WOW to those two Vision books on the bottom Congrats!
Thanks! You KNOW I LOVE those two! Actually though, the Ant man one might be my fave, it's insane in hand! The top right one is pretty amazing also since the entire back cover is also sketched. I should have flipped it and took another pic to show it off since the back is pretty freaking awesome!
Congrats on being the Boards #3 Vision fan.
Fixed that for you Sean, since I'm assuming you're #2

These are just a few of my babies

BTW those Vision cover sketches are unbelievably awesome!!

I take it books with limited edition run numbering (i.e. 1 / 100) written on the cover would fall into Cat #5 since it is not really a defect but some marker noting run number on the cover.
I would think a 9.8 Green would be valued at the same level as a 9.8 Blue would since it would be impossible to ever get a blue label with one of these books... right?
As is the case in this other thread...

I think it was around FN. I like readers in the G - FN range. So I called it a "reader" because that's what I would have done with it, but it was a fairly pretty copy really and one anybody could be pleased with.
Bronty I would love to see your "reader" collection - prob puts my main collection to shame (thumbs u

Wow nice selection. Issue #70 is a personal favorite of mine as its one of the first pre-hero books I bought as a kid.
I agree... just love that cover
And the TOS 20 is in my top PH covers as well... could be the great cover and the fact that it eluded me for so long. This one is actually an upgrade from my FN- copy so I hope their FN+ grade evaluation is accurate.
-
Those HA books were very decent copies. I picked up the TTA 25 and the TOS 16.
Bronty, that ST 89 reader copy went for 507 big ones. Congrats to HaydenTO, nice batch.
Thanks Rick. I can't wait to get them in my hands.

Did not do too bad on tonight's HA low-mid grade PH auctions... came away with around half of them (some were upgrades and others I just took shots at snagging good deals). Thank goodness most of you go for the bigger fish and not these relative minnows
But I am quite happy non the less... best part is I scored all the hole filler books I was after
getting closer to getting these sets completed (only 2 books each away from TTA and TOS sets).
JIM and ST sets are another story ugh
Anyway here are some of the books from tonight:

I figured I'd go old and bald(er) before seeing a nicer copy of this book actually available. Only three better copies on the census (all 9.0) and I'm sure they are closely guarded. Its always been my #1 prehero although since collecting these more seriously its starting to have competition from two or three other books as the top dawg in my eyes.
Anyways. After paying what I would generally consider an offensive amount for an 8.5 of any prehero book, I am proud to present strange tales 89
WOW

So the clink auction wasn't a total loss, I got to overpay for this lil' gem!
As usual... WOW
-
Sure, Clink shares part of the blame with its huge monthly auctions, but where were the VF range buyers for this auction? TTA #12 8.0 doesn't even crack $300 or TOS #13 8.5 gets only $375?!?! Sickening prices. TTA #18 8.5 the single best top census and it makes only $600? And yes, these and more were my books and I'm not happy about it.
I feel for ya Rich, that really sucks. While I congratulate all the winners on some great deals, it is painful seeing such awesome books go for far below FMV. I have to empathize with the sellers here, while rejoicing with the winners.
As Bronty said, I too think this is a one-off event. I would have normally been in there helping to push some of these bids up but I only watched many of these as they were not current holes in my sets (upgrades of course but not holes), my focus was on some other books like those sweet Weird Fantasy's, and very tight budget right now after picking up a big win recently from CC.
I am not so sure about auction fatigue as even though they may get tiring at times, if I have that hole that needs filling I will typically go for what I need regardless. I think the multi-copies and presence of those high grade copies took the focus away from these books. If those HG books were not there things would have looked a lot differently I am sure.

here it is
Beautiful just beautiful.
One of my fav PH books of them all!!
Congratz

I know what you mean Bronty... the higher grade stuff was soooo hot I could not get near them
But I was surprised to get this nice upgrade for myself for only $165

" I DONT ship outside the united states. "
He must have his listings blocked to non US bidders because they do NOT show up in my searches. Awesome.
Hey Bronty, they showed up in my searches - very nice books indeed even if he did not ship to Canada.
-
Just love this cover... especially since it is now in my collection
-
Awesome snags... congratz
-
Love the TOS 8 cover - one of my PH favs
-
Have a safe trip back home Mysterio
Caught one more tonight as a slight bump up from my 3.5 raw copy
-
Bronty that is still a sweet win and beautiful book at that.
I had to settle for a couple of lower grade needs
But at least they are 2 more down - almost finished my TOS & TTA runs

$24,100 on the Cap OMG!!!
for a 2.0 with tape ... One of the grails I may never get now
-
Guess its gonna be a while before this book cools off enough to touch
That's for sure. I'm glad now that I bought my two graded 9.6 copies a year ago. Although they are no longer blue labels and are currently on their way back to me as 9.6 Stan Lee Sig Series
-
I got a pair of high grade 9's!
Those are gorgeous!
-
Wow Sacentaur awesome books really really nice pick ups!
And you say these are your first PHs... well done indeed and welcome to the PH club.
