I just don't seem to understand you at all ! Your logic in just about every thread you have made has been so out to lunch,are you a ten year old kid? or are you just that damn dumb? reprint ?....? Over the original really ? Oh maybe because it looks new ? Of course that and reasons aforementioned, and considering that the people doing the comics then did not foresee that the character would become power man by #17. So the edited change in the reprinted cover makes more sense. And there's also the price factor, when ya can get an almost mint reprinted copy at 1/100 of the price of a slabbed 'near mint' (mostly VFs) copy. Those who have unclouded eyes can see for themselves well enough. No need to argue further

Business agenda aside, I respectfully disagree with the conspired view, the reprinted redux cover is more dignified and more timeless in theme as a superhero 1st issue. Power added to powerman like never before. On the merits of visual appeal, I will take the reprint over the original, cheaper or not.

Man, that's horrible and they removed everything that made the original cover special. From a different perspective, the edited removal was in good taste, as the original all too campy cover are filled with old fashioned 1970s sleazy elements, I prefer this one better, a power man logo in place of luke cage would be even more ideal. And this clean looking reprint beats all the old beat up read issues hands down, and pricewise too

Superb and unbelievably quality material. That avengers bk shown much earlier led me to prejudge and belittle these books but having seen this and the SubMariner I could now understand Iscomics's interest in them

Distractors and detractors aside, #227 on why it's a natural winner despite being a homage piece- everything in it is iconic by accidental or else unconsciously guided artistic expression- there's the dark knight element of batman hovering above the scenario; the pulp factor; the NA horror element of the gothic haunted house; the damsel in distress; the villain; the deep fog and mist atmosphere of the mystery detective theme; all piece together its the ultimate detective comics homage cover that was never realized in any detective comics covers, simply because Batman had entered its never before seen realistic phase as the cowled avenging justice of the night. What a masterpiece.

What a beauty. Can imagine if that's in high grade. This one 's more beautiful than the original of the same grade

227 is not just another NA cover. It is the NA Cover, yes, that one, the best one.

Well, where there's a will, there's got to be a way. Wish you all the best in getting whatever you want of these edns, perhaps someday some persons from that country might sell them in large bundles from their long kept but largely forgotten childhood collection suddenly unearthed. Good luck.

Hate to disagree much as I understand where you are coming from, but to most people, the common accepted understanding of variant is always to mean a book that is produced at the same time and from the same publisher, with different cover or geographical pricing. But in the case of these later date Philippines reprints , given that the contents and language are exact to each issue, these reprinted edns could thus well be considered and even classified as an odd form of variant edns, but more importantly, the acceptance of these as such must be collectively agreed among collectors., which I think not everyone will see eye to eye on this

In one word, the greatest and most beautiful batman cover ever, more Dark knight iconic than Dark Knight Returns # 1 and more artsy than batman #400.

One key lesson for us all here, too much hype and over interest on any particular still underexposed issue on these boards will ensure their scarcity or extinction from the still inexpensive raw market in no time at all. That being somewhat the case, I would choose 227 over 232 anytime

If I were you, I would be somewhat happy to own such a nice 227, at least from the distance of the pic shown, as long as you don't remove the book from the bag, it's as good as seeing a slabbed mid-grade. That said, issue 227, thanks to this forum, has become the must-have Neal Adams Batman book. The art on this cover is immeasurably invaluable and far more significant than the original cover that inspired it. I wish I had bought this book when it was available cheap @5 bucks fi around 15 years ago for NA batman books published late 60s and early 70s. And now this issue has become a rarity among collectors now

You can say that again, pal. Me I'm still looking for that very limitedly still impossible to find now CTB 1 pence variant. Those very few that might exist are unlikely to be let go by their owners because of their incalculable worth. Possibly 100 times that of the prevalently common cent copy, So I can very well understand your passionate thoughts and desire to obtain these editions, its not like the USA where there's the long running culture and foresight to collect and preserve comics from newstands as investment, matter of fact, even newspaper comics strips from the 1930s are well preserved by readers in the US, but not so in other parts of the world

ummmm this is a toughie.... we think we have confirmation no 181 exists.... the TOD 1 we have thought might, we also think a bats 227, spidey 129, maybe even some DC..... like hos 92 or ASW 10? But we don't really have set parameters as far as dates.... nothing is concrete. Some collectors have confirmed the non-existence of the 181 which we trust for the most part. The problem is there are no databases, there are no threads upon threads of info on these books on the Filipino comic boards, there are no contacts over there even that can give us more than bits and pieces of info.... It really is crazy how little info there is out there about these books. We have cold emailed LCS's looking for info, we have contacted the few sellers over there that sell on Ebay looking for more info or more books, we have even tried to get people that might be travelling to the Philippines to hunt for us? A contact of mine even put an ad in the paper requesting info and money for anything? Books, info, sources..... he did find me some books, but this was over a couple months almost a year. Some books and little little little trickles of info... Just the other day I contacted National Bookstore customer service to see if they could put me in contact with their records dept. or anyone that could possibly shed light on their publishing and licensing in the seventies? Run around and blew me off... im pushing harder but geeze.... The other thing is... many of these books could be sitting in longboxes anywhere in the world being passed over because they look so similar to their American counterparts in many ways. No end to such pursuits if you want to hunt down international reprints. I have also come across very nice foreign language reprint editions of LSH and even Neal Adams GL/GA , think it might have been from Hong Kong/China or Malaysia. I just flipped thru it and never bought any, though on hindsight memory, the pages were of more durable type. Judging from these boards, I think the Adams Batman versions would be very much sought after by collectors here.

I never realized I can afford the story by buying the Marvel Tales reprint (which has also a cool red cover, better than the yellow one, IMO)… Wth a cover like that, you can now slab the original to sell for a profit. What is most interesting to me is that both copies looks to be of the same condition in terms of cover gloss even though they were printed at different tims, did you bought them from the same place first hand?
