Just watched it last night. Like most everyone else, I really liked it. I got to wondering afterwards ... seeing as I haven't really read Spider-man in about 3 decades, I have no idea whether the movie holds true to the comics. I know who Miles Morales is, and I know Gwen is from an alternate universe ... but that's about the extent of my knowledge on those characters. So did the movie follow the comic (whichever that comic is, I don't know)?
There is a spider-verse crossover. It introduced spider-gwen. Nothing at all like the movie, except it was an excuse to have a million different spider people (but it's a fun read IMO)

I thought it was pretty good. But I also felt like it wasn't full throttle, like someone was holding it back all season instead of letting it run full steam.
I also agree with a lot of stuff being telegraphed.
With all those negatives though, I still thought it was good, 2nd half of the show was much better than the 1st.
Although the sub title of the show should be: emo X-Men

I think readers vs collectors is also an interesting question.
With the advent of digital comics, I think readership is nearly impossible to figure out.
I know, I don't plan on buying another physical comic any time soon. At most, I may buy a trade here and there. But it's so nice to just be able to grab my tablet and read exactly what I want.

I had found some info out about my requests and he got right back to me about my questions / comments. He also re-iterated to me that he's got a ton of requests but would confirm once he pulled my orders.
So, worry not, this happens every year, it takes a while.

All 10 episodes available now.
The pilot episode starts off a little slow. But then kicks in with quite the wild intro to the characters and their powers.
Watched the 1st episode last night, it was a big lul in the middle, like they didn't know how to move the story forward and did stuff that took up time.

my 1/18 moderns were at graded wednesday, QC yesterday, and today back to graded and now at QC again. I guess that is a good thing.
My value from 12/05 hit graded today as well though so that is good. Only 3 books though, Doc 169, Planet 50 and IH 180.
I've been sitting at Grading / QC for 2 days. And i've been billed already, I was hoping 2 days slower so it would hit next month's Amex.
So much for that.

I mean, I like that cover. But i'm not willing to spend $120 to get it. Between his and JSC's prices, I just feel like these artists are growing more out of touch with the fans. Sure, the books sell out, but it's increasingly feeling like something specific for high end collectors.
It's expensive, but not quite that bad. $60 for a set of 2, so $30 each.

I'm pretty sure that FedEx drives have been given stealth suits.
My last CGC delivery a package magically showed up at my front door. My Ring Doorbell never saw them, they didn't ring the bell for a sig (someone was home). Checked the site and it was just a diagonal line as a signature across the pad.
Next week i should have another delivery, wonder what we'll see.

The entire issue/PayPal rant comes down to one thing only: if you (as a business) want the liquidity that credit cards and lines offer your customers. More spending power = more/higher sales (hopefully). Remove that and we're back to cash 'n carry or HA, CLink et al (with their own drag in the form of seller's fees) etc as ways to sell. PayPal isn't the enemy here, it's the lenders...in the sense that they will side with their customer (and yours) over you...that's the nature of the contractual relationship they have with them (and not you). PayPal is just the pass-through of all this, taking a tiny slice for doing so but no risk...which I don't think is particularly wrong.
Don't want to play in the lenders sandbox...don't pay with credit or sell to buyers using credit. All good. But if a tipping point backwards is reached...watch this stuff all return to those nasty "pre" days of the 1990s and a zero (or two) drop off a lot of values...and expect the Houses to increase their fees too, seeing as they will now have a monopoly on clearing business for all non-cash value in the hobby exceeding what anybody is willing to lose sending cash, check, money order through the mail and getting...sometimes nothing in return!
Just some thoughts...
I don't remember where I read it, but if my memory serves it was one of those eBay (and paypal as an extension of the company at that point) 1/4 investor meetings. Something was said to the affect of:
"we will never take an action against a customer that would cause them to no longer buy on ebay".
At the end of the day, eBay believes the sellers will always be there, as long as they have the buyers. I have just accepted that reality, and never sell anything I'm not willing to take a 100% loss on.

