Monstro would like to wish you all a Happy + a safe 4TH of July!!!! He also adds: "If you could lay off the calamari, I'd be cool with that".
Congratz on this recent acquisition - she's a beauty!!

Loving it!!

Thanks to Cheetah, some truly great books have come into my collection. The first is a mega upgrade + best known copy of this book:
Next up is the book that helps complete the entire TTA run for me from #1-101. A super tough book in grade, this copy is rivaled by only a single 9.4. The next best copy to this one is a 7.0!! Incredibly tough to come by in high grade:

Speaking of TOS 11
I just got my CLink win delivered and it looks amazing in person - who couldn't love this cover!
-
WOW great to see a completed pre-hero set like this
I am about a third of the way through my own pre-hero runs of
JIM, ST, TOS & TTA
The hunt for these runs is an exciting but grueling task so I totally respect and appreciate what you have accomplished here!! Awesome Collection

here's my #1 pre slabbing - I've had a few #1's but this one is the first I've had with uber whites and a little higher grade.
Stunning book. Killer spine, gloss, looks like it still has that "wooble" in the pages its so fresh. What does it grade out at?
That is gorgeous!!! I can't wait to find out what it grades.

Great Info - Thanks!

Those ST 87s are both very nice - nice finds!

My original post was meant tongue-in-cheek.
I have no problem with posting the book here and just wanted to encourage posting in the pre-code thread.
My motto is post early and often.
No worries, sometimes it is hard to tell in posts as humor or sarcasm or whatever intended flavor is lost. Whenever I see the I always feel like someone has been slapped...
Yah no problem at all... I did not take offense to the remark. I'm a noob on these forums so I may make those types of errors anyway. No harm done and I know none was intended (thumbs u
BTW i did pop over to the pre-code thread to share the <3

You raked in a great batch of books,Hayden.
I thought the bidding and final prices were brutal for these books. I only bid on needed upgrades of my raw copies. All my bids on the JIM, I needed, were blown away, especially the JIM 71. I realized if I seriously wanted to win anything, I could not be conservative. I just had to have the ST 80. One of my favorite PH covers. Also, got the ST 81,84 TOS 25 and TTA 9,14,18. As I said, brutal prices. But, can't wait to receive them!!!
Thanks Starr, I agree on the brutal prices... I am still walking funny
I got shut out of all 7 Strange Tales that I bid on... Now I know who some of them went to - congratz (thumbs u
I love the ST 80 and 81 covers as well as the TTA 9. I will be thinking of you as you open your package from CLink

Just won this in the May CLink auction... I have been requested to post it in this tread.
Enjoy

That was my WM JIM #20.... it's a killer copy - nice haul of books indeed HTO...
Thanks and thanks again CD...
And congratulations to everyone else who managed to pull out wins on these sweet pre-hero books! Cherish them
-
Incredible haul!
Thanks
My eye starts to twitch when I think of the CLink invoice I have to pay now considering some of the other non pre-hero books that are on it as well.
But i know i will forget all about bills and such when these truly beautiful pieces of art show up at my door... it's scary how much I am falling in love with the whole pre-hero era I wonder how many others feel that same pre-hero allure
... or maybe I just love big monsters on covers
-
Prices were crazy strong on the preheros. No doubt the sheer volume of hg phs lead to some of those nosebleed prices. Glad I'm not starting my sets now or and that's on a good day!!
You are so right Rich... I am still in shock at most of the prices on the ones I lost out to... never mind the ones that by the time i wanted to bid were waaay out of my budget already!! Time to go back to lower grades to fill in the holes of my collection
BTW thanks again for the JIM 62 and 64. I can't wait till they show up
Looks like I managed to snag a 63 after all
-
Yes, that clink auction had some great issues that you won't be seeing for awhile. I am still in shock that a TOS 17 8.5 hit just under 2K. :o
I really wanted to get a hold of the TOS 29 they had. Maybe I can find another copy in three years.
Sorry CD about the TOS 29. I only ended up winning about a third of the pre-hero books I was after... But i will share what I did manage to snag (my wallet is still smoldering though
I'm actually hoping not to see another auction with so many mid-high grade pre-hero like that again for a while... I don't think my OCD can take it!!
-
Yah... at first I thought it may be too busy looking.
But when you step back and look at it for a while, slowly absorbing the flow and subtleties of the piece you really admire what Golden has done.
-
Posting this here as suggested from another "sketch" thread... This started as a Michael Golden sketch commission at Wizard World Toronto this year, and ended up being a magnificent OA piece.
Enjoy "Dr. Strange Summoning The Micronauts"

That Thor is HOT!!
Thanks all... I really love this cover as well (not as great as Silver Surfer #4 - a truly magnificent cover) but it comes close.
I was originally thinking of possibly selling it around this time as the value will most likely drop back down come summer and beyond (post movie)... but I it is just too nice to part with.
