  1. Where and how did you managed to obtain the area distributions charts from, CSM?
  2. Always nice to read about like-minded comics enthusiasts getting into the core of things. Maybe someone can compile a collection of such informative topics into a fanzine, or maybe incorporate it into a regular feature in one of the backissue mags like Alter Ego or Backissue. Keep up the great discussion, guys! Just reading makes me feel as if i'm transported back in time to the swinging 70s!
  3. Arnie should play a cameo or supporting role bcos he is an old man. Think Indy jones 4 ha..
  4. If you compare, there's is always room for frustration. Upgrading always gets you owning more copies of a paricular issue that you never thought you have that many copies years later. Btw, who is the guy who owns eight 9.8 #1s? Any scans?
  5. Uhm, if i may, one unproven theory is that the darker ones got printed first- later, perhaps out of ink or other possible reasons, the later prints came out lighter. But how then does that explain those in-betweeners, not that dark or lighter in color tone, but yet richly thick in color. Too bad i don't have a scan of it to show.
  6. Ha...who isn't after years of becoming a comics lover!
  7. yeah, fans would all jump on an issue of such proportions, and if they bring in Alan Moore to do a few pages. In fact, i feel that Swamp Thing's 1980s success owes quite a fair bit to Marvel 's Man-Thing as a form of indirect co- inspiration of sorts.
  8. Nice bks all them, GT! Truly Satisfactory high grades to own! Had my eyes on asm 144-145 & champions 1.
  9. Simply like those Invaders covers that were done by him!
  10. Yea some of the best superheroes covers were done by the underrated GK. Not forgetting GS X-men 1!!!
  11. Anyone remember these 70s b/w children's GNs- to me, they were the Best "Classics Illustrated" ever where the art was concerned. They did Dracula, Sherlock Holmes, Illiad, and many others:
  12. I always feel that Man-Thing is a far more superior and much more sophisticated horror concept than Swamp Thing ever was, with or without consideration of Alan Moore's writing on the latter. The Man-Thing has always been one of the most underrated character and title of the Bronze age. He is one of those dream characters i would like to see in the Defenders done 70s-80s style.
  13. Thought this book has a homage cover to a golden age issue. Can't imagine it is that hard to find a decent copy of this today when just a few years ago, say late 90s and early 2000s, decent high grade copies of this surfaced quite frequently here and there. So come to think of it, tpbs and movies sure do in one way or another contribute to more and more people seeking out the originals, adding to the scarcity caused by those who buy good quality comics when they see one or any. Think GL- interests in the movie-> books-> artist Neal Adams and very soon all the decent shape Batman NA books would be gone from the stores. As if this has not aleady happened. In another decade, we can only imagine what 's out there in the raw back issues market
  14. here's one of those hard to find copies that was printed in a small fraction of the run so as to be sold in the UK and commonwealth countries: i do wonder just how many times a pence issue is worth as compare to its more common standard cents counterpart.
  15. anyone seen the ultra rare British pence conan the barbarian #1-14s in high grade??
  16. The notion of pedigree or no pedigree, as long as the book i'm looking for is in the very high grade category of NM/M(NEW!!!), i would just go for it before it's gone.
  17. That's a nice high grade issue you got there, sl4ppy - ASM 125 ! Do you have raw unslabbed issues of other titles in similar condition from the same owner?? or even slabbed issues from the same pedigree is fine. Can PM me too!
  18. I could remember some years ago when Langes Sports put up lots of high grades issues for sale. Wish there are more of such.