Hey guys,
Fair enough! I cannot speak to the validity of his story of how he ‘found’ the art - personally I think we can all guess correctly what actually happened - but it was dealt with privately outside law enforcement or any PayPal intervention. No ransom or anything nefarious - just a claim joined with a story that he now had the art and would like to send it back. He reached out to me.
I can only guess as to if it was a) his story was true b) the pressure via social media inhibiting any chance to continue to be involved in the community, c) the understanding that the art would never ever be able to sold - or d) just a crisis of conscience
There was ultimately no admission of guilt, but just desire to move forward and try to undo what was done.
I will tell you that the entertainment value on the story was quite high, however.
I am pretty exhausted with the ordeal at this point - so I’m not sure where it will lead - but I do know it’s a great testimony that this community are junk-yard dogs when they are wronged!
Is that enough? Or is there more detail required?
Thanks again everyone.
I get putting it all behind you and the exhaustion of a battle like this.
But I think removing his name and handles (from Instagram and eBay) are really giving him a free pass.
But in general, there's a lesson here that we really should vet the people we sell to, I know I've sent art all over the world to people I've never heard of (or heard from again).

Glad this is ending with the right result!
I'm sure it was under a stack of prints and he didn't realize.

Ok final thought 😁
I agree that what your saying makes sense for something like an auto inspection or a home inspection where the potential buyer has the item inspected prior to buying. But I've never heard of anyone buying a house and then having it inspected and returning it.
Of course now someone will cite an example where this has happened 😂 but I still stand by never hearing of it
For what it's worth this exact thing happened to me. I was in the process of buying a home. In the inspection process found out the siding was not stucco, but manufactured stucco (eifs), and there was undisclosed leaks that caused the frame of the house to be damaged. Requested money to replace the siding and the damage, seller refused to give me the money I "returned" the house.

Finished it last night.
DD3 and Punisher 2 were the 2 best complete seasons. With something happening that mattered throughout. But I agree with others that season 1 had higher high spots.
SpoilerI liked how they did the A and B story happening at the same time, vs most of the series had big bad #1 for half the season, then big bad #2 pops up.
This raised the tension a lot by having threats coming from 2 directions at once.

Discovered Jenny Frison's work, and discovered I needed one of her Wonder Woman covers (to #54). No nostalgia needed, I've never read WW Rebirth. I just love the art. I like that it's different than pencil and ink. Seems more "complete" even though the digitally finished piece is quite stunning also. I am really pulled toward how strong and powerful Frison depicts women. Not overtly sexual. Seems more natural, in a way. Very beautiful in hand. Can't wait to get it framed up and on the wall.
Wow, this is an impressive cover

The point is that the artist has worked a lifetime, and should be credited with that experience when considering the "how long" question.
It's a bit of an affront to the artist to suggest a work in question could be reduced to an hourly calculation, since the questioner likely couldn't do it ever, even if they tried.
So, when the client is told the actual #, it can have a real multiplier effect, like, "Wow, you can do something in just a few hours that I will never be able to do."
And then you can move on to the next topic, since the hourly calculation is exposed as a bit of a fraudulent approach to valuation in art. David
I think this is so flawed.
Artists are not unique. A Lawyer, Doctor, Scientist, heck any specialized professional that's spent years and years honing their skills has the same ability, yet is expected to also deliver on an hourly rate.

Have you called them? that usually is a better conduit than their online forms when it's not a simple situation.

It showed up on Netflix this week.
It wasn't bad. It wasn't good. It was... meh.
No big twists, no great plot, the best parts of the movie were the secondary characters. The dad from Fresh off the Boat and Michael Pena were the best parts of the movie.

The post saying the erroneous statement that I am now going with Heritage Auctions was not by me. A gentleman was trying to make some point and tickle funny posts I gather. We do need more humor in these troubled times. I hold Heritage in the highest of esteem but my collection is not with Heritage but temporarily now squirreled in my bank and I have developed other interests besides art collecting and moving on. Thanks!
Yes, I thought it was obvious it was a joke. Sorry for the confusion. I'll edit to make sure it gets by no one

I just checked my magic 8 ball and this is what came up:
QuoteBeginning with 2020 Heritage winter auction, we're excited to announce we will be offering the famous Craig Yoe collection.
Featured in gallery shows and now offered throughout the whole year, this is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to own part of this historic collection.

The ask on Lotus is $6. The offer was 1/3rd that. Who ever in the history of the world, that doesn't need to money for dire circumstances, ever leapt at 1/3rd ask? Seriously. Show me that guy, and receipts too please
That's the proposition being tossed around, that just 1/3rd ask would be taking advantage of the dummy offering it. Based on...? Nothing. Of course.
Not to mention holding on to Lotus, keeping the ask at 6.5, inflates the prices of all his other holdings.
Keep the best with a crazy high price, step down the ladder to other cards keep their inflated prices and they will now seem "cheap" compared to lotus.
This isn't someone who's holding 1 piece of art, and has any need of money at the moment.
