  1. I wonder if CGC will ever change the label to note this as their 1st app together.
  2. I remember cutting school in the early 90s and heading down to Big Apple comics around 96th st in Manhattan. One memory that stands out is waiting in a packed store for them to hand out Robin #1 - they were going to put it on the shelves and then decided to just pass around the stacks right out of the box
  3. Found an auction up for a 2nd print newsstand...this is the first without a buyitnow so should be interesting. I wonder if it's a boardie and if it's one of the 10 known copies or an 11th. https://www.ebay.com/itm/302194508014 UPDATE: Seems like it is indeed one of the 10 known copies and not an 11th - the seller's copy is featured in this 2015 article; http://comicbookinvest.com/2015/07/15/the-six-variants-of-batman-457/
  4. I agree, sounds like Marvel's variant market is about to get flooded.
  5. Close the thread, we have a winner.
  6. I immediately knew what you were talking about but I had to do some serious googling to find it. Biggest shock was to learn the Power Lords toy line also had a comic! How can he be 'The' Power Lord f there are other Power Lords? The Lords work in mysterious ways...
  7. With all due respect to the positive aspects of the movement, that was brilliant.
  8. That was Dec 2010. August 2014 it sold for $4800. Which IMHO is still a bargain. +1 You are most probably right since I saw it on Metro's Most Wanted List from one of their Monthly Newsletters, as being wanted in all grades. Besides the usual big superhero keys which everybody should already know, the only other books on this list which I saw were Master Comics 27, Pep 22, Torch 12, Bill Barnes 7, Smash #1, any issue of Joker Comics, and Fishler's favorite of course, namely Fantastic 3. Ace 11 is definitely a tough tough book to find and one that will always sell for multiples to guide. The VF guide price for those 2 sales were only around $500+ in 2010 and $800+ in 2014. Since the current VF guide price is now only at $1446, it will definitely continue to sell at big multiples to condition guide when available. Interesting to note that the Church copy of this particular issue was only graded as a Fine copy by Chuck. So, this 7.5 copy might just be the best existing copy of this very hard to find key issue. Found one, wish I could click that buy it now. https://www.ebay.com/itm/222371979032
  9. Missed NYCC last year but I'll definitely be catching this con.
  10. I immediately knew what you were talking about but I had to do some serious googling to find it. Biggest shock was to learn the Power Lords toy line also had a comic!
  11. Found the info on the 7.5 over at Heritage. Seems like a steal at that price.
  12. Love that you were able to finally track a copy down.
  13. My rarest - a true Ultra Rare with only 10 known copies; Batman #457 2nd print Newsstand.
  14. Well this is CGC's forum, if not here then where? Personally I love when odd things like this come up, just makes the hobby more interesting. Right. Just meant most other news outlets don't care about all that minutiae. It's first time Harry Potter is making an official appearance on a comic book ergo first appearance/comic debut. It's only here where you get heated debates about whether it should be labeled a cameo, 1st app, etc. Mind, labeling it a pin-up is probably the fairest and most accurate. Granted, I reckon majority of HP fans probably aren't even aware that you can slab comic books. The key word here is OFFICIAL appearance. Harry has other comic appearances. I see nothing in any definition of debut or first appearance that states the author of a book character adapted into comic form needs to be authorized. Go with Mystic 15. I could be wrong here, but I don't think he has ever been named. Not now, not before.
  15. Ouch, someone paid $30 based on this nonsense... "Love is Love is a Very Limited First Print Run. I have been told there was a printing error and all first print comics which this is say second print, because I purchased this the day it was released it is first print though it says second. I am currently getting an email from the comic shop proving this and will post it. This is the First appearance of Harry Potter in a Comic Book. This is sure to go up in Value. Rare Book, Purchase before it really gets pricey. I ship within one to two days New off the comic book shelf condition in protective plastic cover. Great for any serious HP collector. Good luck No refunds Tracking will be provided. Free shipping" https://www.ebay.com/itm/272502765606

Heck I'm still surprised by how many comic books fans I know that have no idea about slabs.
  17. The pump wasn't really because of this board. That was due to widespread media coverage. People just took advantage of a quick flip. The PUMP and DUMP is people saying and trying to make this Harry Potter's "1st appearance"......because really, it's just a pin-up. Honestly, this is the only place I've seen where people are even enquiring how CGC will label the slabs. A lot of fans are probably just buying because JKR endorsed it and the money's going to a good cause. Well this is CGC's forum, if not here then where? 18. Photos of the 1st print (not mine). Anyone have an idea how that sticker will impact the grade?
  19. Probably doesn't count as an authorized use of the character but I'd love to see a photo.
  20. I agree, typically I'd say it'll be the first print but the CGC label is where things will get really interesting. It's possible we end up with the second printing dated in 2016 and the first printing dated in 2017. Something that drastic may settle this debate for collectors.
  21. Ouch. CGC has yet another tough decision to face with this book; Does the date on the label reflect the actual print date or the release date?
  22. It is interesting. I wonder if the CGC labels will read the date of the 2nd print as 12/16 and the date of the 1st print as 1/17.
