusting day. Then I curse the day I ever bought them, and contemplate sticking them back in their boxes.
  15. This guy has a room dedicated to statues of that scale...in addition to the rest of his "normal sized" collection. Check out that Galactus you were asking about being dwarfed in the corner of the room: Wow! Those are HUGE!!! I have the Sideshow Great Ultron statue. It's pretty damn big and dwarfs my Bowens, even the big ones like Giant Man. As much as I LOVE Ultron, I almost regret buying it because its a pita to display. That Ultron isn't even half the size of this Doom one!!! I just can't buy statues that are the same size as my 11 1/2 year old!!! One thing I keep forgetting is that I don't have a comic collection or collect anything else really, so as big as these things are, I can find the space. That being said, 1/2 scale is too much for me, both in terms of price and space. 1/4 scale (like your Ultron) is about perfect for me, because you get the detail and presence for a lot less real estate and a lot less dough. COI, how do you display your Sideshows? Detolfs seem wasteful, as you have to take the middle shelf out to accommodate the size. Do you use shelves? Or a different display case? One of the reasons I haven't dipped my toes into the Sideshow pool yet is because space in my neck of the woods is expensive. I'm trying to find a nice display case that can fit larger statues without getting something custom made.
  16. Don't mind me. I just want to be here when this thread rolls over the 1000 page mark.
  17. If that Shakespearean Tragedy series of comments went over people's heads this one's in orbit. -slym Home Movies Well played sir.
  18. Sorry, but I find it very hard to believe that buyers of CGC 9.8 and 9.9 copies, at current prices, are buying them as "pure fans". Dont forget cgc 10.0's.....I <3 them...you might be rite with some or most....but not All. Maybe you have lost sight to what collecting really means to some. To long in the game of spec.maybe? Or if you posted most of your 30,000 post in CG that might be it.. OHHH ITS ON NOW!!
  19. I love that black costume Andrew, is that yours? Not a fan of the bronze, just a personal thing. I have been buying Hot Toys and Sideshow 1/6 figures (or dolls if you like ) The detail and quality is amazing but i do want to try get more statues now. Every time I see a Hot Toys display, I get jealous. I guess they're technically action figures, but the level of detail on them is ridiculous.
  20. I'm curious, if WD #1's price is inflated by interest in the tv show and flippers, what happens when the bloom is off the rose, the flippers move away from the series, and a good chunk of the WD #1 copies out there find a semi-permanent home in the long boxes of collectors? Will reduced availability drive the price back up? Will less demand drive the price down? Or will those two factors combine to form a rift in space/time that will destroy all reality as we know it?
  21. You either find it funny, or you don't. I find it funny. I'm with you, I find cancer and those suffering through it absolutely hysterical. You tell 'em "serial killer avatar guy" .... Christian Bale is a serial killer?!?!
